Yes, I work long hours in England and then have a week or two off at a time when I return home to California. I still have a few more nappies to sell - I must have started with approx 70 of them (or rather ended up with them after my little spending sprees over a couple of years). I'm selling them for close to what I paid for them, having used them on my kidlet :)

  • Lots of activity on here :-) Got a replacement but have not backed my phone up since april. Gutted anyway back in action. Will catch up tomorrow good night people. Ps wow must be some job for that far commute:-) xx

Well it was more expensive than i was hoping and more than a lot of people pay on this forum. I unfortunately/fortunatly have a large and very close family. My wedding either had to be 20 or 110. To me and my (new) husband it was more important we had the people we love there than we had some fancy place or fancy food etc. Therefore it was 110.

Mum and I did a lot ourselves with making tons of things, we had quite a bit of leeway on food so canapes were the starter (as 2 hours of waiting around after ceremony before sit down), and for pudding we used our wedding cake which we had made as a cheesecake wedding cake. It was YummY! My grandparents also brought all the wine over from France/Spain for us.

Anyway, it came to a total of £13k (i was aiming for £11k.) I was still happy with that as 4 of my cousins have got married over the last 3 years and theirs all cost between £24k-£35k for the same size and everyone said how nicer mine was as it was so much more personnel. I refused to do anything just because it was "traditional". But I had an amazing day and wouldnt change a single thing. Also, my parents very kindly contributed £5k and rents in law £3.5k so we only paid £4.5k overall.

Now we are saving for our honeymoon in Barbados (not that ive booked it yet as im waiting for a sale weekend and ill be going through a cashback website) in April/May.
  • Well good MORNING!

What a gloriously horrid, foggy mess of a day! Listerbelle what I wouldn't give for a few weeks in California but I am sure you miss the "kidlet" a lot and hubby! Are these the cloth nappies of the by-gone era that are making a come back? My mum used them... then....ahem.....recycled them as floor cloths....

Anyway.. I just read a thread on the front DFW page - a guy has paid his last installment to his creditors after 6 years and £55k. I think if he did it so can we...

I am determined to get rid of the bike loan now before the end of the year. How I will manage this I just don't know. it will leave me with the land loan sitting at £8292. Plus or minus a few pence. With my regular monthly payments being taken out anyway and with the bike, CC and OD gone I can funnel everything into this one debt..£3576 will be taken whether I like it or not.. meaning I need to find £4716. Easy for the entire year...£393 a month...

Its the £2630 before the New Year I am worried about. If I work every Sunday now and every Bank holiday I might be able to accrue the funds. I might work the New Year's Eve as well.. really see in 2013 on an MSE note...

Hmmmmmmmm wanna get this down the last penny though...

Aiming for an NSD today.. Geordie Boy might show up tonight. I don't mind, I have no eBay listings to worry about...:rotfl:

  • Oooh Milly! £4.5K is tiny! £11k is a lot but as you said minimal compared to what people pay and contributions are superb - how long then did it take for you to build up £4.5k....

I would love my land in Ireland to be mature by the time I get married ( which so far looks likely ) - with Dad's orchard and cherry blossom in bloom thats he is currently planting.... I'll string lanterns and fairy lights through the trees... hope for no rain and erect a marque on our other lawn for food. I have a small family which is even better but getting some of them from Australia would be hard..

I just need a husband.. oh hang on lets start with a boyfriend.. not that I have thought about this much......

    ;-(

Oh and it took us 9 months of saving £500 a month for the wedding cost. And will take 6 months for honeymoon saving. But only one more month to go!!!!! A total of 1 year and 3 months of saving.

  • Well good evening to you all!!!

It has been a long old day and my goodness I am tired. Geordie Boy is a no show and once again I am secretly please.. I have been constructing a mammoth email to a friend in Australia who makes me want to use my dual nationality and disappear travelling. I think however a wise idea would be to clear debts... then go..yes?

Today has been another NSD.. so I am super pleased with myself. A friend gave me a crunchie bar - simple pleasures - this made me very happy!:D

My bike stuff came to £213. This makes me happy but I need to go back for £32 brake pads, a £15.49 clutch seal, a £29.50 MOT and a £5 oil top-up. This will amount to another (£40) 30 minutes of service time. Good thing I know now so I can budget for Tuesday ...PAYDAY!!!!

All overtinme asked for has been granted so on top of Sunday I have another 2 x 8 hour ( weekend shifts coming up. Better than nothing I suppose...

So Milly I think I would rather do your way and wait than use credit for it.. Happy £8k is minimal compared to what I have heard people spend. However I think I might travel first than think about something that might never happen...:rotfl:

Anyway lovelies... I am going to dry my hair and pop to bed. I am up at 0500 tomorrow and have done so for the passed 5 days and its catching up on me...

Onwards and Upwards lovelies... hope you all had a superb day!!..Killerpeaty how did the interview go??? Siouxie have you got the ipod....? Happy - has the phone been replaced...?

I think we lost Eco along the way but would love to hear about this barge...

Anyone else with any good news, frustrating news of anything else share share share....
