The idea of looking at my bank account and seeing negative numbers is enough to make my head spin ha ha. My bank keeps offering me the service but in my little head I'm thinking "but what if I go mad with power?!" lol.

I had wanted to work through uni, well at least from my second year (I was a terrible student in my first year), but in a city where 70% of the population is student and you're in the process of being classified disabled.. I wasn't the most desirable employee available. :o I know a lot of my friends' friends are in a lot of debt because they wanted new clothes and to go out every weekend. The only new clothes I bought in my third year were suits for interviews. : P I wish I only had to pay back 2k! I need to pay back about 30ish I think? Boo.

I don't owe anything other than student loan/maintenance, but I anticipate owing in the near future since there are a lot of things I see to be done. Learning to drive (will only get into less than £500 debt for this as is needed for the majority of the jobs I want), moving to get the job I want (up to 2k debt allowed for this), car (1k allowed for this), insurance (don't want to think about it), paying my mum back for the support she's given me, getting the qualifications I want if I can't get sponsorship, etc. So I'm a debt-free-wannabe-wannabe?

@Siouxsie; You sound like you're having a really productive day >D Yay! I'm about to have a productive day, interview, pay in my checks (£80 woo woo!) and get my new passport picture (new passport will wipe out previous woo woo...)

May I ask though what you owe and to whom.. or are you one of the lucky ones that is in the savings part of your MSE journey like Milly...

~Trying to Save Save Save Save and then try to Save a bit more. Sounds like what my life revoles around.

Had to pay for a wedding 1 month ago and now saving for the honeymoon. No way was i getting into debt over the wedding!

I got diddly squat from my parents too when i was at uni and came out with £13k in debt from maintenance and student fee loans. this was with working (full time in the summer while everyone i knew went backpacking). I dont think of it as debt as i never see the money. it comes straight out of my pay packet so i kind of forget it is there. paying off about £1.5k a year. will get there eventually. I think Martin says that if the interest rate is lower then your savings rate (after tax) then not to bother paying it off with savings as over all you are better off. so that's what im doing for the moment.
  • Well good evening one and all.

Firstly commiserations to ( not-so ) happy Happy.. sorry about your dead iPhone! If it helps I got mine iPhone 4 brand new in April. Smushed in May by a car after I dropped it at Belfast airport and forgot - returning within 5 minutes to a completely shattered screen. Cost me £60. Then within a week of getting the new one I dropped it and cracked the back screen -now it won't focus on bar-codes ( essential ) and won't switch off or "sleep" cause the wee button doesn't work....humphhhhhh!

Right now I awaiting my mechanic to call and say he has successfully serviced and MOT'd my baby. I have been given a bone rattler to ride.. its a relationship of love and hate with this replacement although the word hate rolls of my tongue to much easier.. it serves it's purpose and got me home. Even better is that cars keep their distance.. not cause its a woman rider more because they feel I might spontaneously combust due to the noise emanating from beneath my person...

....I have however, realised just how happy I can be in my jammies, in bed with Big Bang Theory on the TV and my laptop on my knee. Who needs to go out!!:D....

Tomorrow we are on for another NSD...

Killer you have had a rough old time of it for sure. Are you now registered disabled? I think my friend just drank a lot and spent a lot on "party'ing".. I think my degree wasn't that difficult so I was able to work thank goodness - obviously yours was a little tougher though and being right in London...

Does you Mum really want to be paid back or is this something you want to do? When you say "debt allowed" does this mean the debt you are allowing yourself to get in or do you have it stashed somewhere...AND do you really need a car in London...oh oh I know does work pay for this? And how did the interview go?..

Ha Siouxie I like your style.. saving all the way! I love sitting in cafe's and nursing one pot of tea...apart from Starbucks tea with a side helping of annoying brat.:) Glad you are having a productive day though. I managed to send off my eBay parcel - 1 last thing to worry about but that came out of my £80 as I banked it all straight from Paypal...Grr..

Milly - spill the beans then how much did you spend on the Wedding? I too refuse to have loans etc on a wedding or honeymoon and will save save save. ..

  • ..sorry abrupt end as I got a call to pick my bike up. I hate riding in fog. However I got myself home with a smile on my face.. can't get the following song out of my head...
.." da da da da da afro circus afro circus, polka dot polka dot, afro circus"....

Can't wait to see that film!!!

Anyway... I am searching ISBN numbers..AGAIN! Might sell my "Sensuous Massage" with a wooden paddle on eBay. Give 'em all something to snigger about...:rotfl:

I love reading this thread - you guys write so well :)

I have nothing much to say at the moment, so will continue to lurk if that's ok. :)

I have just watched $70 worth of cloth nappies walk out the door though :) ($ as I'm in the USA for two weeks, where hubby and daughter are full time.)
