HAHAHA "A FRIEND" ooo give us a fifty shades description muhahaha .....;well i have done something unspeakable i dropped my iphone in water and its been in rice now for 24 hours and has not yet come back to life im devastated .... however its quite refreshing to not be so arttatched to my phone lol .... pray that it will soon work lol ..... i shouldnt laugh but crap happens hey ho

...just quickly... I read a few new threads in DFW a day and am always interested in how people came to owe so much. I grew up with my mothers mantra in my head, the three comments I used to get from her have stuck in my head and made me ruthless about what I don't buy..

1. Do you need it?
2. How much is it?
3. No!

Simples.. however this makes it hard to cut back. When there is little to cut back on - hence I am just selling EVERYTHING. It's taken 10 years and a lot of money to build my library.. now I am selling it.

Maybe I feel guity about being on this site, since what what I owe is not real debt so to speak - I am "imposing" this challenge on myself. The banks aren't ...much!..

But we are about saving as well aren't we. Save our money from the big dirty conglomerates.. save our money from extortionate interest rates and unscrupulous bankers and save for what we NEED ..

Maybe thats how I should look at this...

My ipod got drenched when I was out biking and didn't close my pocket properly. I left it for a week and it came back to life. Seriously leave it for a few days then start crying if all else fails.....

Looks likes I have been a bit special with my calculations.. turns out with what I easily cover the £2163.70 that I had set as my target for the end of the year to the tune of £2291.14. I pay minimum amounts per month plus have instructed my bank to take back the overdraft each month until 01.01.2013...

Right back to the drawing board...

Thanks for the welcome! But um, sorry not actually a bloke although I am "one of the boys" in quite a few people's eyes. Does that count? Although... I do love shoes.

I love my Ipod too, I got it in 2006 and have not replaced it yet. Last month I thought it was lost forever (lost my bag, passport, wallet and all my money on a night out just after my dad died, I'm not usually that bad) and genuinely cried, but I got a phone call from the police and my bag and everything was handed in!

When my phone gets wet, I put it in the airing cupboard. Worth a try? Good luck with it. : )

OK lovely ladies, what do we think of this one....

My Gumtree buyer was supposed to come this afternoon to pick something up. She just emailed and said sorry, but could she come at 9.30 tonight to get it. I kinda thought that was a little late and somehow felt a bit vulnerable having a stanger come to my house at night. I was maybe going to try to put her off til tomorrow bt then when I thought about it, my neighbours are in (although they go to bed quite early so I don't want to tell them what's happening) and they'll be out if she comes tomorrow. She already has my address.

Am I right to feel uneasy? Should I put her off til tomorrow (I'm assuming it's a her)? What excuse would I give? She knows that my neighbours are in as I asked her to call when she's outside rather than ring the bell as I don't want to disturb them so late (they'd hear the doorbell).

I usually work on the theory of trusting my gut instinct...what do you think?

Did u say you lived on your own? If she's buying something small meet her at the door.. Do not invite her in. You don't have to be kind like towards a friend! Have someone on the phone ( mum ) and make it a swift exchange. If she says she hasn't got change on her close your front door before retrieving some for her... Be extra safe!!!

No use of your toilet, no cuppa or glass of water and never be afraid to holler at her if she does something you don't like!!
