Aww, I love the good life. It was a great programme, but I don't think I could ever get to that point in which I would give up everything I knew to become self-sufficient!

@htgdf: Do you know if you have insurance for it? Some cover water damage, mine does (came with my contract as a perk of renewing my contract in store).

I need to start listing things on ebay tomorrow, I will use you guys as inspiration.
  • Happy go into an Apple store first.. speak / flirt etc with one of the "male" geeks and see what they can do there.. then insurance... then possible replacement. I swear some things that seem dreadful to us are a common problem to them and they might be able to advise you..

I have listed enough c - RAP to see me into the middle of this week. It was super slow and frustrating though and I will be glad to get de-cluttered and stop this selling malarky for a bit. I have managed to package up the one item I sold.. a bag. Otherwise Siouxie I was re-listing tonight and selling...

Tidied up my room like a good Kitty and can see a little space emerging.. I have a lot of "non sell-able" vintage dresses that I want to keep but are in boxes undre my bed.. Might get rid of one book-case completely soon...

Siouxie I want to get rid of the books as opposed to wait for them to sell.. I might give the smaller ones to the charity shop down the road from me.. someone might appreciate them! However the bigger ones I might re-try on Amazon..

The self sufficiency life is appealing in some ways.. I know I want solar panels.. chickens, bees and a herb garden... when this will happen I don't know. But I doubt I'd be able to give up all technology.. however just some simple inspiration to cut back wherever we can..

Oooooh I had an NSD today and am aiming for another on Tuesday. Tomorrow is breakfast out and about... should be a giggle if anything..

I shall be re-considering figures tomorrow as well and whether I should use the brown hair dye I got at boots last week OR get my usual Blue Black a la Dita Von Teese...

    Ahhh decisions decisions....

    Good Night all....

  • Hello Happy ... thank you for your good wishes,.. Breakfast was £3.50. Not bad I guess!

I have realized my Bike loan is the challenge I was after. Wonder how much I can actually reduce it by the end of the year 31.12.2012..Stand by for strategy.

£21 from bag sale added to CC.. meaning I have £160 left on it to pay. Wonder if this can be done by the end of the month!

    Hows the phone..?

  • The phones been taken for repair fingers crossed it will be alive when it returns.... just updated my pay so much off in 2012 so that brings the new total to £9116.13/48262.44.... no more direct debits now till after payday, the phone wont cost anything well it will but oh had a job so that covered it .... im sure you can wipe the £160 by 31/12/12 thats about £2.30 a day from tomorrow till the 31st 70 days i think ?? thats like a magazine or cup of coffee when we put it like that its simples :) xx

If you don't mind my asking, how does it feel to be overdrawn? I never have been, not because I'm good with money or anything, my parents were able to support me through uni until last year so I've been very lucky.

£2.30 is completely reasonable! Can definitely do that!

Happy, I hope your phone is ok. A friend of mine lost her's on Saturday but she is actually enjoying the time without it.

I'm alone in my house at the moment, but I'm nervous about my job interview so I'm going to angst at you *throws angst at thread* x
  • Hello Killer.. I am £1000 into my overdraft. This was arranged though, without charge, by my bank. Since they have known me since I was 9yrs old I think they might look after me a lot better than other banks would.:D

I am paying it back with no interest charges.. they did this so I didn't have to use my CC. Its for my motorbike insurance so I can pay it all up front and was arranged a week ago. I intend to be better prepared next year though. They were very kind. I will pay it back at the end of this month, November and December in increments of £350 / £325 / £325. For me - easily manageable. And worth not paying that extra £160 by using DD format...

£2.30 is reasonable but I want this amount gone by the END OF THIS MONTH.. which is about £17. I shall be all over eBay hopefully...:T

Killer I worked all the way through Uni.. my parents couldn't support me in any way. I did not have a CC or DD at Uni and I worked nearly 30 hours a week with a Major / Minor degree... you are lucky your parents were there for you but those who didn't still have no excuse. A friend was £28,000 in debt when she left a 4 year course.. I have only £2000 out of £8000 ( for 4 years tuition ) left on my student loan... which will be gone by next year!

On another note a massive good luck with your interview, you are probably more prepared than you think! I shall take your angst and replace it with fairy dust and a round of applause:T:T:T..

May I ask though what you owe and to whom.. or are you one of the lucky ones that is in the savings part of your MSE journey like Milly...

So my findings are thus.. to clear my bike loan of £3029.18 in the next 3 months before the end of December I need to either...

    1. Rob a bank.
    2. Beg.
    3. Do lots of Overtime.
Guess which one it will be... that's right I am gonna be a beggar.....( kidding )...:D

So I pay £133.23 each month towards this loan. Times that by 3 and take it from the total leaves me with a cool £2629.49. Which amounts to an extra £876.50 that I need to conjure per month

    ...hang on a second...

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

( one little boyo doesn't seem to think I'm funny)....

Sorry just needed that out of my system. I am still going to try and do it though! Not sure how but I am going to try...

Blimey peaty, I think I'm qualified to answer that one-I've been overdrawn most of my adult life! Sometimes (pre-LBM of course) my wage wouldn't even get me back in the black . I never used to consider my overdraft a debt :eek::eek: and I used to think I had x amount left to spend each month, when what I really meant was I owe the bank money and I can't afford to spend anymore!

Now, of course, my attitude to borrowing is completely different. When I clear my overdraft, I'll still keep the facility there as it'll be a handy buffer, but I have absolutely NO intention of ever spending more than I have again!!

Currently having a bit if a laugh at your Poor Planning statement kat (can't remember if it's an acronym or whatever). I'm having a speedy day in London (£2.20 for a coffee-actually, I needed to sit somewhere and type stuff up and the caffeine proved useful so not too big an expense for a day in London!). Anyway, I'd finished my coffee (delicious :)) and, after nursing it for over an hour as I used their heat and Internet connection, I asked for the bill. They slapped a £1 debit card charge onto the bill and I didn't have cash  I did a bit of amateur dramatics pretending I'd left my purse in my office and thankfully they let me [STRIKE]scurry round to the cash machine[/STRIKE] go back to my office to collect my purse! £1 saved :rotfl:

Paid my car ££ into the bank (before my cash finding scuttle) and withdrew £55 from Paypal for last night's eBay sales so as soon as I know my exact salary shortfall I'll work out how much can be paid to the Virgin Credit Card :D My wage slip should be out at the end of the week (as I limp towards next Tuesday's payday) so hopefully I've underestimated things and I can get through the month.

Thanks happy for pointing out there are still 70 days left of this year-that gives me hope that I can clear the Virgin card and move on to Debt Number 2 :)

Off to the Post Office now to post my eBay items.

Is everyone else having a good day?
