just popping out of lurkdom to say I can't wait either!! You've really inspired me to a) knuckle down and get on with it and b) plan to travel lots afterwards. I thank you for both, from the bottom of my hearrrrrt (said in a Margarita Pracatan accent) and wish you well on your adventures!
What did you decide re the frock situation?0 -
Hi everybody! :wave::wave::wave:
Thank you for all the lovely support and well wishing and gratitude. I feel all loved!!
Yesterdays trip to the clothes store saw the purchase ( ok not really ) of a trench coat / Mac. The type if you wear with stilleto's and a skirt that can't be seen people will assume you are naked underneath.... the ones that make you look like a spy..... with a large collar.. in beige and for £95.
There is nothing in the store under £50 unless you want some cheap tatty ear-rings which I don't do second hand. There is a blouse on their website for £55 which is silk so I am having that put aside when it returns from their "fashion shoot" which is a cream !!!!!bow which I can wear with my seamed stockings and a black pencil skirt and new Mac....
Now I just need someone to spy one....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Thank you so much ... you will all be the first to hear me scream it loud and proud before I post a thread about it....:T“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Hi Kat, firstly can I say wow, secondly wow and thirdly wow. I am up to page 20 of your diary and seriously impressed with everything you have achieved and it's made me think about how much more I should be doing.
I am in a strange position of being in imminent receipt of a nice sum of money but will still have a lot of debt, your diary has made me see that I need to keep focussing on the goals of being debt free and saving for a deposit for a house.
I read about the confused app and has been duely downloaded and will test on a journey tomorrow, I drive quite a lot of miles a week for work.
I will continue reading to get properly up to date, but well done and exciting times ahead for you.

Hello Crysalis... welcome to my diary! Thank you for persevering through it all. There is a lot to read through and I might apologies now for my slight tendancy towards the "crazy" as I find things to help me on my journey. Sometimes when I read back I cringe - but I have been honest..
How much debt to do you have and how much are you going to recieve? The reason I ask is due to the possibility that you could offer a "full and final" settlement to you debt companies. Have you thought about that...?
One lady I spoke to ( who I hope won't mind me saying ) that upon enquiring about her debt and advising them of her particular situation they have accepted a cash payment of £5000 in lui of a £40,000 debt...?
You need to consider what your options are as you might able to wipe your debt clean...
Focus, determination and perseverance are key....This is my favourite quote.“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.

just south of £50k unfortunately, some is a long term interest free loan from my mum and dad but I really want to get shut of it early on as they are coming up to retirement.
I've just had to leave uni, long story (see diary) and am returning to my previous well-paid career which should see off the debt reasonably quickly while still leaving a bit of room for exploring and enjoying myself along the way. I've been in a lot of debt for a long time and this site has helped me maximise my scant resources and prioritise the important (and cheap) things that make life worth living :j
Longer term I am hoping to do some travelling in South America (including a really big adventure) and seeing and hopefully living in some different and very wild areas of Scotland.
not long to go for you now :T tick tick tick! :cool:0 -
Thanks some really great info there, I haven't phoned anyone yet as the money has been delayed with no revised date. It is comforting to know that it will happen but need to carry on ploughing through the debt in the mean time, we are set to get 10k which is amazing.
I roughly owe 15000 to 16000, half of that is a car which we have just changed after 3 years of paying 1000s in repairs for the previous one and still not having a reliable car. I know that having a 3 year old car is a luxury but I was getting stressed out at potentially breaking down and I travel every day for my job. Definitely not something I want to repeat so will discuss saving for the next car with dh.
I will definitely ask for full and finals when I contact the companies, if I can save anywhere it will be great.
Best wishes C xLoan from Mum £500/£300

Having one of those days......... feeling a little low recently despite the impending debt free day. Suppose it doesn't help that I got flashed by a speed camera and now possibly owe £100 - with an added bonus of 3 penalty points on my license. I think I have been overly complacent/tired on that bike and this is a wake up call. Better than being under the wheels of another vehicle I suppose....
So am getting a little frustrated at the lack of housing available to an NSK, a cat and a m/bike. I think it might be a little relief when I sell the bike but that's a long way off. I think I would want to get a house sorted before heading home to Ireland as I wouldn't be able to relax over Christmas without having something sorted. So that's todays challenge - get searching.......
I think becoming debt free might be a right massive anti-climax as well. Here's me assuming I would have a surplus amount of money to spend on my family to have a lovely day with them and treat them a little but I have to spend EVERYTHING on putting a house deposit aside. Honestly I could cry - does this universe not know what I am doing?? I am finding myself getting a little indifferent to anything the landlady has to say now.. about her wedding, her family anything.. and she has builders in the house constantly and I don't feel very accomodating in letting them in etc.... bad huh! Just fed up a little!
Doesn't help that their isn't anyone around for a hug...:rotfl:.. just a nice hug please Universe from someone who knows just how hard this has all been..... (Dorothy doesn't count, she only hugs me for food:p)..
So work is one iota away from confirming my sabbatical. I have been offered, however, one of the most expensive and most sought after courses my work place could ever offer. I could basically become an independant financial intelligence officer / investigator.....something that I could run with and do independantly. But there is an entrance exam to pass, and fingers crossed someone won't assume I shouldn't do it since I am leaving. I have to get the time off signed away, while playing it down in order to ensure I have this course... and yes I have been waiting SO long for it so I can justify taking it...
AND... I have had an offer from the local Credit Union to do a two day Money Management course with them in order to train me to assist others in money management. I met the CU representiative during that town show a few months back and she was qite taken by my finance enthusiasm (geek) and they are happy to sponsor me to do this two day course with the understanding I help them now and then with people that might come their way/.... Interesting huh!
Might think debt managment / butt kicking is the way forward for me... would love to work on my own....Lifestyle coaching is on my mind but am not sure where to start with that. I just truly believe some people have not been given the right tools mentally to realise that they can do anything they put their minds to - I can make them believe this and show them how. Just not sure how I can go about starting... oh hang on... might need to eat my words there...I CAN DO ANYTHING.... :rotfl:
So there.. thinking about life, about my furture, about the fact I have been single for two years with not one normal, interesting, fellow geek taking interest.... honestly why is it the married men and freaks are so bold.... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Hi Kat. The possibility of the F.I course sounds great :j I don't know of anyone that does it independently but have worked with a few people that have been snapped up by the private sector in that type of work following similar public sector training.
Debt busting is something that has been such a big part of your life for so long. It's completely understandable that approaching the end and finding that the massive amount of work you've put in so far, hasn't yet allowed you to reach the position where you finally want to be is a bit demoralising.
But... you've achieved so much and put yourself in a fantastic place financially compared to where you started out. I also think it's great you're prepared to help others out at a local CU as well as on this site. Hope you feel cheerier tomorrow and More Power To You :T0
