Just been caught out with this scam. Ordered free trial on 19th Jan. I never new it was a scam till I noticed that they had taken £75 out my account on 4th Feb. I thought I was only paying for half price delivery costs. Now I know this is just to get your bank details. I phoned my bank, RBS, straight away. There is nothing they can do about the £75 already taken but they have put a stop on any more payments and if anything is taken from my account from now on I will be refunded. FURIOUS at myself. 1st time I've ever been caught out.0

I have also been caught out on this . Feel really stupid as read it was a channel 4 documentary success and thought it would be okay. Cancelled within 2 hours after reading the messages and the package arrived the next day. Phoned the number and the automated service confirms the order has been cancelled and they will confirm in an email. the R.M.A. number is impossible to make out and I need this to return the goods. Contacted my credit card on the day of order to cancel the card but they say they can still get the money as its a subscription. They need the R.M.A. number . Will keep trying to get this. Have emailed 3 times .0

Hi, any update on your situation pls?
I had forgotten all about this post I made back in November and have just found this.
My update is: My daughter received the pills. I opened them, took them to my local pharmacist who said he would dispose of them for me.
Since then, we ordered her a new card. Because she had been charged the £7.00, for postage and the free trial, the bank logged that transaction and placed a block on further monies being taken. There has been no attempt to take any money, whatsoever. My daughter lost the £7 or just under (which I have given to her) and that's the last we have heard from them thus far. Given the publicity they have had, I doubt whether they will be attempting to take her to court and if they did, they would find me waiting for them.
Having read the amount of people who have been scammed and returned the pills at great expense to themselves, I will add again, don't spend the money on returning the pills. Talk to your bank and if your card has been charged, then the bank can block the transaction, regardless of what you have signed up for. Because it is a scam. A known scam, you are protected by your bank. A CPA is not what this is, it is a known scam and your bank has a duty to protect your money. I consider my daughter very lucky that she only lost £7.00 to this outfit. They can enjoy it, they will need it to pay for their lawyers.
So, don't send the pills back, speak to your bank and don't panic. Act quickly. Sending the pills back at the end of the free trial period is not going to work, it will be too late, you will lose more money. Your bank may well be able to do a chargeback, but you can act quickly at the start, we did it on the day she ordered them.0 -

Yes, speak with your bank and inform them this is a scam. They should be able to do a chargeback for you. If it is a credit card, then call the company. Don't bother trying to call the company and don't respond to any emails, simply talk to your bank/cc company and explain the situation. You have been scammed and they should be aware of this.0 -
It is not a subscription. It is a scam. Tell your bank this. Don't be fobbed off by your bank, you have not signed up for a subscription. Yikes, how many more people will attempt to contact the company? They are uncontactable. Call your bank and act now.0

Hi. Update on my returns ...Credit card absolutely wonderful, so helpful and understanding, told me exactly how to cancel and did it on the automated message. Returned the goods yesterday after following the automated message to P.O.box 113. Shannon. Country Clare. Post office told me nobody will sign for them as its a P.O.Box but the postman in Ireland has to stamp the package so there is proof they were received . Paid on the International rate..waste of money.. Still no reply to the emails I have sent them , no surprise there !!! Thank you to everyone who posted on moneysavingexpert as I realised immediately this was a scam and have sorted it out within four days.0

Received my package today and as with everybody else no letter or instructions for returning as is required under the Distance Selling Regs 2000. Noticed that the items had been sent via Royal Mail and the pre paid licence no was HQ23265. A little research via Royal Mail and discovered the licence is held by ; Pure Slim Limited, Unit 2, Watchmoor Trade Centre, Watchmoor Road, Camberley GU15 3AJ. 01276 682013
One of the directors is a James Leon who,I believe, is well known to the Advertising Commission for dodgy practice.
I have cancelled my credit card and advised Ketone that I require them to provide an actual address (not a virtual address) to return items. We shall see but for sure I ain't going to lose any sleep.
Here is some helpful inf I lifted from the internet:
5. Cancelling A U.K. Based Free Trial
As we have said before, the U.K. is a new place to target so there’s been an explosion of these trials in recent times.
Although most of the people behind these scams are American, they are now setting up a limited company, usually with hidden addresses. This is so they can avoid potential problems with the FTC in America where they can be liable of fines worth millions of dollars if they are caught.
The U.K. is much further behind and the Office of Fair Trading is only just catching on to what is going on online. There are also much slacker rules about what they can and can’t do and say, but importantly there is one piece of legislation that can be on your side.
This is the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.
This is a very important piece of legislation and in most cases these companies ride completely roughshod over it. One part of it specifically relates to selling online via a website so in our case it fits perfectly.
The onus is for any business selling online to comply with these regulations, which are designed to try and protect the consumer from falling victim to scams. There is a specific “cooling off” period designed to protect customers.
If you buy anything online from a U.K. based company then you are covered under these regulations.
The key here is that they must by law provide you with certain “Prior Information.“ If even one of these things is not done then they are acting illegally.
The information, which MUST be given to, you include:
Name and address of supplier (PO Box is no good)
Description of the main characteristics of the goods
Price including all taxes
Delivery costs
Arrangements for payment and delivery
Existence of a right to cancel
Minimum duration of contract
Whether you must return the goods if you cancel
Conditions to cancel the contract
Geographical address to address complaints
All this must be given in a clear and comprehensible manner and must be confirmed in writing. There is specific reference to a “durable medium” which does not include having the terms on the website only.
This can include email, so unless you had a confirmation email after you had placed the order for the free trial, which included all the details in a clear way then the contract is possibly null and void.
Some companies have the terms and conditions on their websites, which must be viewable before you sign up. However they must provide these in writing (email) as well.
Don't worry and good luck.0 -
