    Happy New Year SAD's!

    I hope your festive periods were merry and you didn't have too much sherry!

    I have managed to get below the 30k mark, which looks nice written down , but still seems like a hell of a long way to go. So my goals for this year which might be unttainable but are something to aim for are;

    * Get my debt below 20k by the end of the year.
    * Find myself a nice girl.
    * An above inflation payrise.

    Three tough targets to reach and I have no idea which will be the least hard to achieve!

    I hope 2014 brings you all that you hope for, if there are indeed any of you still reading this thread!

    Thanks Shoe Gal.

    You are nearly half way to clearing your debt, that will be a good milestone to pass.

    Good luck in your debt busting for 2014.

  • Hi fellow SADs. Haven't posted in ages but I am still single though debt free! Have lost all equity built up in my house by selling it cheap but at least have no debt headache or huge mortgage to pay. Have moved back to a nice small northern town and will stay in rented accommodation now.
    Have a campervan too tho it's only 5 years old so my daughter complains it just looks like a van rather than a camper. Being practical as I can't afford garage bills :)
    Well done to everyone for keeping on track and good luck in 2014.
    This year I would like to meet a nice man and find a new stress-free job :)

    Congrats on becoming debt free vwcm, it must have been a big decision to sell your house but you are now starting from a clean slate.

    Well done Danni as it looks like you are debt free as well. Hopefully many more of us will be joining you in the not too distant future.

    Evening all!

    I just happened to stumble on this thread, I honestly don't think I could do it the same way again LOL I'd best subscribe...

    Ok so I'm £15.5k in debt, soon to be £14k(ish) in debt after I pay off Cheque Centre and make this months DMP payment to Step Change.

    I've been single now for... Hmmm... Longer than I realised! It's about 3 years?

    Been through quite a bit in that time including building up my debts, developing a gambling problem, depression... All the good stuff :)

    On the plus side I feel like I'm coming through it! In the last year alone I've received counselling for my gambling and (excluding the blips) it has been 6 months since my last bet* I've entered into a DMP with Step Change and my debts are visibly reducing :) and other than the odd "off" day, I'm actually quite happy!

    *My gambling problems were with FOBT, honestly I have no interest in sports or betting but I started playing Roulette one day while waiting to collect my £5 winnings from the National one day and went on from there...

    For me, I'm actually quite happy being single as it means I don't have to budget around a relationship LOL I've also found that actually, I quite like me :) in addition to liking me I've started to realise that women seem to take more notice when you take less notice if that makes sense? All very weird...

    There are some things which I miss being single... Other than "the obvious" I'm terrible at cooking for one so I tend to eat more ready meals or skip them altogether and as I have nobody to dry my cutlery is streaky LOL and... that's about it I think?

    Anyway, I just wanted to say hi! I'm gonna drop by from time to time and I look forward to hearing back :)

    I too stumbled across this thread, I've had a few short term relationships over the past 2 years, and am currently single. My debt is my own fault and my responsibility. I'm also a single parent. Looking forward to being debt free like some of you guys. Sometimes it seems insurmountable and it's a lonely journey.
    I intend staying single now until the debts paid. Dating is expensive and it's not fair to inflict this lot on any-one else!
