  • At my age unless the thread is up there with the others I forget about it as get way too distracted by most of the boards on here.

    Still blissfully single, still very much in debt but happy that for once I have money until the end of the month without slogging away with 2 jobs. I have learnt my health and happiness is far more important than anything else.

    Health & happiness is more important than anything else,it's a pity it took me so long to realise this.I worked too hard,brought my daughter up after divorcing when she was three.It was only after suffering a serious illness I realised it was time to slow down.Now I take life more in my stride,I only have about 800 pounds on 0% credit card & will easily be able to pay it off before deal runs out,I was going to draw out of my savings but it's not worth it as I'm paying no intrest.I have been seeing a very nice guy,but I don't want to get too involved,not yet anyway.I think I'm too set in my ways to live with another guy.He is very nice though,he's a barrister & I've known him a long time,we used to hang around together when we were younger.He lives in the city for his work & I live in a small village miles away.Suits me fine as I don't have him around all the time,I have my own life & men seem to get in the way sometimes.I think they think you can't manage without them.He's a gentleman though which makes a nice change from the usual idiots I go for,so you never know I'm happy as things are at the moment it's like having the best of both worlds.Knowing my luck though something's bound to go wrong. :rotfl:

    It's good to see the thread come back to life!

    I'm not making much headway with my debt at the moment as I have had so many outgoing with my house and car so hopefully I will be able to start making a dent into soon. Saying that I have to remortgage my house so that is going to be even more expense...

    Also single and in debt with two adult children hopefully son will be off to uni this September... then I have the bedroom tax to contend with a prison cell is bigger than his bedroom 7x5'...oh well I will just have to get on with it. It's not been easy and sometimes its a lonely journey, with the constant pressure of re-arranging payments robbing Peter to pay Paul. However this site has taught me a lot and I'am on the right path.

    I only have 3 more monthly instalments till I am debt free and can start living again and not just existing as I have been for the last 87 months.

    All self - inflicted on by me so there is no one else to blame !.

    I will then save for anything I want to buy.

    Hellooo again

    I'm thankfully not in debt (other than mortgage which don't really count as debt as would be paying rent otherwise) but I have been very stupid (and still have plenty to learn) over the years with money and wasted so much that it gives me constant guilt.

    However, I am single and have been for a long time since I was practically jilted at the altar by my fiance and had to move out of my home and start again with no friends (they were all his) and working in the same place as him (he was one of the bosses) and it gets me down at times.

    Have had plenty of interest since then (we split nearly 4.5 years ago!) but either end up with idiots or I meet someone I think I like and throw myself into it and realise I don't actually like them - a good friend once said to me "but you get on with everyone" which I often mistake for the new guy being the best thing since sliced bread when actually, I don't fancy them or have that much in common with them!

    So, I am taking a much more fussy and picky route now and have been asked on a date by a guy but not getting hopes up and going to take it slow and get to know him first to see if I actually fancy him/like him before thinking it's the romance of the century!!!!

    I've only just found this thread but have been sat here reading all the posts and I like that everyone is offering support to others and there doesn't seem to be any malice towards anyone.

    I've been single for about 2 months and my debts are all from my 2 boys father, who left in May last year, things were spiraling out of control and him always getting on at me for trying to pay bills and moaning at me for us not having any money.

    Since he left I managed to pay off;
    Sky,
    HMRC (overpayment from tax credits going from joint to single claim even though I rang them the same day!),
    Capital one
    Very catalogue
    Argos card
    SSE gas and electric bill from previous house
    HFC loan
    Provident loan

    Still to go;
    Natwest loan
    Natwest overdraft
    Natwest credit card
    Orange mobile phone bill
    JD Williams catalogue
    Been there, done that and Ebay'd the t shirt. :beer:

    Hi all,

    Well I am now a singleton once more! :(
    My decision though - I was being too grown up lol. We had a great time together but I couldn't see the long-term potential of it so have given him the push. 3 days on and my phone has never been so quiet :rotfl:

    On the other hand, I noticed I have spent a lot of money in the last few months on going out for drinks and meals and cinema etc though so hopefully it'll help my debt more that I won't be spending on this for a bit! Although the girls are already on about taking me speed dating in a few weeks time :eek:
    2019 will be my year!!
