Sorry I am having a mad day I think, I meant tackle it alone - probably still in share mode as still trying to sort out the mess of the ex and so most of my debts are still shared at the moment!
I will do better on posting my thoughts next time

I wasn't having a dig, it just made me smile!
I hope you start to get things sorted soon, from what I have found it will begin to get better over time (although my circumstances are different to yours).LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.

Hey all...
Survived VD (that did made me chuckle as I used to work in an Infectious Diseases Unit... and that stood for Venereal Diseases... Nice!!!)... Ahem... Moving swiftly onwards...
Valentine's Day came and went... I had a nice chilli I'd made and a glass of wine! No dramas, no pressure, no hassle. Also no cards.... WAAAAAAGHhehe!
Have been so out of the dating loop and since starting to *seriously* throw everything at my debts I realised I haven't been out on any dates whatsoever!!! Or clubbing... for over a year!!! Somewhere I need to get the balance right...
I've started on an eating plan (Eat, Fast, and Live Longer) where you have 2 days of semi-fasting (500 calories)... I've lost about 3 kg in 2 weeks!!! Not bad huh. My plan is to start to get some definition when I have lost a bit more, in time for summer. Whilst it's still dark and cold, and making the most of any overtime I can get my hands on!
What's everyone else up to? Still managing to keep a social life going?

I did wonder if anyone would pick that up, the meaning that is not the disease!
I have not had an alcoholoc drink this year yet but did manage a trip upto London last weekend to catch up with a mate and see a comedy gig. Will be falling off the wagon next weekend though as it's a mates birthday, I'll probably be tucked up in bed before it gets dark!
Sounds like you are doing well and look like you are on target to be debt free by 2014.LBM: Dec 2012 - Debt £38,180/ Now £0.

Hi - great to know there are other single people with debt problems too! Sometimes I think it would be great to have someone to share all the worst with, but a lot of the time I think I'm better on my own until this period of my life is done. At least I'll always know I faced it all MYSELF. And I won;t be able to get resentful & blame the other party either! I feel like if I can survive this, I can survive anything.
I filed for bankruptcy a few weeks ago - my debts were just too big. Mixture of failed business venture, failed relationship, illness resulting in no income for a year then earning less than I was previously used to ever since.
But the biggest thing for me was the house prices falling. I was used to chopping & changing mortgages every few years. Once the mortgage was more than the house was worth, I couldn't remortgage onto a better deal. Then my own deal expired, I couldn't sell up or move to another bank, & my monthly payment tripled overnight.
I juggled & struggled for another year after that, but professional advice was bankruptcy.
Though apparently not all my debts are included in that. I have benefits overpayments & an ancient student loan to pay off. So once the official receiver lets me know how much I'm going to have to pay to my bankruptcy creditors each month, I'll be in a better position to make a plan about the rest.
Stacey - good luck with the big date! Haven't had one of those for a long time!
Cheers :A

Well this thread has been very quiet recently. That must mean that everyone is either debt free or found themselves gf/bf?!

I am single, got myself into debt problems by myself although I was raising two kids but I'm not blaming them. They didn't get anything they wanted, it was just living! I am proud to say though that one is nearly finished Uni and ther is a Royal Marine
They don't know the extent yet but I know they will be very supportive. They don't live at home anymore but I have my two lovely dogs to keep me company and they dont answer back
I have just pulled my head out of the sand and starting to deal with it!LBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors
