    lol I can't win can I argh!

Personally in my experience I have had no problems with PayPal as a buyer or seller.

People should do whatever they can to protect themselves. However, I have now realised that perhaps people aren't fully aware of all PayPal rules. As someone mentioned, a lot of the rules are hard to find and are vague.

I'm hearing this time after time and its just the pits.
Put it to paypal, ok so and so has had their card stolen but how on earth did the person who stole it know the paypal password???????
I always have to enter my password every time I buy using paypal.....don't you?

The scamer probably used a stolen credit card to set up a new paypal account and bought the item straight away with his new account.

Paypal protection aint worth the paper it is printed on. I've had the same thing happen to me and paypal always screw the seller in these circumstances because they can' be bothered to waste their time chasing the criminal.

I never sell anything over £100 to an unconfirmed address nd where the buyer has a feedback score of less than 10.

..and I for one am not going to sit back and do nothing about it.

If you write to eBay and PayPal, then they will most likely ignore it.

If however, you write a few Letters to the Editor at major newspapers, you highlight the plight of these fraud victims in a very public forum, while exposing the lack of safeguards and any adequate response from eBay or PayPal. It's a practise known as Name-n-Shame and is very effective when used in a well-organized manner against faceless corporations, especially large, foreign-owned and -operated ones.

I feel like not using PayPal again! And that makes using Ebay more difficult...

    Thanks for all the help.

Well as it happens, I did get a response saying basically they would look into this seller further. They also said that they had to respect the account holder's privacy so would not be in a position to tell me what action they take ( )

I have some listings ending today and tomorrow, after that I am withdrawing the money and ending my relationship with Paypal, and I will send them an email so state that I have lost confidence in it, which I have, as a result of people's experiences on here. It may affect sales and be more work putting cheques in but at least I will have more peace of mind.

Isn't that the idea of debate?

That's what's so good about it.

You can lose the argument but gain knowledge along the way.

I often 'change my tune' as a result of debating with people.

Yeah, i agree. I just love flaming people though!

Thanks Tadaa for that. Thanks to any body else who contacted Ebay.

Here is the other account which "beverleydoel" uses which is surprisingly still up and running (it also has negative feedbacks from expensive items, clearly stating he does chargebacks):
