I had to prove i 'owned' it by producing the invoice for it, but it was for it alone.

It was the fact that microsoft didnt want them sold on ebay though.

I had bought it from a local video store, so i had a full receipt.

The problem I have is I didnt even sell the PS3 via ebay, they are holding a grand of mine and want receipts for items that dont even add up to a 100 quid.
I have sent them the receipts I have but computer fairs dont give good receipts do they and they are not good enough.
  • Finally, a written response from PayPal. It took one "small" threat to get them to communicate with me! Looks like they dont want to give me my money.....

    "Dear Mr. ****,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. I am
    happy to assist you further.

Mr. ****, while we investigate the legitimacy of the funds in
question, they will be placed into a temporary hold. Therefore, these
funds will not be made available to you until we are able to verify that
the funds in question are legitimate. If you have already used these
funds for another purchase through PayPal, or if you have withdrawn
these funds you may show a negative balance for the amount in question.

I can see that the case is in review so it means that our Investigation
Department are still investigating the case.

Please keep in mind that when PayPal is notified that fraudulent or
potentially fraudulent funds have been used in a transaction, we are
required by law to return those funds to the issuing financial
institution or their customer. PayPal attempts to disprove all reports
of fraud involving the service. We notified you as soon as we were
made aware of the situation. Until we are notified, we would have no
knowledge that someone's financial information is being misused.

Whenever there is a payment on hold, what we always check is whether the
seller ineligible for the Seller Protection Policy. I have reviewed all
the details of this particular transaction and what I can see here is
that unfortunately you are not eligible for the Seller Protection so
this payment will be reversed back to the seller. you sent the item to
    the unconfirmed buyer's address.

I understand your frustration regarding this matter and regret any
inconvenience it might have caused you.

    Sincerely,
    Karolina
    Resolution Services Department
    PayPal, an eBay Company"

Hiding using T&Cs!!! I sent it to an unconfirmed address? But the guy received the item and his signature is clearly there in the tracking system of Royal Mail. Besides, the fact is, they dont carry out any investigation at all. As soon as a chargeback happens, they just take the money from the seller.

I am certain, confirmed address or no confirmed address, PayPal's response would have been the same as others who sent their items to verified addresses seem to have had similiar problems.

I am going to look into Nochex...How do PayPal and Nochex differ?

Nochex have got a big section and chargeback and protection:
    http://www.nochex.com/security/

But how good is it in reality...?

Paypal were bad to me too when I was an ebay newbie.

Bought a game from America, paid via paypal and a month later the game arrived. It was the wrong game. So I emailed the seller who said post it back and when I receive it, I'll post the right one. Well, i guessed it took a month to get back and a month before I recevied the new one. (as it took a month to arrive the first time)

I posted it back and never heard from her again. When I contacted paypal they told me after 3 months there was nothing they would do. I explained why it took 3 months to report it but they didn't care.

So now I will never buy anything from abroad.
Our dream has come true... :D

I am really sorry to hear that...I wonder if they ever did compensate any of their customers.

Hey, i had a ps3 for sale on ebay. I had it on buy it now and someone bought it.
I checked my paypal account and it said the funds had gone through so i posted it off special next day delivery. I withdrew the money from my account into my bank. Now a week later paypal sent me an e-mail saying the item was bought with a stolen CC and my account was frozen. It's now unfrozen but i have a balance of -£500, customer services say if i don't pay it within 90 days to paypal they'll get the debt collection agency in.

Paypal seem happy to just leave it at that, they're missing out the point someone signed for this ps3 at the address i sent it to, if this was fraud it should be reported to the police, but paypal seem to just be passing the buck onto me.
I thought if someone stole a cc the company compensated them.
Paypal claimed on the phone if someone went on a fraud spree and bought lots of items from stores ppl could go into ASDA etc and ask for the money back. Would the cc company have recovered the Fees from paypal or are they just claiming double money?

I plan on going to the police and reporting this, i find it completely unfair i have to come up with the full £500 because someone bought an item off me with a stolen CC. I have the address it was posted to and signed for.

This is such an inconvieniance to me, now i can't even pay my ebay fees because i'd have to pay the PP balance first and i can't use my debit card because it's registered at the PP account so gets denied.

Does anyone have any advice please?

    Hi there,

Ive also recently been the victim of an ebay scammer.

After doing some basic research it seems that this scammer is getting away with it time after time.

I dont know if you were scammed by the same person, but heres what Ive found out about the person who scammed me.

I'm currently pooling information on this person, with an aim to send a letter to paypal/ebay detailing this persons activities. The aim being that it will stop other people getting ripped off, and possibly lead to remuneration of the injured parties concerned.

Ive set up a basic website with information about the above -:

    http://information-x.110mb.com/ebs/

If you have any information to add please do.

Avoid anyone on EBAY with this address

    Andrew Macdonald
    48 Templars Court
    new road
    Nottingham
    NG7 3GT

The name can change so be aware of it. One current active ebay user name being used is g_dunstone, which maps to that address.

How paypal & ebay can be un aware of this is amazing.

    Many thanks

Thats why i think Martin should take on Paypal,He is the only one i believe that can do this,He helped with claiming from the banks,I think paypal are a rip off in there selfs but until some one can stop them then they are making billions,They even take the charges from the postage.
I think there must be something we can do to help sellers as well as buyers,I have had many probs with paypal but i always end up the loser.
I would go to there property and cause havoc so the police can be called then they have to listen.
Good luck but i don't think you will get your money bank

    Spew,

If you read from like page 4 again you'll see that your the one whose calling people spanners and idiots and telling them your not interested in what they have to say. This is a discussion forum so people are free to say what they like, be it constructive or not, just ignore idiots like myself if you wish.

You keep boasting about how much you make on ebay yet your rating is only 275..... and you sell mainly ipods at only 95 quid. Id assume there are many heavyweight members on this site with 4 figure ratings from selling items in excess of £1,000. Far bigger profit margins than on items of under £100.

So congrats on find a good little money earner but dont attempt to insult other sellers of whom you no nothing about.

Can we all just shake and make up because this is getting stupid!!
    With just cause.

No, I don't keep boasting, you keep attempting to get a rise out of me and generally being antagonistic.

You look at the rating, yet think all my dealings are on eBay? :rotfl: You "assume there are many heavyweight members.." - so what? It's not a competition, I'm doing well. What's your problem? Jealous?

I haven't insulted any other sellers, you've just made up stuff to try and make me look bad.

 What? You're the one that's antagonising it all and keeps responding with silly accusations, if you're the bigger man, then stop making it "stupid".

eBay own PayPal - I've gotten past the issue of fees now, as it's a service that performs well when they're not being idiots and taking money from people they're not allowed to.
