I'm at Uni and self-employed (making a lot) via eBay. I don't accept cheques, but via bank transfer and having the item sent via Special Delivery was as much as I could do. I don't have the time to ask every single buyer where they're from and all that, I have their address and I'm in the middle of claiming as their address isn't even their own. Until the past few weeks (with the two scams in a few days), I've had my feedback skyrocket and hadn't had any problems previous to this.

So your holier than thou attitude really isn't needed, nor did you offer any advice after receiving a bank transfer. Cheers for that.

Thankfully the similarities between us dont extent beyong being university ebay traders!

    Youre a spanner, go away.

    kriss_boy,

You are the OP of a thread asking about buying a derelict house for £80000 because one room was habitable. In response to the insults you have thrown around on this thread, my response would be something along the lines of 'pot - kettle - black'.

I seem to also remember you getting stuck with Parcelforce charges for an eBay transaction that you thought were unjustified ... such a successful eBayer!

No.... one wing of the property is habitable... the main body of the church is derelict but seperate non-the-less.

As for the parcelforce thing I have no idea what your talking about!! Unless you mean when..... erm wot was it.... TNT? I think it was TNT that invoiced me 8 months after I received the goods! Asking for import duty of £250. I still made a profit on the item though :money:

And what insults have I thrown around?!?! Spews the one calling me an ignorant little troll and someone else a spanner!! :D

There is no point trying to help many of the posters on this particular thread as they are too far up their own !!! to realise that others have opinions that don't necessarily match theirs. If you disagree with them they insult you. Nice.

I also have a similar problem with a Wii I sold back in January. I sent Special delievry to a confirmed address. Firstly Paypal put on hold and released when I sent the tracking no to prove it had been signed for at that address. Now they have filed a suspicious credit card claim and reversed the funds in my Paypal account It was signed for by a different name at the address - am I going to get stung for this? - I have no control over who signs at the address. Thx

Unfortunately I also find myself in a similar situation; I recently sold my used PSP on ebay in order to save some money for a holiday I WAS planning for the summer. I say "WAS planning" as I seriously doubt I will be going anywhere do this situation I now find myself in.

The PSP was sold last week and the buyer paid by PAYPAL, I hit the transfer funds to my account button and then posted the parcel off the next day via Royal Mail Special Delivery. A day later I receive a disturbing email from paypal saying that the transaction was unauthorized and that I should not post the item. Too late as I had, I phoned up paypal and they advised that I should have the parcel intercepted by Royal Mail. I immediately phoned Royal Mail who was closed for "Good Friday". The online tracking of my parcel showed that it had not yet been delivered. The next morning I phoned Royal Mail as soon as their offices opened at 08:00. They advised me that they could not intercept the parcel as per their terms and conditions which I found absolutely ridiculous, I told them about my situation and that a crime was being committed. The Customer Rep transferred me onto another Royal Mail Customer Rep who also said the same thing. The parcel was due to be delivered this day and it was a race against time so I phoned west Yorkshire Police (local police for the area my parcel was being posted to). I told them about my situation and that this was a criminal at large because at least 10 other people on Ebay had also been affected by this buyer. They said that they couldn’t actually do anything yet as no crime had been committed and that the buyer may not have realized that his payment had been unauthorized. I told the police that buy looking at the buyers recent transactions I was absolutely certain that he was a criminal and that they could catch him if they sent one of their guys to the address. They said that they would not be able to intercept the parcel and that I should get in touch with Royal Mail.

So...knowing that Royal Mail Customer Services was useless, I searched for the Royal Mail Delivery office in Leeds via the internet and managed to get through to someone. He advised me that IT IS POSSIBLE to have the parcel intercepted, I gave him the details but he said that his office did not deliver to that part of Leeds so he gave me the correct number. I phoned the two numbers he gave me but one went to answer machine and no-one answered the other line.

By this time I was fuming and also running out of time, so I phoned Royal Mail Customer Services again and told them of my situation AGAIN. The Rep said she would phone the delivery office and see if she could have the parcel intercepted and that she would phone me back. She phoned me back 5 minutes later and said that the guys who were delivering in that area were on their way back to the office and that they would have delivered it by now. She said that the only chance I had of getting my parcel back was if the buyer was not in, and that I should continue to check the online tracking system.

An hour later they updated the tracking system to state that the parcel had been delivered. So due to Royal Mail's incompetence at 8:00am in the morning when I initially rang, I have lost my PSP. I thought that the loss of my PSP was all I had to worry about; however after reading several forums, I am extremely alarmed to read that I also have to pay for the "STOLEN" PSP. Where’s the justice in that?

The next day I receive a call from my local police (they were following up on the call I made). I gave them a step by step account of everything that has happened. One thing that she did mention that was extremely disturbing was that these scammers don't actually live at the address that it is being posted to, instead they hang around the corner waiting for the delivery van and just as its approaching they make their way to the front door of the house and say "is that the parcel for xyz..?, thats mine..im just going in" so they sign for it and then disappear.

Im not too sure what will happen next in my case, I have filed a report with the police, paypal are still investigating (although im not expecting any good news from them).

I have written a long letter of complaint to Royal Mail, as I am holding them responsible for the loss of my parcel. They could have intercepted the parcel when I phoned them up but failed to.

I have also decided that once all this has been cleared up I will only use Paypal for buying things but NEVER FOR SELLING THINGS. It seems that they always favour the buyer not the seller.

Its common sense why Royal Mail claim they cannot intercept parcels, so its not their fault that although they attempted to do so they were unfortunately unsuccessful.

As for paypal, its not that they favour the buyer over the seller... they basically favour the scammer over the innocent victumn as they have more chance recovering the funds from us than them.

So, if I had told Royal Mail that there was a bomb in that parcel would they have said that they can't intercept due to terms and conditions?

The way I see it, that parcel in transit was still my property as it had not yet been delivered. So if I requested that it not be delivered they should have obliged. Also the fact that two reps said that they can't intercept whilst the third rep and the delivery office guy said that they can intercept proves that Royal Mail bodged it up for me. The police also said that Royal Mail should intercept my parcel.

I will make sure Royal Mail compensate me

Does anyone know if in my case where the item was delivered and signed for - albeit by a different name- can I claim from Post Office. Does Special Delivery mean they will deliver to that address or that person?

    Your being illogical.

The courier companies duty is to ensure the parcel is delivered. Apart from the logistics of allowing people to suddenly cancel parcels in transit at short notice, its also a matter of secrutiy. When the items handed over to the courier company a tracking code is generated and that has to be it. There cant be loop holes where people can provide proof of postage to buyers but then suddenly cancel it.

You got ripped off on ebay. Its nothing to do with parcelforce and trying to hold them responsible is utterly mental. Its obviously in their terms and conditions that parcels cannot be intercepted so whether or not a rep suggested they could do it does not change the fact that you posted the item based on those T n Cs.
