Then that's a deal, an early Christmas/Thanksgiving type meal on 25 November.

Roast chicken, roast potatoes made with King Edward potatoes, cabbage, carrots, roast onions, gravy, yorkies, cranberry sauce, mint sauce (I'm a heathen!). May buy an Aldi christmas pudding as they've had really good reviews. It'll be a good incentive to clear the dining table of clutter before then too!! Just need to pop on a bad jumper and watch Mary Poppins/Christmas films all day. :D

LL - don't feel guilty or a whistleblower. Obviously these issues need to be raised and you need to look out for yourself and your OH.

evilsquid - sorry to hear work is going so badly. I hope you get to speak to a manager and get something sorted.

I think 'aunt irma' has arrived today although I'm not sure as recently my TOTM has been all over the place. It used to be every 29 days like clockwork now I never know when to expect it. It's also extremely heavy and having to change my mooncup every hour which is exhausting and not fun. I've been to the dr twice now - her advice is to go on the pill; despite it being in my notes that hormonal birth control makes me suicidally depressed.
I've hassled her to write to the gynae people at the local hospital so they can have a better look and see what's going on.

Sorry been missing in action. not feeling very fab as I have lost my voice, and have a chestpain/cough style so am hankering down at home today, not going to venture out if I can help it at all. Got to do some house tidying, to make sure my DGD2 can toddle around freely and safely when she comes tomorrow for the weekend. Then I will have a good soak in the bath, have a heatpad on my back and relax as best i can this afternoon. Hopefully I will get back on track soon.
Hugs to those who need it, and I will try and catch up later. Mooloo

    Good morning everyoe.

Another poorly one here - lurgy's back and I'm feeling dreadful again. Awake half the night. I wish it would just get on with it, work it's way through and then go. Instead it's just lingering around.

Sparkles - you seem to have been poorly for ages now.

Anyway hope all the poorly ones feel a little better soon.

Squid - how awful your work sounds - is there anyone - Personnel Dept or whatever you can talk too. What you describe comes over as bullying. Just awful.

Bratz - make an appt with your GP sweetie. Do you always see the same one. Is there another one in the practice it might be worth having a chat to. It may well be that you need some form of contraceptive pill or some form of hormone treatment to regulate your periods but this should not be the first choice. They need to investigate first.

Lizzie - I so agree - letter writing is a bit of a lost art. It's sad how many people no longer know how to pen a proper letter, whether it's a business letter or a thank you letter. As for love letters .....Do young women ever receive proper love letters these days. A saucy text may be fun but it's not the same as a beautiful, slightly erotic love letter.;)

I agree about the "crappy" jobs and how you are supposed to gush and wax lyrical. Complete farce. Obviously an applicant needs to show willing and able so a little display of enthusiasm and interest is required. I do so hate it when businesses or individuals say "I'm passionate about x y or z." How can you feel passion for widgets or whatever.

Surely passion is what you feel for lovers. Love is for partners etc whilst total bonkers no questions asked adoration is what we feel for our kids or dogs. :rotfl:

I once knew a man who kept a photo of his loved one on his desk. You've guessed it - his dog.:rotfl: He was married but there wasn't a picture of his wife. Luckily said wife saw the funny side and wasn't offended.

Not sure what today will bring. I was supposed to go to physio this morning but I've postponed it till Monday - just can't face it. I was going to have a little mooch round some of my favourite Chazza shops after - but again I'm not up to it.

I do have a pile of paperwork to work through:( What fun....

Not visiting OH today so will stay indoors and keep warm and cosy, tackle said paperwork, have a bit of a tidy up and a bit of a rest.

Must try and do a bit of fabbing too. Feeling a bit bedraggled at the moment....So I'm going to slope off have a nice warm bath and a bit of pampering.

    Have a good day.
  • Hi everyone!

I've not been online for a few days, so I've got a few things to mention!

Hewie - I really agree with fedupandskint's advice. Because I did this with my nan, it has given me a lot of lovely moments to look back on. Please accept a virtual hug and a virtual cup of tea!

bratz - the wardrobe tidying...is worse!!! I went on a bit of a clothes buying spree at the weekend (clothes that make me feel FAB!) so I'm going to sort it all out today. Promise! ;)

PP - Christmas is a tricky one! Over the years my OH and I have done all sorts of combinations to try and make everyone happy (including spending Christmas apart, together, splitting days and locations - everything). Last year I had the worst Christmas ever for various reasons and something snapped inside me and I just can't do it any more. Yesterday I had a chat with my parents and explained I won't be going to see them. I'm going to spend Christmas in my own house and we will have OH's parents over. It can be really hard, but I think if you're in a position to do what feels right for you, you should do it. If you want to spend Christmas with your family this year, I think you should. You can always do the mini Christmas with your OH before or after so you can spend 'Christmas' with him too (Great suggestion mineallmine ) I am doing this with my family in early December, so we don't totally miss out on having a 'Christmas' together.

Bitsy - thank you so much for sharing that website! I love 50s style dresses. I will probably get one in the style you suggested once I'm a smaller size. In the meantime though, I really love the swing dresses (and I have one with an epic petticoat). Anyone who is saying they wouldn't have an occasion to wear one - trust me - you will find occasions to wear a dress like that if you have it!

LL - I've been reading everything you have written and I think you deserve more than anything to use the money you've been given to treat yourself. Go to Paris if it's what you want to do. :D

As for me, I'm doing really well. I've been visiting family, which was lovely and relaxing. They also gave me a lot of nice compliments about my appearance and weight loss, which is always nice to hear!

I cut my hair at the weekend and I really like how it looks now. Still sticking to Paul McKenna. I've been pretty much preaching about it (he should pay me really) and my family all started eating slowly while I was with them! :rotfl:

Having a PJs day today (have this week off work). Going to make the most of having the day to myself and do a bit more house tidying, fabbing and watch some more Sex and the City!

    Have a great day! xx
Not buying any more 1.)books 2.)toiletries, esp. LUSH! 3.)stationery, unless absolutely necessary!

I am concentrating upon feeling better today! I am fedup of feeling like this.

Have sorted out, recycled, piled ready for shredding and FILED AWAY 3 years worth of paperwork. Really pleased I have done this and am ontop of all paperwork all tidied away into folders. A point from this was sorting through old receipts and seeing how much money I wasted upon things 3yrs ago when I was at my absolute lowest point. It made me feel embarrassed and ashamed of how I used to behave with money. The corner has been turned in regard to this as I attempt to look after every penny these days.

It opened my eyes to this, no more sticking head in the sand where money and debts are concerned and all on top of things now heading forwards and a lot happier I've faced up to things at long last.

So, that's my fabbness for today - a good job done.

As for other news - off for some blood tests this afternoon after a very disappointing appt with a dr yesterday afternoon who didn't really listen to what I had to say, will have a chat with the nurse about having the flu jab if that's possible

I am joining the ranks of the poorly and peed off today :o
Rubbish nights sleep, kept going hot and then cold. Feel rubbish today, sneezing, earache, bunged up.....generally need a bag on my head to hide the peaky red rimmed eyes and lacklustre hair.
So no decorating today, mothers orders. I am however taking advantage of a sit down day and working on my accounts because they have to be done before Jan 31st and I don't want to be panicking about getting it submitted. I've consumed over half a packet of Jaffa cakes though whilst doing it :o:o:o Oh feed a cold and all that ;)

Cherryprint glad PMcK is working well. I've rooted out the books again to read (have the journal) but confess I am not really sticking to it :o:o

LL don't feel bad about reporting failures at the home. As nice as the matron is if she was really doing her job none of this would be happening xx Hope you feel better soon xxx

Sparkles how annoying the Dr didnt listen to you  Well done on getting your filing done :T

Bratz I feel your pain. Prior to having mirena coil my monthlies were like your, emptying mooncup every hour. No wonder I was so badly anaemic  Dr made references to ablation or taking some pills but you really need to get it seen to so nag nag away xx

lizzie I agree letter writing is a lost art!

    Mooloo feel better soon xxx

Mineallmine you're making me hungry describing that dinner :)

Hugs and high fives all round xxx

Gold dress I ordered has come. What a disappointment I have to say. It massively gapes front AND back :( So that will be returned.

  • Afternoon All,

Hugs to those who need them / feeling poorly.

On lunch break this thread keeps me sane in work.

Got next week off work just slighty excited, got my mum visiting to do xmas shopping, visiting friends with new babies, looking after my niece and helping my sister move house, oh and look for a new job and sort my wardrobe & a have a general good clear out! Plus the usual gym classes, brownies and a wedding reception.

That lot should keep me out of mischief!

    EH xx

    Hi all,

evilsquid - sorry work isn't getting any better, I hope your meeting with the higher boss goes well - you can't keep going on like that :(

Lizzie - well done on your creative writing assignment :T I think the first one is always hardest so now you've got that out of the way am sure you will be flying along!

EH - that does sound like a busy week, enjoy :)

Sorry so many of you are poorly at the moment - think it's the time of year for all kinds of lurghies. Hope you all feel better soon x

Feeling a bit frazzled this week to be honest - work is annoying me more then usual, have Nano to get on with plus OH's dissertation - the latter wouldn't be so bad if I could just get on with but his oh so helpful tutors keep asking for updates, outlines, parts of chapters - so I have to break off what I'm actually doing to try and throw something together for that! Have almost caught up to my on target word count for Nano so feeling a little better on that - though not quite sure what comes next in the story now! :o Hopefully it will come to me :rotfl:Going to the meetup/write in again on Sat I think and then meant to be meeting a friend for coffee on Sunday so looking like another busy weekend.
