Time to Switch

Given that this sticky thread starts with Martin's tip from April 07 that it is time to switch, it is potentially very confusing, since we are again approaching the time when we are trying to decide whether to switch. If you don't spot the date, you could assume Martin is about to advise that it is time to switch.
(I realise that there is some recent discussion in the thread, but it could easily be carried out in other threads.)koru0 -
THINK i MUST HAVE SPOKEN TO THE SAME LADY YESTERDAY , OUR £91 PER MONTH SHOULD BE INCREASED TO £166 PER MONTH TO COVER £130 OWING
(WHICH WE HAVE EVERY WINTER DUE TO OUR STORAGE HEATERS).TOLD HER FELT LIKE PAYING THE £130 BY CREDIT CARD AND FINDING ANOTHER SUPPLIER FOR GAS AND ELEC. , INSTEAD OF BEING LOYAL TO E-ON FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS.SHE REALLY COULDNT BE BOTHERED AT ALL
JUST NEED ADVICE NOW ABOUT SWITCHING BOTH GAS AND ELECT. AS HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFOREThe truth shall set you free.....................0 -
Miggiwoo, switching is pretty easy and in the majority of cases goes smoothly. Use the comparison sites and put your annual units used. You can switch online but makesure you shop around for cashback and always give your new Supplier your handover reading.
The new Supplier then will pass this to your old Supplier. The new Supplier does all of the legwork, you don't need to do anything with your old one except pay the final bill (and makesure it matches the readings you give)
It's not surprising though that call centre people come across that way but there is nothing they can do to help you. Their board of directors set the prices, then the call centre bods take all the flack (remember they are probably just as annoyed at their bills going up):rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Has anyone got recent experience of Sainsbury's Energy (EDF)? Considering it after speaking to someone instore today, but want to be sure that swapping to it (from British Gas and Eon) is a sensible move to make.

Hi, was just reading this forum and just had to let you all in on a little gem I came across a while ago. I personally got fed up of switching to try and keep on the lowest tariff so i done some research on the net and found a company called the utility warehouse discount club owned by telecom plus plc. They offer a tripe value guarantee on gas and electric. Apparently the big companies like british gas spend a million pounds a day on advertising, who pays for it? their customers! The utility warehouse dont advertise, they get customer through word of mouth only, they have 200,000 apparently, savings are passed onto the customer giving a cheaper rate guaranteed, they remain competitive with the 'big 6' suppliers and guarantee to be cheaper than british gas for gas and your local electricity supplier for electric. All above board, fully regulated by ofgem and ofcom. Nice to know I hav'nt got to worry about chasing the cheapest rates anymore. If you want to look at guarantee I will give the link where i signed up, hope thats ok with the site people www.tinybills.com0
