Time to Switch

Thought I'd give forumites a heads up first. Im about the change the Gas & Electricity to 'Time to Switch'. There are a few reasons for doing so
1. The clock's been ticking since the first price cuts, so its important to get a move on.
2. I've gathered reliable but not infallible info that says both Scottish Power & EDF (the two that haven't announced cuts) are locked into expensive contracts and thus trying to hold off price cuts - and when they do - they're not likely to be competitive.
3. All the online tariffs have now dropped.
So overall it seems there's no point in waiting. The article will be updated in the next few days, but in the meantime all the links so you can switch and get cashback are in the un-updated article Switch Gas & Elec and get cashback

I am on british gas click energy, does it count as a 'switch' for cash back purposes if I switch to the cheapest supplier 'click energy2'?I think....0

Depends on whether BG would agree, as they would have to give the ok to the switchers. You might get away with it, nothing ventured?
Also Quidco worth a look, as they are supposed to give £20 per fuel switch to BG and £5 per fuel with internal switch.
I switched BG standard to Click2 and Quidco def. are chasing £20  , be interesting to see the outcome.;)

Thanks - was thinking of doing quidco to uswitch route - only 18 quid but I thought coming through uswitch might add enough steps to get me the cashback :-)I think....0 -
Thanks for this, switched to click2 dual fuel & got £40 tracked in Quidco (I am existing gas customer but not electric)0

It has just taken me 3 months to switch my Gas and 6 months to switch my electricity to British Gas using one of the moneyback links from this site (it has taken so long I have forgotten who!)
Please bear this in mind when saying "it's time to switch" as you and I know 6 months is a lot of price changes in the gas and electricity world.

I switched to nPower last August on the advice of MSE and saved quite a bit on my electricity and gas. I would like to change again and based on my current usage the recommendation for me seems to be PowerGen. However, when I signed up for nPower they offered a deal of £60 if I stayed with them for 12 months. The 12 months isn't up until August. Should I wait until August to get my £60 and then sign up with PowerGen or should I cut my losses and move now? The approximate savings of moving to PowerGen will be £100 per year.
Anyone with the same predicament?0 -
i switched to scottish power february before the one weve just had, have become totally cheezed off by the sheer no of different tarrifs scottish power now have in operation seems to be like the game some savings institutions play ( keep launching new accounts which soon become mediocre) so ive just applied to switch back to british gas through moneysupermarket, even though npower came out 5.00 cheaper than british gas i avoided npower as with npower around 85% of the quoted cheaper price is only achieved once someone has been with npower for 12 months.
ive also taken the "tariff maze" up with scottish power, 14 months ago i went with "online energy saver 1" which was at the time the cheapest scottish power tariff for my circumstances, over the weekend i had some exchanges with scottish power this is what they said
"I am sorry to hear you have encountered a problem with your ScottishPower account.
To enable us to ensure your on the best possible tariff and prices, please call our Energy Assured Call Centre on Freephone telephone number 0800 400 200 select option 2, where one of our Energy Assured Call Centre Agents can go through a pricing quote for you.
We try to offer all our customers the same packages, why not call the telephone number above and ask about our Online Energy Saver 2 or 3 Tariff or our Capped"
so in 14 months scottish power have launched 2 new online energy saver tariffs, in addition i went back to moneysupermarket input details as if i was a british gas click 2 online energy customer to see which was the cheapest scottish power tariff in my circumstances and the answer wasnt any of the "online savers" ( not no 1 nore no 2 nore no 3) but in fact "no standard charge monthly direct debit tariff" online saver no 1 btw is paperless and monthly direct debit
scottish power chose to treat my dissatisfaction as a complaint does anyone know if complaints will delay a switch of companies0 -

u might find it usefull to get a comparison from more than 1 comparison/switching site because i found that money supermarket and uswitch gave different results possible reason might be that money supermarket appears to factor in npowers price decreases ( which dont come into effect until 30th april)0 -
Unfortunately, the comparison sites seem to show that I'm better off sticking with my current supplier scottish power.0
