Hi there, I have recently bought a flat and established that my gas and electricity suplier is Swalec (part of Scottish Power). It seems I am on a Standard Tariff for Gas and Online Saver for Electricity.
Since NPower has announced a huge price rise, I want to switch to Swalec Price Fix 2008 tarif (until November 2008). Can I get cashback from any of the usual sites for switching tarif but not switching supplier?
Thanks for your help?
Susann
scottish power is now owned by spaniosh firm ibedrola and sse energy is british.0 -
Before the end of January most of the big energy suppliers will have followed NPower's lead and increased their prices by obscene amounts. If you are not already on a capped rate then now is the time to switch to one. The best one for most people is the Scottish Power Price Fall (Capped Tariff), which gives you capped prices until 31/10/2008.
I switched to Scottish Power 3 months ago and went onto their Online Energy Saver 4 Tariff as this was (for us) £7 a month less than their Price Fall tariff, however in view of the inevitable rise that is coming up, now is the time to switch to their Price Fall Tariff.
If you are already with Scottich Power, a single freephone call to 0800 400200 is all you have to do. I called them yesterday and at the same time increased my monthly payment my £7 and gave them my current meter readings. The lady I spoke to said that since Npower's announcement they had takes a huge number of calls from people switching to their Price Fall Tariff. If this is the case it will not be long before they announce their rise, so get on the phone and switch while there is still time.
If you are not with Npower the switch will take about 4 weeks but you will still go onto their Price Fall Capped Tariff providing you call contact them before the rise is announced.IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0 -

Click 4 with Brit Gas would save £265

AFAIK, there's no tie-ins with British Gas click 4.
Plus Quidco may pay £60.00 cashback for a dual fuel swap to BG...0 -

I switched to Scottish Power just after Christmas and am currently in the cooling off period so could cancel. I switched whilst Martin was on the amber alert before the Npower rise so was taken aback by the quick change to the circumstances. Would the general advice be to cancel and see what happens or should I just switch now and if necessary switch again when the dust settles?
Any advice much appreciated :beer:0 -

Eeeeeeeeeeeek! I've just switched to British Gas from SWALEC (South Wales Electricity) because they reckoned they'd save me £175 per year, then I had a call from Scottish Power, who said they could undercut further and cap till November, so I said yes. I'm in a cooling off period, but don't know which way to jump. Any advice as above, please???DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

Hi there
Just thought I'd mention this little tale for anyone thinking of changing to EON - my parents are with them and have been for a while. Today they received a letter saying their monthly payments were being increased from £58/month to £94/month. My dad called them and said they couldn't afford that much of a monthly increase and they could pay up to £63/month and the woman told them to change their provider then!!!! Now, there's a woman with short term job prospects. Certainly makes me think that EON aren't bothered about their customers!Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:Virgin CC £9793.710 -

You get those idiots in all these companies, just someone who can't bothered to try to help.
Check their bills, make sure they are being calculated based on firm readings. If the estimates are too high, the DD's will also be.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
