SuiDreams - I can assure you the Online energy saver 3 is more beneficial for you. yes the discount is only £15.75 and its £63 on the Saver 2. But the unit prices for Gas on the Saver 3 are far cheaper than the previous offer. Its on average about £70 a year cheaper than the saver 2.
Spoken to scottish Power themselves today and checked the prices Electricity stays the same and Gas Standing Charge the same just the rate for gas different. 2.174p on energy 3 and 2.473 on energy 2. last years usage was 9235 units
= £200.77 on Energy saver 3
= £228.38 on Energy Saver 2
Difference in Discount is greater than saving on gas. It would only be worth me switching if our Gas usage goes up and we're currently trying to decrease it. All the comparison sites show the same thing that I'm better off with Energy Saver 20 -
My comment on scottish power.
I think these are the same company as Atlantic Electric who I am with.
My sister is with powergen and pays 19p per unit and has a cut taking this down but still above 15p per unit
My most recent bill shows a rise from 8p per unit to 9p per unit this bill was dated last week, but I did get a letter in Jan this year saying price drops are coming so its very confusing how there has since been a price increase.
So I think it is very hard to judge whats cheap and whats not, ultimately the unit price is the factor but these arent published only estimated bills are.
My last powergen bill from my old address back in 2006 was charged at 13p per unit for nights and 19p per unit for days.0 -
atlantic were bought by Scottish and Southern not Scottish Power although SSE may soon be bought out by E-ON who own Powergen (just speculation at the moment though)0

I was with BG & got a letter to say that as I had signed up for the prize freeze last year, my bills wouldn't come down til December this year !!
Did a quote on USWITCH which said Powergen would be £340 better of PA - so I switched via quidco & it's currently been tracked.....0 -
anyone on fix fall should switch anyone on the 2009 price fix december version without the leaving penalty should also give serious consideration to swtiching to.0

Cor, I'm confused
I'm with EDF for both Gas & Elec, but by the looks of it, my pence per kwh for gas is far and away cheaper than anyone else anyway - although my electric seems higher
I have used U Switch and Energyhelpline and typed in all the details and when clicking on their top picks, it shows the pence per kwh for the recomended companies
Is there a way of comparing supplier by pence per kwh instead of yearly consumption?0 -
Be very careful when switching providers that you are repaid any credit owing. When I switched from Scottish Power to EDF last year I received final gas and electricity bills. The Gas account was in debit and Scottish Power automatically took a direct debit from my bank account to cover it. However the Electricity account was in credit and although it stated very clearly that ‘No Further Action Was Required’ Scottish Power did not automatically refund my money.
Some months later I asked for a refund, plus interest and/or a goodwill compensation payment, I did receive the refund but interest/compensation was not forthcoming since Scottish Power stated that the final bill indicated that the refund had to be claimed. This was not true. I wonder how many of their ex-customers have failed to claim a refund believing that ‘No Further Action Was Required’. Potentially a nice little earner for the companies.0 -

I am with EDF dual fuel. I did a Uswitch search and it came up as BG £80 pa cheaper, EDF didn't even get a mention. I went onto the House website, took the figures and put them into my spreadsheet and it came out as more than I am paying with EDF. Both gas and electric unit costs were higher with BG. Have just had an EDF bill this week so I am using the latest prices.
The moral being don't take anything at face value. Check before switching.0 -
I've looked at U Switch and Simply Switch before, but my boyfriend told me about Xelector. Cant see any mention of them on the site. Anyone used them before? What are the differences between these switching sites? Do they all have the same companies on them or are the prices different?0
-
I had a look at xelector, it only features the big 6 (without ebico, utilita or utility warehouse). Also it doesn't have all the tariffs available from the companies it does list.0
