There is just over £20 on there and I thought about stocking up my food cupboard with it a bit... What do you guys spend Nectar points on?
I save them for Christmas food. Usually I have about £60 worth but I don't think it'll even be £50 this year - just shows how much I've cut back on my grocery shopping :rotfl:.Does anyone know if it would work to make a pie (filling like shepherds pie) and put slices of cooked potato on the top instead of mash? I'm sure I've seen pies that like before.....
Had a really rubbish sausage & onion pie from Tesco tonight (it's friday so I don't cook proper food). Thought the boys would like it but they don't and it's completely tasteless! And we still have half left 'cos OH is sick and not eating much.....
I put cooked shepherd's pie filling in dish then 1 layer of cooked potato slices, followed by another layer of each - top with cheese and cook in oven - 'tis yummy.

Right. Really need to get a grip with the grocery spends. I have a reasonable amount of food in the freezer/fridge/pantry and cupboards and since ,i cannot think of any food item i will 'need' to go out to purchase, i am swearing off grocery spends for the next week.
Will try to pop on here each evening in an attempt to hold myself accountable.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

So far so good! I've still spent the grand total of £2.88, with a whopping 4 out of 5 nsds! Will prob have one spend day over the weekend, although I'm trying to make it so that my weekly shop is on a Monday. So far on the list is: toothbrush, bananas, squash, milk, bread. Don't even know what my meal plan is for this week, but I WILL write it before I go shopping! If I go during the weekend I'll have the children with me, so could turn out more expensive...
Off to bed, then do my meal plan once I'm awake and hopefully not so tired, come the morning!!
Night all,

Are there any other good ways to put money aside? It's not realistic for me to buy food to take to hers (it has to be train travel friendly).

jedi82 - I personally think its good to stock up, but if you do your stocking up only when they are bogof or half price, then you will be quids in.0

Have really surprised myself this week, as we have lived mainly out of the freezer and I have baked a fair bit for the pieceboxes. Last night was a treat - bought the Tesco meal deal at £10, and have only been £7 earlier in the week when I popped in for bread, only other spend was 2 cans of diet coke at work so in all this week is coming in at £18.40 - really pleased with myself! Off to make a meal plan for this week using up more freezer stocks, but will need to go to Tescos later on as needing the basics like cheese, bread etc so hoping to limit myself to £25 - I will mentally calculate the costings as I go round!Every days a School day!0

The beans were 4 for £1.04 in L!dl so don't feel too bad. Am just so frustrated that I spend too much money at the beginning of the month, it really feels as if I haven't learnt anything sometimes!
Gonna try not to spend today and might do some baking as have loads in. I quite fancy the chilli cornbread on the front page, will have with our chilli tonight. Will let you know how it goes.
Have a good day all

I feel a bit like this too, your not on your own! Your trying to save money and end up spending more! Ive spent my whole first weeks budget just on stocking up... never mind anything else!!
Im hoping though that over the next few weeks, fresh meat and a little veg (plus bread and milk) will be all that I need to buy! Thats the plan anyway, whether or not I can put it into practise remains to be seen!
Im sure youll have put yourself in a great position for the rest of the month... try not to be too tough on yourself. And if you are scrimping again at the end of the month... you wont be aloneSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Nothing spent yet this month, mostly because I was working away last week and we are moving DS this weekend (yesterday we emptied, cleaned, painted and re-floored his now accommodation - got home about 01:00). Back today for furniture assembly. Must shop today or tomorrow as I am milk monitor Monday at work.
Emotions in check because we are so busy but he is my one and only and he is so excited...
Just baking a loaf before we load up the landy with all the flat pack stuff. I might make some Twinks' hobnobs while I'm waiting.
Stay frugal everyone
