I have also been spending a lot at the start of the month and then scrimping a bit at the end. But...... The way I see it is at the start of the month I buy a lot of dry goods to last the month/or stock up on. Then during the rest of the month it's a bit easier to see just how much I have to spend on non essentials (chocolate/wine etc). It does work for me and if I have a big, expensive shop to start with filled with important stuff then I spend less on rubbish in that shop. Although I don't stock up on that much compared with some people on here (not a judement btw) I do like to feel my cupboards are 'full'!

  • I am posting £32.02 so far though am a little disappointed as looking at my till receipt, had I gone to Asdf, it would have been cheaper. Mr. T is more expensive:mad::mad:. Anyway lesson learnt.. Avoid Mr. T especially after a stressful shift and avoid the £10 meals as well :(.

Anyway, no grocery shopping today but will be going to Asdf tmrw and hopefully spend no more than £10 for coming week. This is to include my packed lunches as well..

On the bright side, I have spent no money on toiletries though have been really tempted. If I can last the whole of October, I will be chuffed lol...

Annoyed with myself for spending a £1 on 2 Wispa Duo's for a TV snack tonight! Didn't need them, have plenty of treats in the house if I'd wanted them! Grrr.

Just been to Morri$ons and got fruit & veg. Brought a cauli for £0.95 expensive but it is huge and as well as having some tomorrow with the roast it will do us for a couple of other meals in the week.

Off out soon to watch grandson play football and hope it doesnt rain. Have got some soup in a flask and some museli bars that I made yesterday for afterwards.

Enjoy the weekend and try not to spend too much. x

Managed to stay on track today with £5.32 today on fruit and yoghurts bringing the total to £20 this week which should see me through to next Friday before the next weeks spends start.

Total is about £60 for the month so far - £40 left!

  • Disastrous start to the month. Had planned on weekly grocery budgets of 2 x £40 and 2 x £30. However last weeks spends went over the £40 and this weeks spends have gone over the £30, leaving me with £50 for w/c 13th and 20th. This is not good.

I know why this has happened my appetite has deserted me or more accurately i am not fancying anything at the mo, have gone right off some foods particularly what i seem to have in the freezer, and i constantly feel yuk. so had to shop mid week to buy some bits that i could actually face. I am hoping i have enough bits in for this week and half of next week, and i get my lunches free at work.

    Spends so far of £85.36

  • Thanks for getting back to me about the second purse thing, I just think I would get too confused to do it lol.
Can I ask if anyone gose to the shops everyday just to see what YS things are there, and if good deals pick them up, or do most just look for YS as and when they need them, Thanks

Small spend yesterday of £2 on two deodorants (on offer). Technically it's still OH's week but I only bought them as I forgot to add them to the Mr A order due tomorrow so I'm paying for them out of GC budget.

Had banana milkshake for breakfast with bananas from freezer, took an apple out with me for when I got hungry, and made tuna salad for me and OH for lunch with a tin of tuna, a bag of questionable salad leaves (picked the wilted ones out), some extremely brown spring onions, leftover olives, half a leftover lemon and dollops of mayonnaise. Not quite as nice as salad made with fresh ingredients but still tasty and very thrifty :D

Spag bol from the freezer for dinner tonight :D

I feel a bit like this too, your not on your own! Your trying to save money and end up spending more! Ive spent my whole first weeks budget just on stocking up... never mind anything else!!

Im hoping though that over the next few weeks, fresh meat and a little veg (plus bread and milk) will be all that I need to buy! Thats the plan anyway, whether or not I can put it into practise remains to be seen! :o

Im sure youll have put yourself in a great position for the rest of the month... try not to be too tough on yourself. And if you are scrimping again at the end of the month... you wont be alone :D

No - that will be me too :o. I've spent £255/£400 and have 2 weeks still to go. I'd like to say I've stocked up but I haven't - I'm not quite sure where the money's gone really apart from we must not have been very frugal with the dinners we've been eating! I'm going to go on the £7 week menu planning ideas thread to see whether I can be a bit more frugal next week. Is it just me or does money just seem to disappear? I think there must be a money grabbing monster in my purse :rotfl:.

I just look for YS things when I'm there anyway.
