Ignore them. Any letters you receive, file them and forget them. Anyone who calls about it, hang up without saying anything. Find out if your 'phone allows you to block numbers, and if not consider getting one that does.

You've already marked yourself out as a soft touch by taking them seriously so far, so now they will hassle you for a while longer, but if you IGNORE them completely from now on they will eventually give up and crawl back into their slime pit.

Remember, you owe them nothing, it is all a SCAM.

I received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd to say my charge has been passed to them and I now owe £150 within 7 days.
    I called them straight away...

I realise you are new to these forums but I cannot understand why you thought you should phone these scumbags and why you are still thinking of contacting UKPC. Do you also engage in conversation and emails with Nigerian phishing email scammers? Similar con, only by snail mail.

JUST IGNORE THEM from now on, it's what you should have done in the first place!

Now they have your phone number so as well as the letters (which are dead easy to ignore as we can show you a preview of each one!) you will also get phoned up regularly. A small mistake by you to contact them - but easily dealt with.

Next time the idiot rings interrupt him and say:

''I have taken advice and must tell you that the alleged debt is denied. Any further contact from your company, or the parking company, or any other agent - by phone or by letter - will be viewed as harassment which is a criminal offence. Tell the parking company to take me to Court if they believe they have a case but otherwise not to contact me again at all.'' PHONE DOWN, NO DISCUSSION. {That will stop the phone calls or they will be breaking the law}.

As for those letters, you should have just played snap with them. See the third from top thread, 'PPC letter chains'. Also watch the Watchdog clip on there to see a solcitior confirm that the best bet was always to ignore the whole scam.

    :)

Obviously I realise that now after reading other posts!!

I was going to contact ukpc but I had not yet done it so have taken all advice and will not contact them again, I have pulled off you comment to tell anyone if they do call which is useful thank you.
  • Having got the full collection of letters I thought I'd heard the end of he matter.
But recently the debt company have started phoning me.
Is this an established practice, and what do I do about them?

It is a practice that is known about, yes, but you can stop them from calling.

To see other threads just search the parking forum (not the whole MSE forum!) for 'phone calls and the name of the debt collector'. For instance, 'phone calls Roxburghe' finds loads of threads talking about how to nip the calls in the bud completely. It's easy to get rid of these parasites.

  • MAJ2011,

I am familiar with the retail park you mention and have been there many times but I've never been lucky enough to be ticketed. I must try harder!

I'm glad to see you're not giving in to these parasites. Just enjoy the fact that they will throw away good money after bad in their futile attempt to scam you. :rotfl:

Tell anyone that will listen about the scamming parasites currently infesting private carparks.

Comeback here for reasurance whenever necessary.
  • Hi I'm 90% sure I already know the answer to this but irregardless...

I received a parking notice from UKPP yesterday for parking in a permit zone with no permit, granted it was my fault but I didn't even realise at the time!

Just for the purpose of clarification the fact everyone else had a permit but me makes no difference to me just plain ignoring the barrage of letters does it? If it makes any difference it was at a friends flat on the private car park.

    Thanks!

It makes no difference, just ignore. You know it makes sense.

  • Thanks, just thought maybe due to people paying for permits and what not.

You've settled my questioning mind, thanks for the quick replies!
