UK Parking Patrol & Debt Recovery Plus Ltd

Hi. New to the forums and just seeking a bit of clarity and advice.

I have read countless posts about the same type of thing but would just like someone to comment on my particular circumstance.

I received a parking ticket (Black & yellow official looking one headed "UK PARKING PATROL OFFICE) on 13/02/12. It was my mistake for parking in a bay reserved for public parking on Saturday & Sunday only. In my hurry, I read that as "Reserved on Sat & Sun" and parked there despite it being a Monday. I paid at the machine, displayed my ticket and left. There were probably at least 20 other available bays to park in so it was my stupidity for not parking in one of them but nonetheless, I was in a rush and clearly wasn't trying to avoid parking charges.

I returned to the £60 fine as described above but, having read all the forums etc, chose to ignore it. On 16/03/12 I received a further official style letter from The UK Parking Patrol Office telling me the fine was now £90 and needed paying in 14 days or it would be passed to debt recovery agents. I again ignored this.

This morning, some seven months later, I have received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd telling me the fine is now £150 and if I don't pay, county court proceedings will be commenced.

I honestly thought it had long since been forgotten about but the fact I have received this after all this time has un-nerved me. I'm sure that this the intention but it's worked! I can't really risk court due to my job. Is this another scare tactic that I should ignore or is that a big gamble?

At NO point throughout have I made ANY contact or communication with anyone about the fine. I still have all correspondence and even have the pay & display ticket I paid for and a photo of the sign stating that the bay was reserved for public parking on Sat & Sun only, which is a little misleading in design (well, for wallys like me it clearly is!)

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.

  • Firstly , it is not a FINE.
Just continue to IGNORE. The letters you have recieved are all part of the process designed to part you from your money.
Your story is no different from the countless other stories on this forum.
You also paid the parking fee so you have caused them no loss whatsoever.
    Relax and ignore.

  • If it helps, I have had enough dealings with Debt Recovery Plus including one live matter. But I've seen the ending enough times, mine is scheduled to end about December.

Debt collectors are not the law, as a matter of fact they are acting oustide of it when pursuing alleged debts not proven in court. And the parking company that issued your invoice (NOT fine per Surfboy) can never take you to court, they don't know that as registered keeper you drove and the amount they are seeking exceeds actual losses - prohibited in Contract Law.

All your antagonists (the landowner, debt collector and private parking company) know that their demand is a scam, so there is no point trying to tell them this - and even letting them know that you are aware is a waste of time because they plough on regardless. Their loss, they lose money on stamps and administration. Keep it that way!
  • Funny that. I had this stupid 'parking fine' about same time as you, 14 February 2012 in Salford Quays. And straight googled this UK Parking Patrol' scammer. Chose to ignore all the letters from them and yesterday I got a letter from the debt recovery company. After reading this thread, I will do the same to this letter like I did with the rest - make a paper aeroplane and fly it off my apartment balcony. Panic over.
  • Spot on! Just do that.
  • i recieved a parking fine for parking out of a space at farnborough train station in may. i used the template from this website to refute it on the basis i did pay for parking, had not blocked any emergency access, others had done the same and the signage was not clear which railway byelaw i had contravened.
they wrote to my work because its a company car so i ahd to write to them to stop the letters being sent to work. yesterday i recieved a letter saying they had looked into my appeal but it would remain but as a goodwill gesture they would put the charge of £120 on hold for 14 days. they did not answer my question regarding the railway byelaw. i also recieved the letter 22 days after the date of the letter so exceeding the 14 days. today i have recieved a letter from debt recovery plus ltd telling me i have 7 days to pay or they will take me to county court.
what shall i do? many thanks

It's not a bylaw ticket if they are threatening county court and small claims. Bylaw tickets always go to magistrates court and the appeal is there. If they are pretending its a bylaw ticket I'm not 100% sure but that sounds like deception and should be reported maybe to the dvla
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

IGNORE THE WHOLE LETTER CHAIN, PLAY SNAP WITH OUR THREAD OF PICTURES.

Like all the other posters on this board, you have a fake PCN. They always threaten County Court but don't actually go there. It's a scare tactic. Who is your PPC, is it MET or Meteor or some other rubbish firm?

When dealing with "tickets" from private parking companies (PPCs) our advice for tickets received up until the end of September is to ignore them as long as it's your car (with a company car more action is needed - but in your case you have already jumped through that hoop perfectly and got the scammers to write to you).

So now you are just in the middle of the usual 'threatogram' letter chain and can play a nice game of snap with them.

Tick off the threatening letters here.

Watchdog clip with expert Solicitor's opinion here.

    Barrister's opinion here.

Show your friends & family the links and play snap against the pictures!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
