Thats an assumption, how can you know there is a bed out there for MY NEEDS for less money that is better specs.
You can't.
If you had left it at less money you may well be right, who knows. But you cannot say they are better specs for less money
Its that "I'm know best about beds & ONLY my opinion is valid attitude" that people are talking about.
We all own a bed on here & we are all entitled to say if we find our own bed comfortable/the-dogs/rubbish.
Yes you are entitled to describe your mattress exactly how you like. However I do know that you can get a higher spec for less money because I do know mattresses.
You chose to go for a big brand, and that is your choice, but you can't say that because you made that choice that there aren't any better options on the market.0 -

I made my choice because after trying out many beds over a long period, we both felt it was the one for us.
IMHO there is no higher spec, my bed is heaven/perfection/sleeping-on-a-cloud.0 -

You continuously contradict yourself by saying that people should listen to you when you have only tried out one mattress, and that all the 1000's of reviews from people I have spoken to should be ignored. So why do you think you are an expert?
I have a huge experience with most types of mattresses, including different types of construction, what is actually beneficial rather than being a gimmick. Also what gives the best support, comfort, and temperature for the majority of people......you don't.
You really are very nieve aren't you.........your comments are getting stupid and pathetic, so go away :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Tim,
Thanks for trying to bully me off this site but you should know that I've had to deal with worse in my life so far. As for being an expert you really have no idea who I am or what I have experience with. Let's just say that when it comes to reviewing I do my research and I also get feedback from current owners/users. With over 2 years of reviewing 10-30 products a day I know when I see a something decent or poor pretty quickly.
I am not one to fall for marketing hype/gimmicks but I find out real hard facts and remain completely impartial. I also get feedback from others and take that into account. I also talk to manufacturers directly and have contacts spanning many industries.
You are correct that I do not feel great about having my integrity questioned so easily. I have gained a popular following on the internet to the extent that I can make a living from it and I don't really want to be accused of being a salesman for a rival bed company. In fact Tim, you do that an awful lot - you accuse anyone with opinions/views which do not fit with yours to be a salesman, but you have the nerve to accuse people of being paranoid about your impartiality when it comes to negative advice.
As others have pointed out - independent retailers are not able to stock many brands as the manufacturers would not be keen on their brands and warranties being compromised. It is definitely not all marketing hype!
It's an odd industry because while most people will have a TV and some a PC, pretty much everyone owns a bed to sleep on. It would make sense that many of the new sales would come as word of mouth recommendations from friends & family. Many other sales would come from advertising/sales pitch and some would come from professional advice.
This forum should really be served as a place for people to hear from others who have tried and tested the beds they are thinking of getting rather than the 'optimum density Tim Deagen approved' mattresses with feedback from thousands of unknown people. People here are generally kind enough to allow you the privilege of basically spamming the thread with the same rhetoric over and over again rather than offering real solid advice. You should at least have the integrity to allow others on here to reciprocate their opinions and views of their own experiences. They should certainly not be harassed, should not be bullied, and certainly not told to go away.
You may be posting on this thread several times a day but that does mean that this is your thread to own - that is somewhat against the intention of forums.Kwai Chi

But I've never owned one and dont want to spend £350 on a matress that's no good! Anyone had any experiences with them good or bad??
timberflake,
I own a memory foam mattress also with 9cm of memory foam. I think my mattress is great and if you are worried about getting too hot then simply use a cotton mattress protector to increase the distance from your body to the memory foam. The increased distance will not compromise the moulding of the mattress to your body.
I think TK maxx is a good place to find high quality cotton protectors with brands like Ralph Lauren Home found there at a competitive price compared to a non branded protector at a bed store.Kwai Chi

You'd think reviewing 10 to 30 products a day youd get better at it but you clearly dont!! Dude, stick with your mini mince pie reviews, your making a fool outa yourself here.0 -
Sorry if this is a dumb question but... I mentioned in a previous post that my mum is suffering with a bad back (leading to pain in her left leg) and I am taking her tomorrow to try out matresses at a few local bed shops. In order to find her a good quality mattress that will hopefully give her relief, which matresses/things on the information sheets should I look out for. I am only taking her to try out the 'feel' so that I can order from a decent company online ;-)
vjain,
In countries where mattresses can be prescribed as medical treatment, memory foam mattresses backed with reflex foam like the Tempur mattress are usually prescribed. You should ask the doc whether they can do a similar thing over here.
A chronic back pain sufferer started up this back in action website which offers products for people with really bad backs (and those without). In the following ergoflex blog, they gave away a mattress to a tetraplegic gentleman on Deal or no Deal - I also own one of these and can say it's a great investment for a bad back.Kwai Chi
