Hi
Just saw this thread. I bought a memory foam mattress and bedding off Ebay and had tremendous trouble with it. If I was to do it all again I tell you what I would do. I would buy a mattress from Tim Deegan. He was a tremendous support for me and had no financial gain to make but was there every step of the way helping me with my purchase and the non arrival of goods. Tim is honest, knowledgable and a genuine help to anyone. He will not rip you off and will give you the best deal he can.
Thanks Tim for all the help you gave me and if I ever needed another mattress you would be my man.

This is a touch after the horse as bolted, but tbh I only found this thread after we'd bought a new mattress.
Anyway - we went to JL last week and tried a few beds out - I have to say I can't really get comfortable on a bed when I'm in a shop and people are wondering past, but we both liked the Natural Pocket 3 and so got it - http://www.johnlewis.com/230471532/Product.aspx.
Although it says on the web site these are fine on slates, i've read on the forum this is not the case - can anyone confirm for me as we're putting it on a slatted bed.
Thanks
Many retailers will tell you that their pocket sprung mattresses can be used on slatted bases. However the springs work independently, and therefore will try to push down betweeen the slats. Over time this can cause damage to the mattress.0 -

Hi Taffy.
Do you mean the trouble you had with delivery and the lack of communication from the seller. Or are you having trouble with the mattress?0 -
Hi Tim
I just meant with the delivery and how kind you were to me when I thought I was going to lose all the money for the bedding. Ironically what I really wanted was all the merino wool bedding and the memory foam mattress with merino wool covering that came with it is still all packed up in the original box. We had already bought a mattress some months before I ordered the bedding and mattress and it is fine so I just have not unpacked it. The merino wool bedding is absolutely fantastic tho and does everything it said it would. My hubby has not had hardly any pain or cramps that he used to get because he suffers a lot with Parkinson' disease. I have not unpacked the memory foam mattress with the merino wool padding as I read some of your comments and read how hot you get with the memory foam. My hubby sweats a lot because of all the constant shaking with the parkeys so I decided not to even try it for now. Amazingly the merino wool keeps a constant temperature and he does not sweat so much with it and he sleeps much more because he does not wake up with cold spots and then realises he is in pain or cramps, as you do with normal duvets. Also in the Summer it keeps you cool. Those lovely likkle sheep.
Hope you are well Tim and thanks again.

Thanks for the response - I'm going to pop down to Homebase and get some more slates cut - I plan to leave a minimal gap between them but nothing more than a cm or so.0 -
Another option is pegboard. A sheet of that under the mattress (but over the slats!) will support but still allow air through. Got an 8x4 sheet myself last week, £4 from the local timberyard:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Hi guys, I have recently bought ergoflex mattress and I couldn't be happier!!! I read all posts and wasn't 100% sure if I made the right choice.... The more I read the more confused and lost I was so at the end decided to go for Ergoflex. Why? No idea - I liked their website and also read lots of reviews which were very positive. Some people were saying that Ergoflex is very smelly for around 6 weeks - mine wasn't, neither for me nor my husband. It's is quite firm, warm - this might be a problem for someone who doesn't like warm mattresses, although I am 9 months pregnant at the moment and find it absolutely perfect. I really highly recommend it!0

Please save me from having to traipse round the shops! :T Looking for (cost sensitive!) recommendations please:
Need at least a new mattress for our divan bed (standard double) - looking for a medium firm pocket sprung/memory foam combination as my research says that is the best compromise. Live in Preston
If price differential not too great would like to go for a new king sized bed with a sliding door or drawers at the foot end.
Anybody help? PM's accepted as I do understand the rules around advertising ones own business!
Many thanksWon

Hi there,
Long time lurker on this thread (since it started I think),
Anyway, we are also on the lookout for a good new mattress and have spotted one on clearance in our local bed shop. Its a Relyon Pure Indulgence embrace 2500 and in superking size it is £749. (supposedly £2,000 rrp) Looking around it seems like a good deal to me but is there any better deals and has anyone any experience of this mattress.
We currently have a standard foam mattress with a memory foam topper and it has been great for us for about 3 years. The topper is now starting to bulge in the middle and not bounce back where we sleep. We have liked this option up till now and seem to prefer a pretty firm mattress. Trying out the Relyon though, I think it feels fab - although not as firm as I would have expected to like. The salesman has informed us though that on our solid based beadstead that the mattress would feel much firmer than the sprung edge base it is on in the shop.
Been back out today and tried the above mattress again and think it is a bit soft for us, saleswoman in Bensons was pushing us towards the "Sleep to Live" Range, however was near £1,000 for what in essence I think is just a very firm mattress on my side (which I liked) and a medium firm side for my wife, however we were both on the edge of their scales i.e my wife was at the top of the medium firm range and I was at the bottom of the firm scale. So confusing all this info on mattresses and when spending £1000 on a mattress it really needs to be correct. I believe that the sleep to live range will be single sided aswell which I know you disapprove of Tim, question is have you heard /any experience of this range or indeed any advice / recommendations.
P.m's welcome and any help appreciated - tyIf at first you don't succeed - destroy all evidence that you tried.0 -
Hi Tim,
We are trying to decide between the two following mattresses:
1) visco-pro 1600 supreme pocket spring
http://www.visco-pro.com.my/products_visco_pocketed.htm
2) Respa Visco Pocket 700
http://www.respabeds.ie/html/pocket700.htm
or
http://www.deskelly.ie/pinfo-372-respa-visco-pocket-700-divan-set.php
Leaving price out of the equation, could you please comment on which matress is better. Both myself and my wife suffer from bad backs. In addition, I snore and frequently have to lie on my side all night. My wife is pregnant and she too must lie on her side. In the morning, we are both sore and stiff on our current ordinary mattress!
Any thoughts you may have on these two mattresses would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
