Pocket sprung will provide good support all round the bed and there will ne 'roll-together' in the night! Memory foam can be warm, so if you're a warm person at night i'd steer clear of memory foam. If not, then it adds an element of extra comfort and support. There are beds out there with pocket springs AND memory foam, but make sure you get ones with the top layer of foam at about 2" and no more.

Check your inbox, I have made some suggestions there...

Thanks mate. I think i'll be ordering your suggestion and if i find it any good i'll personally be plugging it! :j

Memory foam only makes you too warm if it is either on top of reflex foam which prevents air circulation under the memory foam to remove the heat. Or if the memory foam layer is too deep. As TiTheRev says it should be 2" to 2.5", although personally I'd recommend 2".
  • Any help would be most appreciated - we have been looking for a new King size divan set with drawers for months now and are just totally confused. I have read all the posts and stickys, which have been helpful, but please, how can I find a retailer or manufacturer that sells sprung divans with a turnable mattress with 2 inches of memory foam on top of the right number of pocket springs?

We are in Essex - have been looking at a retailer called Joy Sleep, and also John Lewis but still can't quite decide. We are both less than 10 stone, like a medium level of softness and quality/value for money is more important than cost although of course we don't want to pay more than necessary and Vi Spring is beyond our reach!!

Pocket Spring Beds (the Maestro 3000) and also a Salus Memory 1500 were both comfortable, but not sure if the latter has pocket springs?

You guys must spend a lot of time helping people out on here, I hope you know how much you are appreciated :-) It is really hard to understand the bed world!

    Many thanks

Hi Downshifted, just a couple of questions before I reply to your post fully.

What (roughly) is your budget and how many drawers do you want/need? There are a few suppliers out there that do the type of bed you require, but not sure if they are specific to the Essex area for you to try 1st.

The Maestro is made by the Pocket Spring Bed Company which is the same company as Silentnight, Rest assured, and Sealy, so I wouldn't bother with that one.

As for the Salus, I can't find it listed anywhere.

I'm afraid I'm not allowed to recommend any in the forums as it could be viewed as advertising.
  • Thanks to you both for your input. Our budget is up to £1500 but we would of course prefer to spend less. But we do want a comfortable good quality bed that will last. We need a couple of drawers at least. I think a sprung base is better? Very happy to receive private message or email response if you have time.

    cheers

To be honest I'm trying to work out the conflicting specifications for this mattress. I've looked at a few sites that sell this mattress, and the information is very misleading. First of all I thought it was one of the cheaper, lower standard encapsulated pocket spring/memory foam mattresses. Then I noticed on more than one site it says 12 gauge springs, which would suggest firm open coil springs.

All the sites I have looked at also fail to mention either the density or the depth of the memory foam. Usually this means that it is very low.

To top it all, it is a non turn mattress. So if it really does contain pocket springs, then this isn't good at all.
