Hi Tim. My mother has severe arthritis in her back and needs a memory foam mattress. She has seen a Kaymed 5000 plus single mattress for £799 and feels this would be the best bet. The pillow is £60. Do you know of anywhere we can get these for a better price?
    TIA

    Hi.

I could never recommend paying nearly £800 for a foam only single mattress.

Do you realise that many quality independednt bed manufacturers in the UK actually use Kaymed's memory foam on their beds, but sell for a fraction of the price.

How warm does your mother like to be in bed?

That's just a sales gimmick. Many manufacturers have various layers with holes going through them, which are supposed to allow air to circulate. The truth is that as soon as you put any weight on the mattress the holes will squash.

Do you have any recommendations for a good quality mattress that would help and keep her cool?

For the best support, but without making her too hot then I'd recommend pocket sprung with 2" of memory foam. If you can get a two sided mattress it would be best as it would prolong the life of it.

  • Hi,

Was wondering if anyone can give their thoughts on the Sealy Buttermere Contract Firm mattress:
    http://www.bestpricebeds.co.uk/product_display.asp?parseid=1147

I slept on it at a hotel recently and found it comfortable.
Is it any good for the price?

    THanks in advance!
