they iphone 4 they reckon will drop in price and also thought i read somewhere that the new ios will be available on older phones think was 3gs and onwards if memory serves so if that is right where people claim how wonderful it is don't see the huge need for new iphone gains seem to be larger screen better processor, ram and battery to run it all. apart from bragging rights i got newest and greatist.
    anyway those are my thoughts
    story

me personally hanging on a bit to decide what i be getting
and between s3, htc one x and iphone but feel the iphone is too locked down for cash extraction.
Also apple shot themselves in the foot by taking samsung to court saying you copied soo much of our phone highlighting the s3 to everyone else wonder how many people will go with an s3 as a direct result of there court action also bearing in mind there apple phone is full of samsung chips what would happen if samsung refused to sell them these anymore if it needed to get to this stage if samsung lose too much just as a thought.

    3) ^Owners who found iOS too restrictive ^

    ;)

Android handset owners who want complete freedom on their handset root their device.

iOS handset owners who want complete freedom on their handset jailbreak their device.;)

We are wondering about the 4S will it come down more in price or has it already come down. Also, is it always best to buy at Apple store, in fact is that only place to buy?

The 4S will definitely come down in price in places like ebay, avforums classifieds etc once the 5 is available for sale. I got my missus the ip4 for only £300 on ebay (brand new, sealed with 1 year apple warranty) a couple of months after the 4S was released last year...so prices will fall. Obviously be careful when buying from places like ebay, make sure the seller has substantial 100% feedback before parting with your cash.

Also people selling their 4/4S by the bucketloads on avforums classifieds:

Why are people getting the new iPhone?

I just cannot see the draw, it is about 6 months behind the curve, but if I am missing something, then please fill me in.

And by behind the curve, I mean the NFC support, which I can see becoming quite popular over the next few months.

Also the limited spectrum support for 4G network, which limits the network you can be on.

A lot is personal choice, people tend to upgrade at contract renewal, and at the moment there really is two choices for the top smart phone, either iphone or samsung galaxy.

That said regardless of phone neither LTE or NFC make much difference to me in the handset.

LTE WILL make a difference but at the moment as it's only EE in selected area's then unless you are in one of those areas it's not really worth it, and no doubt it will be an add on cost to your contract. Once it's every where on all networks it will be different but not at the moment.

NFC is more or less the same, its support patchy and not there yet. My wife got a new bank card a few months ago and it's not pay wave enabled, none of my cards are, unltll everyone's bank card is contactless there will be no driver to have it in a phone, unfortnatly the banks are holding it up at the moment, I think Natwest were saying they don't even have plans to trial it yet.

Don't get me wrong both features will be needed in the future and by the time iPhone 6 arrives it may be better but at the moment regardless of the phone NFC and LTE's a meh feature to me.

Coming back to the question why are people getting them, because people want them, simple as that, and wants generally are not rational thoughts..

I'm considering going from the 4 to the 5. I would just get a cheap 4S as my upgrade, but 8G is nowhere near enough for me; I'm considering forking out to get the 32G version not just 16...
This tickled me, though. Not only have they made it so millions of existing accessories for iPhone, iPad, iPod won't work with the new 5, they don't even include the adapter. They want £25 off you for it, and then its not available until October, despite the phone being released in September.

I'm very glad I hadn't bought the charge stand I was planning for my iPhone & iPad yet. Hopefully an interchangeable one will come out...

But the thing is if you got a phone like a Samsung s3 you can add 32gb memory for under a tenner!

But that idea has one disadvantage, you end up with a Samsung Galaxy S3 and not an iPhone.........

Exactly. You trade a plus (it has expandable memory) with a minus (it's Android and not iOS). iOS is much more important to me than expandable memory, especially as the basic 16GB is more than enough.
  • For me you just cannot get a smarter looking phone with stunning features.

The samsung do not rate high on reliability test.
"Over the past two years, 32.5 percent of Samsung phone owners in survey say that they have encountered a significant problem with their phone."

Over 32% fault rate is too high in compare to others

The phone may have a SD card etc. but for most 16gb is more then enough.
The Samsung even said that iOS is better then Android when Samsung do not even use iOS.
