Serious Thread: iPhone 5
Why are people getting the new iPhone?
I just cannot see the draw, it is about 6 months behind the curve, but if I am missing something, then please fill me in.
And by behind the curve, I mean the NFC support, which I can see becoming quite popular over the next few months.
Also the limited spectrum support for 4G network, which limits the network you can be on.

And a serious reply , what should the would be purchasers get instead?
Perhaps they don't want a bigger screen, LTE is available on other handsets, perhaps they have apps already which they do not wish to repurchase on another platform, perhaps they want more of what they already have?0 -
I am not going to presume to force another handset on to people, although in regards to the apps, you can transfer any previously purchased apps on itunes to Android with a little know how. And given Samsung's Android handsets have been deemed to be so similar they had to pay a fine, I can imagine it being more of what people already have.
But again, I am not pushing any particular handset, I was just wondering what would make someone go from an iPhone4/s to the latest model, given the marginal changes.0 -
So that all the apple fans can say they have the latest product.
Its all about the marketing with apple, the phones are nothing special plenty other brands that do the same things.0 -

Like you mention 'with know how' realise that more ram is 'better' the 5 has 1gb vs 512mb in the 4s, some are swayed by the LTE compatibility, many of the changes are inside which should enhance user experience, I agree there is probably not night and day between them, but with the greater ram availabilty, things like mapping and other uses should be enhanced.0 -
The big draws for me are:
Larger screen without making the device any wider
LTE
iOS
Fabulous build quality and materials
Apple attention to detail, functionality and support. Its all about the marketing with apple, the phones are nothing special plenty other brands that do the same things.
There are no other brands that have iOS; that's an Apple exclusive.0 -
