In post #20 you quite rightly included " But like I said, that's precisely why I buy the iPhone and not something else."
So I'm not sure why you are then trying to justify how and where you should spend money that you earned, or even for others to have view on how and where you should spend your money.
It's obvious there cannot be another product with the same OS.

Well seemingly the entire point of the topic was for the OP to find out why people are buying the iPhone 5. I simply listed the reasons for doing so.

Short of that, you're right, I don't have to justify to anyone how I spend my money. I answered why I'm buying the iPhone 5 and that's the end of that.

I wasn't telling you off, and my replies today I feel have been defending the wanna be purchasers, there seems to be two schools of owners 1)those like you that truly like the OS and devices and all that goes with it 2) those that want it but unwilling to pay anything at all for it.

    Two types of people
People who want a product they can use-apple

People who want a product they think they can make better-android

sorry tried android wasnt for me, too much messing faffing and research.

Iphone is simple, see something you like, download it, it works, end of.

thats all I want from a phone. functionality.

What were people expecting from iphone 5... it does everything almost everyone one, needs, knows about. IOS is what makes the iphone an iphone, not the processor, memory, or colour. android is what makes the S3 seem great. each to their own, but i think both sets of users understand.

Android, backing up... scary, do you use google, orange... or...(then it backs up you facebook contacts, then it duplicates them ... then, its just a mess, seen it, been there, done that. sorry. horror stories galore.

IPHONE... Itunes... easy, Icloud... Easy, it all just makes sense.
My friend had his personal iphone wiped at work as they removed his email on the last day, factory reset they did. he was not worried (!!!!ed off thou), and it restored everything from iCloud(after 6 hours) on wifi...(lo0ads of stuff)... = one happy man. Just never ever think android could achieve that. Everything down to the last message he received.

Gotta praise apple for that... thats the kind of stuff that gives you value for money... the apple shop too... the quality of the stuff... the feel of the phone... the retina screen...it just goes on!... MINT... lol

What makes your reply very poor quality compared to mrochester is that you have lowered the thread into compariosn of the two OS (or your perception of it) there are plenty of those threads around with the usual suspects throwing their teddies out of the pram.
Stop worrying about android or indeed what others are using, sometimes it is better to be selfish, and now is that time, you earned the money, you get what you want, don't try and convince others on what they should get, but in response to some of the issues you raise , I just did not find that to be the case.

I compared to my experiences, i also got disturbed halfway through, but never mind... yes i could have a windows phone for OS with a nokia, or Dell, or an LG or a Samsung... or whatever, but cant comment to be honest. i have never used them or have an interest in them.

Not having an interest in them is fair enough, irrespective of what people have or may get, I suppose the announcemnt of the new model raised interest with everybody, whether they intend to purchase or not.

On a side note I have a colleague who is forever harbouring on about iphones (he has a galaxy ace) I always suggest to him to just buy the device as (a) it will meet all the 'hype' and he will be glad of the purchase (b) he will find it was not worth the purchase cost whether outright or contract, however he would squash the curiosity once and for all for him, it's not as if he can't afford it. :o
  • my husband has a iphone 4 that my son passed on to him when he got the 4S
the battery life of my husbands phone now so poor that he would like to get a new iphone (screen also cracked on existing one). We are wondering about the 4S will it come down more in price or has it already come down. Also, is it always best to buy at Apple store, in fact is that only place to buy? I notice they dont sell the phones at our old friend John Lewis.
    Many thanks
