Crikey. On the plus side, Durham's lovely to visit.....

Yes. I've been before. Very nice. I'm in a hotel outside York tonight. Going to do a bit of touristing there tomorrow before driving home.

York's beuatiful. At least you'll get to see a bit of the country on your visits. Salford's not really up there on my "must visit" list :D

  • well Junior came home this weekend (well if I'm honest he was here for less than 24 hrs due to one thing and another) and I think I'm worse than I was when he went off originally ......not helped by the fact that OH will be out most of the evenings this week so will be all on my own (apart from the mutt)

it will also be his birthday soon and it will be the first where he's not here - now that will be odd.

Just wondered what the average contact is - had to send a text to Junior asking if he was ok as I hadn't heard anything

  • DS and I have spoken at least once a day, but he's always been like that. He's always rung me when he's out and about, just for a chat, and he seems still to be doing that. He's managinf (eventually) to respond to my "Morning!" texts too. I'm sure it will wear off :-)

I'Vve had a text every couple of days and a once a week phonecall. The last one lasted a good while though as she's feeling a bit down. Think the excitement of freshers has worn off and she's not particularly enjoying her hall. Sure she'll feel better in a week or two.

My lass texts almost every day but the number has decreased and I am pleased as it means she is settling in.

Seeing as Student Finance haven't sorted her grant out yet we have had a to sort out money to pay her rent due tomorrow, but generally she seems to be getting on ok. Her boyfriend has been visiting her this weekend, and they have been off to the Fresher's ball so haven't heard from her this weekend though!

  • So its only me then .......

half of me is glad - I know that no contact means he's settling in ok (I'm aware that he's still breathing as I see his posts on facebook) but the other half feels redundant - he even managed to do a wash at uni this week rather than bring it home.

My son is climbing the walls in frustration as he still hasn't gone (he's off on Sunday) all his mates went off in the last few weeks, York Uni must be the very last one to start!

It's a 600 mile round trip so we definitely won't be seeing him until Christmas!

I'm trying not to show it as he's so excited about it but I'm dreading him going!

We are now 3 weeks in since eldest DD went to Canterbury, I have discovered skype and we have a chat about twice a week. When she can fit me in that is. She likes her halls, her flat mates and seems to have joined plenty of societies to keep her busy for a while. She rang to ask if she could come home beginning of November to see a friends new baby so really looking forward to that.

Yes York does start really late. My daughter had a place at York last year (narrowly missed out on getting the grades she needed, her offer was ABB and she got AAC :( ) and her start date wasn't until the 8th October!

She was back home for an hour yesterday, her student bank account card came so she got her boyfriend to give her a lift home to pick it up. I'm now feeling a bit daft for getting so upset about her leaving :o
