Glad everyones kids are settling in. :D Its not easy for parents when you see off your kids for the first time, i know my mum was worried about me when i first went. But on the plus side she knew what to expect when my sister went and i think it gets easier over time. Though i have to admit to being crap at staying in contact, i can go weeks without talking to my mum :o However it does mean that when we do talk there's lots to talk about!

    Hellooo

Hows everyone getting on, have we had many homecomers yet?

My dd worked out that for the price of the bus fare she can come get her washing washed and dried and be fed for the weekend so she's back on Friday night lol She says it works out cheaper than using the uni laundrette and buying food for a couple of days.

Remind me again of why I was so upset at her going :o

We had some fantastic news today too, she's been awarded a scholarship, £2000 towards her tuition fees and £1000 bursary (given in 3 parts) :j She's over the moon :)

dragging an old thread up but my daughter has just gone back to uni after the Christmas break and I'm feeling a bit crappy.

Just re reading this thread has helped me loads :D

Hope everyone else had a lovely christmas and new year with their "fledglings" it really doesn't matter how old they are or how well they are doing it's always nice to have them home isn't it :o
  • W.ell I started the thread, and wish it had all gone well but DD came home at the end of October. She hated it, very unsociable halls and only 6 people on her course. So I've had her home since then, and it has not been easy at all! She has reapplied for next year, different course, different unis, a lot of them in her home town. I so wanted her to have a good experience, and it has been an upsetting time but hopefully next year will be better

oh thats such a shame :( I hope she gets on a better course with better flatmates this time round.

My daughter has had a few problems with her flat mates, a couple of them are only doing their degrees because they didn't know what else to do and you can tell. They are out partying almost every night, then come in at sill o'clock and wake everyone else up.

DD has exams next week and she fully intends to call campus security if they start with their silly games again.
