  • Going with my sis next Saturday to take my niece to Brighton (we live in Hampshire). Big sis spent a fortune too.

The whole family are very proud - off to study Primary Education.

We are off for a 'goodbye' meal this Sunday - won't be saving much money doing that, but she's worth it!!

I so hope she has a good time - has made 'friends' on FB already, so sure she will be fine.

Taking dd to Liverpool tomorrow. She is doing ancient history and looking forward to it.

Hoping she will come home for the odd weekend but don't want to pressure her. Might do what I did when her older sisters were in Newcastle and pop down for nice lunch and short shopping spree travelling by train.

She is the youngest and we will all really miss her.

My son is going back for his third year on Tuesday next week. Peace will reign once more.

My eldest is off to Portsmouth (we're in Medway) to study media. In fact it's being done in two parts as it is my brother's wedding tomorrow, so hubby took her and her gear down today to collect keys and the such and brought her back. Then on Monday we take her down to stay.

I have given her lots of tips about shopping and pointed her in the direction of this forum. We also have been fortunate in that she has been given alot of household things (plates and the like) from my sister. Very poignant as my sister died 3 years ago and she and my daughter were very close. She would have been so proud to see her niece off to Uni!

Scary times for me but she assures me she will be fine hehe.

  • I am taking DS1 back to Loughborough tomorrow - not looking forward to the drive there and back as I have not feeling to well lately and still waiting for consultant to write to GP for my meds.

This is his second year of a four year course (masters in mathematical sciences) I will really miss him as we are really close. Although I know he will facetime me regularly - I am worried about money though as student finance have messed it up completely and it will be at least 10/12 weeks before they give him any money despite him doing all paperwork etc back in January - virtually accused him of trying to commmit fraud as they had him down as being on two different courses in two different years at the same time, although he has only ever started this one course last September, got his money alright then!

Aren't there two universities in Manchester?:)

But if you mean the place itself then, yes, Manchester is a brilliant place. I really enjoyed living and working there.

We took our son to Manchester yesterday, he will be studying chemical engineering. I'm so proud of him but I am really going to miss him (I'm not going to miss his constant requests for refreshments though :rotfl:) he says he has already met loads of people so sounds like he is going to have a great time.

Glad to hear it mustbe. Which halls is he in? DD is in Ashburne, which wasn't her first choice, but she seems quite happy with it now. She's doing theology, philosopy and ethics.

A lot of DD's friends are staying in Liverpool to go to Uni. It's a great place to be a student. I think she will be home every couple of weeks as her boyfriend is still here, but I'm hoping to go and have lunch with her, and do a bit of shopping once a term...

Oh they're absolutely bloody useless, everybody you speak to tells you something different. When finance for DS's second year came through it was minus his maintenance loan and fees loan - despite him having this in the first year, they said he hadn't ticked the box for that, I had a photocopy of the completed form in front of me with the box saying 'yes please' clearly ticked!! Hope you get it sorted out sooner than they've quoted, keep on to them!

Yes there is manc met and manc. Manc is the higher performing than the net, but both have good results.

Manchester is a fab place, I hope all going to Uni have a ball!
