I've been playing around with some sims today, and the thinning process isn't really s problem, I decided to go the mad way with an electric sander, I thinned a sim card right down to 0.55mm (a large part of the die covering was worn away on the back side) and the sim still works. Sanding the 1/10 of a mm (sim card thickness of 0.67mm) off should be easy for anyone.
All it will take is a piece of sandpaper and a little bit of blutack to use to hold the sim while rubbing it.====0 -

But she was very clear and specific that any nano sims would only be given to customers signing up for subsidized phone plans, not sim only plans. And that the latest information she had was that sims for sim only plans would not arrive before October.0

Orange make life difficult for themselves by issuing each size of SIM card separately. Many other networks around the world (including O2 UK) issue full size 1FF (credit-card sized SIMs) with multiple break-out points, where the customer simply breaks out the size of SIM that they need, e.g. 2FF (mini-SIM), 3FF (micro-SIM) and now 4FF (nano-SIM). Orange has failed to catch on to this much simpler system.0

She was correct that they won't give out SIM cards to sign up to SIM-only tariffs. However, they will do SIM swaps. I think you have confused her by mentioning the type of tariff you're on; this is irrelevant when doing a simple SIM swap.
I might be mistaken, but my understanding is that they are saving all of their nano sims for new signups only. No swaps, sim only, or other.
Guess we'll have to wait til tomorrow to find out for sure. I think I might just cancel my order, go buy one in the states, and hopefully by then EE will have disclosed what the situation is.
The carriers are completely ridiculous about this, and as if customers didn't hate them enough, only going to worsen their reputations. I fault Apple in not thinking about the potential for carrier abuse (they would rob from their own baby if they could) and not stocking up on carrier specific sims in advance. Even if it go out prelaunch that Apple was switching to a nano sim, it's not like it would have jeopardized the secrecy of the rest of the phone.
This is just an instance where Apple's secrecy is going to screw up launch.0 -
To me, apple shop is effectively in competition with the orange shop, why should orange sacrifice their sales with limited numbers of sims, to help a competitor.
If you dont buy from orange which offer reasonably good deals and effective insurance, then stop complaining if it comes with a compromise. there is no contract, so tough.
It would be the same as going to car phone warehouse, and demanding sims from orange... no, they should provide you with the sim in the first place.Plan
