Apple's sim card standard is the one that's been adopted.
All owned & licenced and by Apple, and only adopted by Apple so far
So how come networks and resellers alike are short of nano for i5 launch ? Apple owns the only consumer available product that takes its OWN sim.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... Because they're poorly organised? It seems that Three are the only network so far who've managed to get their act together.0 -
It is not Apple's own SIM, but the fourth evolution in SIM card sizes, ratified by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute. The fact that Apple proposed the standard and is first to market with a device that uses it is immaterial to the networks' failure to supply SIM cards in a timely fashion.
No nano standard is approved, Apple rushed out their version for their i5 and its not even organised its OWN sim that is ONLY approved on the only consumer available product, its OWN i5 !
Apple want cash from licencing its nano sim so it holds the GSM sim market standard, simple. Apple version will not be approved given how it has tried to manipulate the market for its own financial gain.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... Apple don't charge a license fee for the nano-sim standard.0 -

The point is that the services they offer on that web page necessitate the Apple store to provide a SIM card.
When it does a SIM swap, the Apple store is agnostic to the type of plan you're currently on (e.g. SIM-only or otherwise), because they are only swapping the SIM, not changing the contract. I explained the scenario in full and was told that the process is regularly carried out by the Apple store and is called a SIM swap.
I spoke with someone from the Regents Street Apple Store, all I can go on is what she said.
But she was very clear and specific that any nano sims would only be given to customers signing up for subsidized phone plans, not sim only plans. And that the latest information she had was that sims for sim only plans would not arrive before October.
She seemed reasonably knowledgeable about the subject, and I tried to ask multiple different ways, but she was very specific. The only thing that she said that gave me hope was that an update would be made on Monday.
Not disputing what you were told, but it seems to conflict with what I was told, so it sounds like even Apple store employees remain very unclear about what will happen.0
