Well my jobs like "asystole" an undulating line. up and down up and down..

Have serious (MAJOR) staffing crisis but feeling positive .. sort of (insane me thinks as I knew this was coming when agreed to stay and was main reason stayed). Other area not opening so keep the 2 staff of mine that were going plus 3 extra unqualified. Its the end of the student intake and so fingers crossed on a little batch of newbies, have at least 2 which have requested to work for us which I have got my name scribbled all over there request- literally. Plus interviewing 3 good candidates on Tuesday. One of which recruited from my zumba class... I know shouldnt put eggs in basket but that would make a good dint in my vacancy hole.

Have a few nasty nasty nasties coming up, which cant share but are pretty grim but any stretch of the imagination and would score as seriously bad on any manager in my arenas calendar, feel as though hat tricked but not in a good way.. In fact in all 3 circumstances would rank as OMG and personally have never had to go through in the 9 years I have been a Manager individually never mind as altogether, but hey ho. Sure will have a dodgy tummy for each for days.. but have come to conclusion, I have done the best I can, i am confident of this, if thats not enough, I am genuinely sorry..


My own skills need updating as my "new" job is not in my own specialist area (mmm, not like coronation street when Martin Platt knows everything about everything.. so added challenge) so have put self down to take quite difficult extended role within area and study day booked for end of month, already feeling inadequate but as finished my long period of studying it feels ok too as I have time to read up.

Atmosphere at wrk seems very buoyant, although I dropped the christmas rota out today and ran... I feel as though getting to know each member of the team.

Had lots of positive personal feedback last few days, from old staff on old ward, seem to be genuinely missed which is great as everyone hates their boss (or thats how it feels although I like mine), even an offer of coming over when that persons vacancy type comes available.. also from current staff about how we are moving forward and how they feel in terms of support.

So to summarise work is as good as it could be.. which is slightly above carp, but feel ok with that and sleeping so much better now have 5 extra staff. a week on monday have major (READ MAJJOR) external visit which we have been preparing for since God was a lad, so praying choose another area, however feel that I have worked damn hard and if its not good enough, then so be it.

Bought DD2 iphone 4 second hand to do as PAYG, seems the best compromise and DD2 happy with this.

Christmas list slowly improving but cleared out AGC currently.. Several HB visits, still not managed to find a saxophone.

Feel "broke" however cant help thinking I could stay "broke" for 3 years if meant mf then.. Have now the added luxury of knowing full time permanent and as on top increment, i am not at risk if they decide to freeze.. which seems more and more likely.

Work life balance has swung more life now working 4 longer days and 3 off - (still full time) catching up with jobs and bezzy mate every week,

Overall its good and gosh what a long post

Jobs done and weekend over. Have fri and sat off next week and Saturday the kids are in a music festival so will be there most of the day. Sunday is just a shorty so not too bad, an 8 / 4 so a wee lie in too, however a 5 dayer next week, not sure how that happened, fortunately no long ones.

Won my saxophone on ebay, just need to arrange collection now, have paid and emailed. So thats dd1 sorted. Hope its okay...

Ordered a nerf rebelle bow (yes thats what i thought) for dd3 off amazon, using my newly inserted but now spent £10 plus some "real" money. (boooo)

Iphone4 is part birthday part christmas for dd2 so just bits left to buy her. DH asked if £50 rule still stands (were we agree to spend no more than £50 on each other) which makes sense and means I only have less than a tenner to spend on him left.

Just my dad left and some little extra bits for friends kids and my mum then hopefully sorted. Have wrapped 90% of what Ive bought and is on top of wardrobe.

DS is all done apart from one xbox game to buy....I save for vouchers with p*rk every year and it is the best thing I ever did....xmas is always paid for and I don't have to worry!

Keep plodding on....I hope you're not rostered for too many shifts over xmas....I am lates on Xmas Eve but off Xmas Day which is heaven sent!!!:D

Up and down recruitment, although still hopeful. Think its shocking that as a country its easier to recruit from overseas than train our own but hey that's a huge debate (but WHY!!!!!) but don't worry, the PM is employing *** more even though we can't actually fill our vacancies. So excellent... even more vacancies and therefore care will improve.... Does anyone actually understand what the issues actually are?




My boss has a new job (bless her) so in 2 weeks she will be gone off to corporate land. Have been asked by everyone and their dog if Im applying for her job but keep pointing out that current post / area needs sorting and feel (hence Mahoosive decision to split with JS) that this is my project until sorted... Only fear is that there are very few people who would be eligible that would be "senior" to me, which sort of says that I should apply but really keen to "mend" current area... Thinking no want to sort area and I can manage any new manager but still.....


Gosh why is life so confusing, I know I can do the job, have the exact right experience, qualifications and then some, hate the thought of "being managed" by someone "less" than me but so desperately want to make something of current area, enjoy the role despite its clearly difficulties whilst maintaining that magical work life balance.. groan..


The major visit is now days away, I have been summoned to court in January (professionally not as a naughty individual but as a manager- as I thought I would but have never been before) and have a little row of nasties in my calendar but still buoyant...

DAy off today (in on Sunday) but was very fortunate as dd2 woke up poorly and so has had day off school. Nipped and fetched my saxophone (from ebay) and a little aldi shop. I'm massively overspent but have made a man size dint in Christmas shopping.

Got an email from Asda re Christmas delivery slots so I have whizzed on and done an order (can adjust nearer to date) for 23rd December.


Im 100 points off u gov payout...

Pay day next week , thank goodness. Be one big wage slip rather than 3 smaller ones. Did quite a bit extra so should be a nice one.
Looking forward to money shuffle as represents going past half way point.

Oh Cal, what a really lovely thing to say.

Girls at music festival tomoz which equates to no music school (a 7.30 get up) and therefore don't need to get up till at the earliest 9 which is a lovely lie in. So tomorrow will be wide awake at 5 but like a dead thing on Sunday. Toying with going in an hour early on Sunday to work with a new starter... my body is saying Noooooo.

Ex JS came round for a brew today, very keen to keep up close friendship and conscious both working full time makes that even more difficult. BF at work so just catch up texting this week. DD2 commented "is this what you do on a day off?" I had nipped and done the ebay collection and shop whilst she was sleeping but I did fit in a HUTH (obviously, as its the law) and then just general chores but yes on the whole a lazy day.

SB seems very bizarre tonight, keep watching 1 or 2 SB vids all night on main page and already up to 258SB. Aiming £5 a week but Wow.

Still have no mental energy for DY or CIAO. No idea why brain is so dead but do feel mentally tired.

Had a lovely little fashion ring arrive from Amazon which I ordered after venturing onto grabbit while you can forum for about a £1, nice little stocking filler.

Also had ginormous amazon box with quite significantly smaller "nerf rebelle" (major wish list for dd3) but have wrapped in big box as does add excitement to proceedings.
