    Not thinking about work...

Been to HB and FF, now amongst other stuff we have toothpaste and sausage. Was clearly missing in my life and so now restored.

Lovely lady who bought our old house gave me lots of green sample pots today (too tight to buy self) slapped on wall, picked crushed aloe - dulux but discontinued in b and q, found online in focus so spent nectar points and now ready to go on walls. also bought outside light which has been needed for 2 years (cable curled up and ready since extension but cash shortage and "non urgent", DH hopefully will fit tomoz).

Wasn't home till after 4 but now ceiling emulsion'd and bought picture rail which have stained ready so hopefully big diy day tomoz, have also spent 2 hours ironing and sewing school blazers and jumpers, so should be able to crack on tmoz

Have looked at lots of carpets today and decided want one like our old house lounge. Quote £600+ and was thinking of a much smaller spend (was MF when bought last time) so internal debate raging..

After that its curtains and cushion covers.. What colours go with a sage like green.......??? Have brown settee and currently lime cushions but think these will look horrid... (please help, I don't do colours..)

Depends. You may be able to get away with it if they are not too similar shades of brown and the walls/accessories are different enough.

Where's MWC when you need her? :rotfl:

Maybe have brown and cream? Or have brown with the same green as your paint?
I had a nightmare matching mine last year but in the end found the perfect ones on a certain well know auction site ;) believe it or not
I did get a load of free samples from online though which gave me some ideas too
  • I am so bad with colours.. Wondering if worth giving curtains amiss or a see through curtain thingy??

  • Would not recommend brown carpet if you have light coloured pets (cats/dogs) etc. Shows up every bit of lint!

    Colours that go:

I have a mocha carpet and chocolate brown sofa Helen, last carpet was very light and I am very clumsy:o there are colour wheels online you can look at which colours to use to contrast or tone with shades you are using.

I wouldn't go for brown curtains, I'd go for something bright and pick up the colours of the cushions.

I think it needs some brightness injected. How about lemon or even bright pink? Or cream patterned with say purple and red flowers, with green leaves and have some self coloured purple & red cushions as well?

But basically do nothing at first in case the lime ones go :)

  • I wouldn't go for brown curtains either HDK...think it would be like walking into a gravy bowl :) . Sage green works well with a hint of an orangey rusty colour if that makes sense. What about a nice pin striped type curtain with some lovely striped cushions. I personally like a random mix of cushions a few striped, some flowery and a few plain. Also a nice rug could really lift the room too.
