yes, i did see the assitant count out £250, but i assumed she had misheard me and taken £250 out of the book. i have emailed them anyway, i expect a goodwill gesture soon enough. how is it theft? the lady counted the money out and knew exactly the amount she was giving me! she was the theif, she was stealing from her employers!

She isn't a thief, she just made a mistake as you did by not pointing it out. If I asked at a bank for £150 from my account & they gave me £250 I would have certainly queried it at the time. If she had given you £50 would you have just accepted it & walked away without checking your book first?

Presumably you watched her as she counted out the money? Surely you would have noticed the discrepancy then?

Do you always sign things without reading what you're signing for?
Also, knowing that she had counted out £250, why didn't you check your book while you were at the counter and rectify the mistake there and then. I can't see how you can blame the bank assistant knowing that she had given you the wrong amount in the first place. What happened to honesty??

I think you should apologise to them for trying to get away with it, not asking for some kind of reward as if you were the innocent party in all of this. Far from it....

it is clearly the bank assistants fault becuase i aksed for £150, signed a sheet fr £150 and she counted it out correctly. i didnt pull a fast one, if someone came upto you and said ''this cash machine is giving out twice the money it should do'' wouldnt you go for some money? i dont think you are all suggesting you would be as honest as you say

How did you end up with £100 too much then?

Sorry you're not helping your case by questioning other peoples honesty!

You said that she counted out £250 in front of you - I think you should give up trying to get out of this one.

Quote: "the assistant then counted out £250 and handed it over to me"

I'm sure everyone who is writing in this thread would agree that if they asked for £150 and then watched the assistant count out £250 they would be decent and honest enough to check the error and rectify it there and then.

I think you should now stop digging...seems you are only upset at the bank realising the mistake & tracing it to you.
