yesterday was ok if a bit chaotic - I collapsed into bed totally wiped out which is good cos it didn't give me a chance to dwell on things. Up at stupid o'clock this morning cos I've got stuff swirling round my head - I had a call yesterday from DS1 who is really happy (which I'm glad about) but it just made me miss him even more again.

ex has bought me down again - he's still got the knack, company owes money to get accounts filed for last year and I need to contribute apparently, even though I'm no longer anything to do with the company. cant be bothered to argue I've got no fight left so just pay it and then stop doing the accounts and the bits of admin he's been paying me to do - problem solved.

the other mystery to keep me occupied is almost 800 has arrived into my bank account overnight and I've no idea what its for or where its from. I'm due to get paid from the new job tomorrow but its not that much (or perhaps my maths is really that rubbish...) I'm waiting till the reports update at 9am so I can see what is going on.

    Seventh Anniversary Debt-free and Proud!
Youve been thru such a lot this past 6 months or more!
Tell your ex to get lost ! Time he started sorting out his own problems instead of treating you like his mother and expecting you to bail him out !
Always a wee bitty sad when the kidlings grow up and fly the nest, but rest assured they will always come home, usually bearing dirty washing, and always pleased to see mum and be pampered again for a few days.
The mystery £800 ? Who cares where its come from ...probably a tax rebate or something on top of the wage ... Take it and blow it on frivolity to cheer yourself up. you know you deserve it :)
Its just a bad day, Not a bad life ..

Does the cash machine charge a commission (the one in our morrisoms gives you 92p for every quid ?). I just go to the self service in my morrisons and lob the money in the hopper - free !

Have you found out if you can spend the £800 ? Xx

the 800 is a tax refund apparently - they reviewed my figures again and I came out on top (makes a change uh). Anyway not going to do anything exciting with it - some into an emergency pot and a whack taken off Aqua credit card (my nemesis).

apart from that its payday from new company and all went thru fine and more than I was expecting  which is also a bonus. may again pay off the extra unexpected chunk off aqua - got to get it paid off. also been going thru my spread sheet to see where all the leaks are this month and I've done really well at cutting down the incidental spend - down to just £62 this month which shaves a whole £100 off last month. Spends on shopping is also down and I haven't even got round to raiding the penny jar yet!

and a change of plan - the 800 is going to be used for emergency fund and getting a banger on the road so im mobile again. I'm buying one off a neighbour who is also a mobile mechanic so little run around for 600 with full mot and tax on it, got to do insurance but ive got some freedom back again!

plan of attack for aqua card is as follows:-

my allotted spend for groceries/ housekeeping on my DMP is 580 I'm managing to feed us all very well and healthily on less than 300 freeing up almost 300quid pm.

75 extra in cheques I wasn't expecting to be thrown at it this month..

normal payment is 5.90 and they are adding about 90£ on each month in interest (3.4% pm).

Ive got a ppi claim in with them and should hear from them up until first week of August from them regarding any offer - I'm not banking on this as so far they have been total pants so I don't expect them to play fair with this either..

so if I give myself an aim of end of sept to clear it by including every spare penny I have thrown at it.

(time to go away and burn the calculator up...)

    ....................................................................................................

100 days to clear this means I need to make an extra 16.80 or save the same amount each day to get it clear anything I get from ppi will be a miracle so not counted and will still be slightly out due to interest but its most of the way there.

ok the answer is I need to find 1200 to clear it by sept that's with them adding interest and me making the extra payments I can definitely afford plus not accounting anything for PPI as well - doable? well its certainly going to be a challenge....

ok ive cut it down into 100 days and it works out as an extra 16.80 saved or earnt each day to biggest part clear it which makes it sound a bit more manageable. got no idea how im going to do it but ive got to start somewhere.
  • Hi Catandy,

This is just for information because knowledge is power :D although you are probably too reasonable to ever do it :A

When you resigned as director and left ex with the business, your director's loan account became a debt repayable on demand. The accountant will tell him this and it may be worth you letting him know that you know too. He should be negotiating a steady repayment plan with you or at the very least falling over himself to keep you sweet. :rotfl:

At any time you really need that money, or if he p***es you off, you can issue a statutory demand for full reimbursement.

    Onwards and upwards :)

thank you for that and no I didn't know it so that's stored away for if I ever need to use it...

got £75 extra to pay off Aqua card this month as cheques have cleared thru account also I've counted up all the coins in the penny jar and am going into town next Saturday to pay it into the main branch for my account - they have one of those machines that count it up for you and credit it to your account - another £100 and a few pence will be credited then and in due course will be paid off the dreaded aqua bill. so I've found 10 days worth of money already to pay off it... only another 90 to go:)

menu planning for next week done - my dmp figures have given me 145 PW to play with for groceries and housekeeping and I'm always coming in under this. from this week I plan to 'sweep' the money not used each week into a savings pot then again that will go off the nasty card. should be able to do perhaps anywhere between 45 and 70 each week which should make a dent in the total owing. aim by the end of july is going to be pay of 460....

the other thing I'm thinking of doing is buying my way out of a mobile contract - its for ex's mobile which has just got 6 months left to run on it, he uses the sim and minutes on the contract but got another phone/ sim/ contract in his own name when he smashed the fone up about a month before he moved out. by getting rid of it yes it means ive got 180 expense up front but it also cuts another tie and lowers my monthly outgoings ongoing by 25pm ... not sure what to do about this yet ie do it july/ august or even do it at all. will mull it over for now.

i would hand the dd over to him ,i know you risk him over using it and its still less to pay think u can transfer it to him through phone company ,also sell it to him that the company will give him a new phone which they probably will if you are 18 mths in . you sound very focused still good news about the car ,things are looking up
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x

cant really pass the bill over to him cos then it wont get paid and its on my contract so im not willing to mess up my credit history still further by him not paying so I will work on the pay it back/ let it run its course conundrum.

and yes I do feel positive and organised - don't know why cos nothing has really changed in my life. DS1 has foned twice and sounds happy as Larry so that's been a boost, I'm also finding I've got some freedom and its a liberating experience... ok my idea of freedom maybe having a lie in if I want one or playing music really loud or going out for a walk when I want without having to explain where I was going/ how long I am going to be. doesn't sound much does it but to me its priceless cos its such a big step on from where I was at even 3 months ago.

I can actually say now that I'm happy in myself and that's absolutely a fandabydosy feeling and I wouldn't swap it for anything!:T
