Putting My Life Into Order

42£ in unauthorised od fees for the mess up last week - grrr
good news is I've got payday for both employed job and the training work I took on this week so bank balance should take a mighty leap upwards. its probably all going to be spent again or swallowed up on living but hey ho at least I can look at the figures for a bit and dream of the days when it will be mine and im not paying back money all the time
just made another £82 off fleabay sales and I'm really reaching the dregs of what I can sell now - got another couple of sacks of clothing to take into one of those shops that pay for clothes by the kg so should be 20£ or so there... menu planning done for the week and need to spend about £30 top so all good there. all in all ticking along nicely and some big drops in the amounts owing on cards about to happen - come on!!:T0 -
5 more weeks of the employed job to go cos I've decided I don't want to be working at this rate for any length of time - I will have replaced everything I needed to in the flat by then plus have broken the back of the Aqua balance and hopefully the FOS complaint will kick them into freezing interest on the rest of it. if they don't suspend interest I can pay the rest off with just the self employed job cos there's hours going aplenty at the moment.
so with that and the other card gone I will be down to just 6 creditors and have an extra 10 to spread between them all. next on the hit list is going to be the other cap 1 card so that's all the lower balances cleared - want to do that all by end of the year latest. and others will be dropping slowly with my normal payments.
that's the plan for the next 6 months - definately doable!0 -
decision time again and im totally torn between what to do...
had an company head hunt me and offer me work for them on contract at £200 per day which is the sort of stuff I used to do before the economy started slowing down. It would mean more £ in my account every month for less hours working - a difference of £1300 on a basic month with the chance to earn commission on top of it for sales. what it would also do is take away the safety net I'm working with by 'piggy backing' off contract work that I pick up from various sources. Basically I would be putting all my eggs into the one basket, not able to double up on 2 or 3 jobs at once (and wouldn't need to cos I would be earning the extra money). Don't know why I'm even having second thoughts about it cos I used to do it without thinking twice - I think maybe I'm scared about it going wrong again and contract closing down on me like happened last time round with the company I was with then. mind you even if it did go wrong I could go back to what I'm doing now quite easily... cant believe I'm so change adverse these days. mind you I think some of it is because im so tired of things being so up and down all the time...
going to take some time out and decide what is best to do0 -
did a list of for and against last night and new contracted position has won by about half the page
- I've arranged to speak with the admin of them on Monday and arrange to go over there to sign contracts and get my training pack. I've got some homework to be done before I start on it and a couple of meetings with them to get things ironed out so start date should be mid August onwards... suits me fine I just handed notice in on the employed job I've been doing (made sure I had been paid first) and I've got self employed contract work to tide me over the first part of next month. In fact I'm not telling the company I freelance for that I'm not taking work from them, Im just saying I'm not available for a couple of weeks as going on holiday then I will extend it again for something else, gives me something to fall back on if it does go wrong and keeps my options open.
things are starting to pick up - should be able to start some serious balance busting by Septembers pay packet! yess!!0 -
good months work in this month so extra good payday next month which is great. also just got another littlish sale on fleabay - £35 - which is just about everything that I had left to sell all gone now. going to sell some clothes by Kg later this week plus couple of bags of stuff going to charity shop and yet more stuff dumped at the tip - my flat is starting to echo with all the stuff ive thrown out
im also planning a trip into the bank branch in the city centre which has one of those machines that counts up all your coppers automatically and credits it to your account - I did a count up of the penny jar yesterday and it comes to the grand total of £173.12, that includes all the loose change from on shelves and in the bottom recesses of my purse and will do a lot more good as real money in my account than just lying around. cant believe how quickly it builds up actually!0 -
Wow sounds fantastic - good to keep for options open :-)Sealed pot challenge 822
Jan - £176.66 :j0 -
still chugging along - all the bills paid for the month in full and on time, food enough to put food in the cupboards/ freezer and a positive balance in my bank account plus a small savings pot starting to grow... all good
plan for august is work, celebrate DS1 birthday, see the aqua balance drop when they take off the money for my PPI claim and throw everything ive got at it to break the back of it. that should be gone completely by Septembers pay packet latest - that gives me the rest of the year for second capital one card plus putting some £ aside for xmas as its all going to be cash this year - everything is now and I don't miss having to carry around so much plastic at all.
should be able to fit in a visit to see my mum every couple of weeks now as ive budgeted that in, don't want to leave it too long between visits cos she has such problems remembering who I am.. and I'm even going to treat myself to a haircut at the salon this coming month, something that I haven't been able to justify spending money on for almost 2 years so I've been hacking at it myself instead:o
life is already infinitely better than it was and I'm grateful for that - I'm also 100% adamant that my kids are never going to get in the financial position I got into. its something we are discussing in passing and I think its working - DS2 has a savings pot for his Ipad that he wants... DS1 has been offered credit cards and tore up the letters and binned them. Well at least something positive came out of this sorry situation!0 -
ok plans for the week ahead ( cos im a list type of person and it works for me)..
- pay cheque into bank account - this came thru yesterday morning and is an extra payment from one of the ppi claims for not investigating fully and to recompense me - £300 thank you very much
- get invoices out for work done last month so I get paid on time
- pay council tax for this month - im doing it in monthly payments via my bank rather than setting up a dd or so (don't know why) just worked out this way.
- food shop and stick to the list I make
- take some bags of stuff to charity shop and others to cash by kg
- clear paperwork off my desk
- blitz my bedroom this week (needs a good clear out including clearing stuff out the wardrobe that don't fit so Ive got some space in there for things that do...)
