ok couple of days off from one project @ work which will give me the chance to regroup and give myself a kick up the @55. Don't know why I make it so hard sometimes I guess I just lose motivation but it sure does make it hard going when it happens.

I think some of the problem is I want to see some progress on stuff, it feels like all I do is work (sometimes numerous jobs at once) and pay bills. I'm scraping together nominal payments on DMP whilst my income settles down again, I cant see any balances going down (infact they are heading the other direction - not good)...:(

happy that my family is back together but they all have their own lives (which is how it should be) so I'm yet again billy no mates. think I need to snap out of it, part of it is I hate the winter and the cold and the dark, part of it is I'm bored silly with having no fun or money or anything to look forward to - gosh this is turning into a woe is me isn't it??

ok im off to go and give myself a stern talking to 'sort it out' style

ok spendy weekend all told - went to see my mom and got her some bits and pieces she needed so just short of 100 gone there all told, its ok I can cover it just always seems to be something that crops up..

rest of the month should be a slow one spends wise - DS1 has his new job starting last week of the month so he's independent from then, DS2 is happy doing his own thing, my work is settling down with new contract work starting week after next, invoice for this month is a nice meaty one so that's good cos it gives me a bit of wriggle room for change of payment date next month. freezers and cupboards are full so nothing needed there except perhaps perishables, bread, milk and fruit and veggies - all that being bought locally.

got a response regarding another of the PPI claims and they've made an offer of 200 and a few coppers - I made it 300+ but again I cant be bothered to fight - its coming off the balance on the card so that should be credited in next 30 days. just one PPI claim outstanding now and that's the biggie, I make it just short of £700 so if I get an offer of 500 or so I will snap their hand off :)

business with ex had a show weekend infact last week slowed down as it went by - fingers crossed it picks up a bit. infact picks up a lot :D
  • budget done for the rest of the month and all ok there - got some work on fiverr come thru so making an extra couple of quid there as well so all good...

menu planning done for rest of week, another 2 bags of stuff to take to place that buys clothes by kg so another 10 or 12 quid there waiting to be collected...

plan today is work 2 projects alongside each other (can't wait for these days to be over), sort out paperwork and file it / shred it as appropriate so my desk is actually clear (cant remember the last time that was the case), then its just tick over till new contract job starts last week of this month.

    exciting life I lead uh?;)
  • Hi Catandy,

I have just read all your thread (took me a couple of days!) and I had to post as what you went through with being let down by freelance companies is what I am experiencing now!

Myself and my husband run our own company and I took on extra work from one company so that I was working four days a week there and let a couple of other clients go so I could focus on one main client. Then three weeks ago, this main client, cut my days from four a week down to two a week and then a week later down to zero days a week with no notice!

I have had to scramble to find other work and quickly so that we can pay all our bills etc. I think October is going to be tight in terms of money as I haven't worked really for two weeks now, but hopefully we should be alright after that.

It is nice to know that there is someone else who has gone through what we are going through. I am going to subscribe to your diary so I can get inspiration/ideas on how to keep going!

yes the freelancing bit is a bit of a rollercoaster ride at times isn't it - more than anything I just wish the companies that hire me were straight ie they must know their order books are drying up and it looks like they may not need me for a while so some notice for me to be able to back myself up would be invaluable but no they just keep stringing people like me and you along so we're there if/ when pick up for them. makes me mad :mad:
  • so contract work still due to start later in the month, freelancing is as ever up and down with me juggling 2 contracts from 2 companies (cant wait till these days are over).

business with ex is up and down - brilliant days trading followed by rubbish days so not yet settled down properly at all. we're having issues with one of the companies that use our system keep changing their mind on how they want to use the system which means a lot of work for us keep swapping and changing all the time, tbh for the amount of hassle they are creating they are not worth keeping as a client so we either need to pull an end to it or nip it in the bud and say no more changes but easier said than done :)

life just ticking on... and nothing earth shattering going on money saving or debt busting wise .... :(

not heard back from any of my creditors yet regarding my revised offer of payment on my dmp which I've taken as a good sign - tbh anything that gives me a bit of breathing space and lets me get onto my revised pay dates for bills without hassle is good at the moment. my offers are going up again next month so they are going to be getting dizzy with the changes at this rate anyway!

all bills are paid for this month, freezers and cupboards full so nothing needed there apart from just bread/ milk and fruit and veggies as needed. car is full of petrol so nothing needed there - all told we're doing ok. just need to tick thru to new pay date next month then im back on an even keel (just providing nothing unplanned crops up)... fingers crossed

got my first response to my revised offers of payments from a DCA acting for my ex bank who have refused the offer and reintroduced interest on a daily basis ,,,, !!!!!!!! that means I now have aqua charging full interest plus my loan reintroduced interest.... don't see how I am ever going to be able to make headway with all of this now - the amount I owe is going up not down
  • That's awful news about the DCA reintroducing interest! I hope the others agree!

Why is that when you think you are getting somewhere and have a plan on how to pay things off, that something happens to completely upset all your hard-worked plans!

I just had found a nice 2 day a week job, was all ready to start, and then email comes through, 'I hope I don't inconvenience you too much, but we have decided to postpone appointment until the new year.' - Well yes you have inconvenienced me as I had stopped looking for other work as I don;t like letting people down, so this last week has been spent in a mad rush, trying to find more work! October was looking awful as it was without the loss of this income.

Then another new job that I was supposed to start on 16th September has been postponed until 30th September :mad:

Why can't these people decide what they want and stick to it!

Hope your work is going better Catandy!

interest frozen again after a heated conversation with one of their robots who picked up the fone...

2 x cc agreed to reduced payments on DMP and a freeze in interest and a review again in 6 months, just another 6 to hear back from now but I've decided not to let them get me down. they cant have what I haven't got so even if it takes till I'm 60 I will get straight again (fingers crossed it doesn't take that long though cos I would really like a bit of a life in the next 15 or so years :) )

company with ex is getting busier and busier which is great - sold 2K$ worth of business this trading week so far (since 8am Sunday) and fingers crossed that next week is even busier for us. would be nice to do the 10K next month so that's the target we have set ourself. business will slow down November and December then pick up again into the new year...

work for me will also slow down up to the xmas break, infact it already is. companies are putting things on hold so I've now been without work again for 4 days out of 5 this week - I'm just wishing my life away waiting for this new project to start and get into a routine with that.
