    At Mums,

    I wouldn't want to sponge so I do pay the going rate - sort of, I have no leccy or gas bills nor council taxes and it does include car insurance.

  • I could definitely cut down the food bill. and when I was massively in debt I didn't have a "beauty" budget - Mum cut my hair!

    xx

    Trying to make cutbacks.......................................

    Rent = 750 not going to change

    Phone = 30 is normally 20/25.......

    Food = 40 x4 = 160 this could be cheaper - some weeks not others. I could batch cook. work out nice lunches instead of buying the meal deals.

    Petrol = 30 X 4= 120 this was conservative to start with.

    Beauty (!) = 50 I don't know. I should do without really but my skin has improved hugely.

    Car = 50

    nights out/ weekends away? = £200? this could be cut or come out of my second wage.

    Travel = 20 (oyster) don't aways use this. not a monthly cost more an as and when.

    pets = 100 (vet savings and 1/2 insurance for the dogs, it might be more tho) this is difficult currently the dogs are not insured.

    that makes = £1480

    Debts = 221

    Hmmm not may cuts to be made really. Not regularly.

    I think each month I should be able to
    save maybe 50 quid - like not going out, spending less in sainsburys....

    I would have 480 left for my wages, 221+480 = 701 (that one pound is going to bug me!) for the loan.

    I have a variable wage from my second job which I would use for gifts, union fees, savings.

    There are probably gaps. And I have no idea how I would manage this budget. spending diary I guess.............

    ugh.

    xxx

  • I have been thinking a lot tonight.

    And sighing a lot too! I grant you this is partly because my friend's Mum has died and that makes you think about your whole life a little differently.

    Also been reading the Frugal Challenge.

    Every so often I get to wondering what is really possible in life. It is all possible I guess - one of my rules? a core belief I guess is that if you want something badly enough you will get it. And that whole thing not all of us notice - we actually do get what we put work into. For example I have a wide ranging knowledge of TV - why? I watch it every day! Most of my closest friends are online - why? I don't go and see my friends in real life - essentially they have kids and are busy and I work too much. I do see one or two work friends but my oldest friends....not so much.

    I feel my enthusiaum for the debt free life is like the tide, sometimes in and sometimes out. In fact in the thick of term I don't even think about it. And that is a continual problem. sucked into work my life, health and money stuff either ticks over (ahem no) or goes to !!!! !

    I so need to get my !!!! together.

    I suppose there are positive changes, more friends - men - a good development :) and much better skin. Passed another bit of the MA. Not sure what is happening there.

    And I am mostly out of trouble at work - well for now ;)

    And I am off for another weekend next weekend hopefully. :rotfl: (can't believe this is me doing this but it is SO much fun!)

    so sleepy now. cocoa but do feel a bit sick still. I like cocoa.

    (this is the level of my thought processes right now folks!)

    Beeping beep :eek: *sits down and feels faint* - that's more than my mortgage & all household bills:eek::eek:

    I'm all for paying a fair amount but is this really it?

    If you weren't there, would your mum rent the room to someone else for the same / more than this?
