  • I am very much aware renting is the easiest thing to do - as I said in my original post it is the quickest way forward and as I said I was thinking aloud, I have gone through all this before hence saying there was little point in comenting as I am undecided.

And Chev, I don't actually think I want children so that is no longer a consideration.

Today was a waste of time- we went to work not a popular decision. Driving was grim, the school was not cleared. Tomorrow I will not be taking my car.

In other news my mechanic has found me a new car. I am having mixed feelings about this. I would love it if my car could last me till the summer. But it is not. The thing is my car is 17 years old and this one is 13 years old. This one 55,000 miles on the clock. It is a diesel car. mine has 67,000 and runs on unleaded.

It just doesn't sound like a siginicantly better deal to me. It is a bit better but if I am going to spend 1500 quid (or maybe 1350 depends)

    grrrrrrr.

A diesel will happiliy do 200k miles. A petrol will go to car heaven at 100 - 110k.

But really, it depends on whether the new one has been serviced regularly. Whether it's cambelt has been changed (the elastic band that keeps things running and important that it is changed on a diesel) and other big things that you have sorted on your own are about to go on the new one.

If you trust the mechanic, let him do an assessment. A diesel should just run and run (better if it is a turbo, but just a different way of driving if not)

I do trust the mechanic. He is the husband of a friend of a very good friend. I will ask about the cambelt - try to sound a little knowledgeable!

I am so tired today. Went to a funeral which was very odd - well, my friend had done a very good job of making it nice but everything I knew about the woman who died.......well it wasn't nice. So a sort of surreal affair.

As ever Funerals make you think. but am too sleepy and in need of doing some work.

    *yawns*

  • Oh I have been tired and useless all evening, fell asleep on the sofa with the dogs - they are heavy!

I have made my plans for the weekends - Build the Guinea pig cage, move the fish tank - risky but needs to be done. The fish will be going soon - springtime and I will need to sell or freecycle it and so it will need to be downstairs for that. Feel a bit naff for the fish, they will be very stressed by the move :(

It won't do the guinea pigs much good either. I shall have to do it in stages. *faff*!

I am having such dejavu - watching this ridiculous programme on Allotments.

I also need to sort my paperwork out............I did a stupid thing about 18 months ago. I bought a filling cabinet and followed the advice of the Getting things Done book. He says to file alphabetically (I had folders for each organisation I dealt with) but it did not work for me. AT ALL. so currently I have boxes of files which need shredding and I need to restart the folder system.......

Right now I should sort lunch and life for tomorrow. I wish it was the weekend. Or it would be a snow day.

The Allotment programme is nuts. Poor sod lost his land, people are WELL strange!! ooo somebody has been at the committee members' carrots...........

right to bed - well puppies at least xxx
