I am watching a film - I Love You Man. My GOD it is the funniest thing I have seen in AGES.
properly made me laugh out loud and I don't normally like films with lots of swearing or really gross jokes.
Of course anyone who knows me in real life knows I swear like a trooper. especially in front of small impressionable children. but hey that is another story.
Moving on. Conversation with bloke. he is worried about my health!
Basically when we went away I was unwell. Not quite billy both ends (THANK GOD) just throwing up like a professional (too much info for a moneysaving diary!) but he was SO nice about it........any how he really paid attention to what I was eating (!) and made sure I was drinking water etc for the rest of the weekend and we did take it easy. I got so tired! (from walking round London I'll have you know!) Tonight he said in the spirit of honesty (I guess) that he thought I didn't look after myself properly, I don't eat right and seem generally not healthy.
Now, I have no doubt any number of friends could tell me this, and have on many occasions. but does anyone else just think it is one of those things women say to each other, we are all tired, we are all stressed and seemingly on the verge of nervous breakdown, no one I know eats breakfast, most of my friends want to lose weight or are on a diet, hate their hair/arms/thighs/bum, most have an "ailment" of some description - migraine, heavy periods, achey this that and the other.
I do seriously wonder what modern life is doing to us all!
It becomes part of the expectation and soundtrack of a woman's life. (I am not saying men don't have pressures on them, just that not having a penis I don't know what the pressures are). To have a virtual stranger (I mean he isnt but he has only been around a few months) tell you this and make observations about your life - not unkindly just questioning what he sees.........well it made me wonder. my lifestyle is kinda crap. I don't eat properly or reguarly, I can't seem to eat full dinners with out feeling ill and will happily just eat chocolate to survive a rough day.
any how I know all this, knew before he came along. Just interesting to see it is "true" if you see what I mean.
right late night crap aside I have LOADS to do tomorrow
so best get to bed.

What is his lifestyle like Buffy....does he eat properly and generally look after himself?
I agree modern life is killing us. We seem to be under so much pressure to do things faster and better and even enjoy ourselves more. In fact I think its this pressure to have a good life that puts so much pressure on us. When we look back to the olden days...and by olden days I mean pre 1980 backwards to infinitey we did not have this pressure.
When I was a child my playtime was playing out, reading a book or listening to my radio. No mobile, no laptop no access to the outside world beyond my immediate circle and yes www has brought me lots of things I would not have had...lots of virtual friends who have become real friends.
I didn't eat crap food, in fact crap food didn't exist. I didn't watch endless tv cos we only had three channels. I didn't eat take aways apart from fish and chips now and then cos they were not really the norm.....
There is a pressure on us to enjoy life to the full when actually we should just stop and enjoy the moment. As you quite rightly say, put your oxygen mask on before you put someone else's on.
He is not wrong, you should ALWAYS eat breakfast and you should always eat properly...that is a start, and drink more water. but this is from someone who has existed on coffee and chocolate for weeks....I can preach but find it incredibly difficult to do...
I don't think you are particularly unhealthy...just normal - well as normal as I want you to be...any less normal and you would be weird....Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Hey Stranger
So lovely to see you have a man in your life.
I agree that we ignore things so easily for all sorts of reasons . We never put ourselves first and when someone cares about us and starts putting us first, these things come up again. Take advantage of it and start doing those little things - hopefully it will help you to feel better!

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again. - F Scott Fitzgerald"
Just putting that quote up there just because I like it.

Sorry, completely missed this!
I do think life was more straightforward and had fewer distractions. Expectations may have been high maybe but people weren't so on show all the time, on FB, Twitter etc.
I think kids have too much - I don't mean from their parents just in general in terms of tv, console games, internet etc. very hard to have consistent values across so much. Hence many (tho not all) fat confused kids.
