The Road to Rio......... :)

Well.....I have just watched the closing ceremony of the Paralympics and been reminded just what people go through and how amazing they really are.

As well as that the dedication, drive and willpower of all the althetes all summer is so inspiring. To really see a goal - four years into the future and decide that you will go for it is to me very impressive.

As a deeply cynical Londoner I was surprised how much it all affected me. I watched every bit of the Olympics and went 3 times to see events - an amazing experience! I was moved by the winners and the nearly winners. I thought the coverage was brilliant on the BBC (not so much on C4) and love Claire Balding!

I have always believed that anything is possible if you want it badly enough. The key is wanting it badly enough. Since training to be a teacher I haven't really been moved enough to want anything else.

I did became debt free last year and passed my driving test - they were things I wanted. Nothing else has cropped up in the last year and I am generally just busy with work and not really thinking about things long term. Just had a sort of ooo I am out of debt......ermmmmmmm year!

So in four years - well 3 and a bit (!) I will be 40. Scares me witless!

I have made some poor decisions in my life to be honest. I am not going to list them all here! but suffice to say although I am out of debt I am not in the financial position I want to be in.

The thing I really want is a house. It was sort of abstract idea until recently, I didn't really think it was possible having been in debt and being single but I am begining to think it is possible.

So this diary instead of being all waffly and directionless is going to be about buying a house. By the time Rio come around I want to be in the Mortgage free wannabe camp!

I currently have £300 pounds in my bills account and 138 pounds in my spends account - to last till the end of the month.

I have paid my CC bill - this is meant to be for petrol only but has been around 600 pounds a month - always paid but nothing on there is essential apart from Petrol. I have been spending on clothes meals out books pets without thinking about it at all.

I have 1210 in my savings account and a loan application with the H*lifax. I am figuring get the loan pay it down asap whilst looking for a house.

IF I don't get the loan then it will be the long slog but lets not think about that just yet. Hopefully I will know more tomorrow.

I also have to pay the hospital bill (I have beign skin cancer which I am getting treated privately due to the incompetence of my GP) so there will be more to pay for tomorrow.

I might even be moved to do a proper SOA you never know!

Right now I have guinea pigs to feed. so good night

Hi Buffy good luck with your journey.

Will you be able to get one of the key worker houses because of your job?

And of course if you were living in a different part of the country (because you have a new job), then you might be able to afford the house prices there more easily. Eg if you went up north for example....

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Work was hard (!)

I did my start of term shop - ie hot chocolate, supply of biscuits plus I bought two weeks worth of pet stuff.

oh and 4 Christmas presents but they only cost 10.00 so don't excuse the £45. 62

I was a bit surprised! and need to plan more carefully. Am currently shattered and off to bed - well I have to make lunch and feed piggies.

couldn't go to the Doctors or ring the bank, finished work WAY too late!

So not much to report other than shopping and extreme tiredness.

  • Right well, I have been trying to limit my internet time so I can get more work done.

It isn't not exactly working..............I did date and stuff over the summer and met a nice guy who I am still seeing although we have hit a bit of a rough patch to be honest - hence having the time to post!

I do post on the messy thread :)

Work wise it is managable. sort of.

money wise he he . lets not go there tonight.

I started this post hours ago but got interupted by work and chat.

I hope by the end of this month to have at least two thousand pounds in savings. Christmas is getting sorted and the day zero list is going well.

I need sleep. which is in short supply so just checking in

    Love Buffy xx
