I get to the point where my clothes fit again and think "oh I've done well that's all I need to lose" when in reality they are my "fat" clothes and all my really nice clothes still need about another 2 stone off before I will fit into them! Personally, I think the lose half, gain half, stay the same is a combination of (a) my body getting used to the plan (b) my brain knowing how to cheat the plan and stop measuring things quite so accurately and (c) because I feel so much happier with the weight I've lost, the serious motivation I had in the first place is lost (d) I get bored of the same old food which seemed so exciting in the first place.

Can you try to change your food perhaps?
    Thanks for posting.:)

I don't try and cheat the plan and I love cooking so we are not at all bored with our SW food - we eat really well. I was talking about half pounds by the way. I just can't get my head round why I gain it, lose it, stay the same and others around me are losing say 2 or 3 lbs most weeks.
  • Thanks for taking the time to check for me Blodwen and maman. I have about a months worth of soup and dinners, but I'm so anxious to get started! My family have done amazingly well this year, but they do live about 300 miles away. My parents are retired and have plenty of time to shop, cook and they prepare all my sisters meals too. I've really been struggling to eat right since my boyfriend went veggie and we stopped cooking together so I can't wait for us to start.

Piglet, it sounds brilliant! Well done on getting to the final 8! :j:j:j

Well done on the losses, Kandfs mam, Gillyx, emmarox05 and Beanie! :T:T

Well done to any maintainers too.

Do your Diet Chef foods have nutritional info on the packaging? I ask because there is a facility to calculate syns/free food on the SW website, if you have the protein, calorie content and so on of foods.

Alternatively, you could join SW anyway for the support and try mix 'n' matching your meals with SW meals. I imagine that the diet food is pretty low in fat, so are pretty SW friendly anyway.

You'll soon discover (at weigh ins) if you need to adjust anything to lose weight. Good luck. :)

Hi, Well done on all the losses. I bought the BBQ fry light and have so far only used it on some chicken, which I didn't really like. Apart from potato wedges what else has anyone tried it on? Thanks.

I haven't tried the barbecue one but I got the stir fry and I'm not keen on that. I'm happier with ordinary Frylight and a splash of soy and 5 spice.

    Haven't had a bad day.

    EE menu:
B: HEB toast, baked beans, HEA milk for teas
L: slice ham, bubble&squeak, spoon of Branston
D: baked haddock, new potatoes, cauliflower cheese, roast carrots, tomato
    Syns: pickle & cheese sauce

Haven't seen you around for a couple of days mm, hope all is well.:)

I do know what you mean, all of what I'd written was about me and what happens when I gain/lose/sts and definitely not meant to suggest that you cheat the plan or don't eat well! I know what you mean about half pounds but don't know why some people do lose more than others. I'm definitely the half pound type!

maman - thanks for checking on peas for me :) Good to know they are SS. Thanks also for the reply about the SF food (and everyone else who took time to reply). Good to know as long as 1/3 of my daily food is SF then I should be OK. I am restricted to the fruit and veg that I can eat but I can eat some so even if I have to eat peas every night, it has to be better than nothing.

Well done to all the losers :T:T

I tend to average my SFs across the day too. I try to snack on a bit of fruit but always have plenty of veg with my supper to be on the safe side

This was discussed in class last night, the first time I've ever heard our consultant really say one way or the other. It was because one of the new ladies was confused about the 1/3 SF so it was explained clearly. She said the 1/3 can be veg in a meal but it is very unlikely you would get enough in a meal as it cooks down, so to add extra to the plate. I bit my tongue to avoid saying "well doesn't it depend how much you put in in the first place?!" but I kept quiet! The lady also asked if having fruit afterwards counted towards the 1/3 and the response was "only if it's in the same sitting". Again I kept quiet as I know what works for me so I'm sticking to it. I can see what she's saying, and tbh I tend to use tons of veg and moderate my portion sizes of the stuff that goes with the SF so it probably does make 1/3, but either way if something works for me I'll stick with it no matter what the official line is!

Anyway, work calls. Green (and unorganised) today:
    B: Bran flakes (B), milk (A), banana
L: Low fat super noodles, nectarine
T: Some form of pasta, maybe with pesto (2.5), cheese (A), pitta bread (6)
    S: Pineapple, 2 x alpen light (B), Rocky (5.5)

Have a good day folks :)

  • Great loss Blodwen; I'm with you on the SF thing - I try to avg it out through the day.

Last night I made chilli with 300g ex lean mince, tin kidney beans, 2 large onions, 2 tins chopped tomatoes and 2 large red peppers so although the veg would start to reduce down, I did put quite a bit in to start with.

I am also determined to get to 5st by Christmas so we will chivvy each other along.

Have a good day every one. x
