Well funny you should say that.. I've just made some cheese and onion potato scones. OMG are they lush.. especially straight out the oven. ( Next time they are getting lathered in cheese ) Better yet... SYN FREE perfect for breaky, or a snack...
    110g of Smash
250 (tub of) FF cottage cheese
    3 eggs.
    Onion diced,
    Chives.
    Salt and pepper to taste
Makes about 8 palm of the hand sized scones.

Fry the onions off in fry light. Mix eggs with Cottage Cheese n chives - then add onions. Add to the smash.. mix like mad. Shape and place on baking tray ( lined as they stick) cook at 180 for 30 minutes.

    - Avoid lathering in butter when hot out the oven at all costs :D

great start.. stick with it.. :D

glad I could help just remember to syn count the sausages, cream if you add it and BBQ too ;)

I'll probably get an award for stupidist question of the year :o but..... do you make the smash up first or is it dry smash that you use? I can't work it out :rotfl:

I did slimming world a few years ago + stopped going to group but am thinking about starting again but I am breastfeeding at the moment & just wondered if anyone knows if & how I can do sw while bf (little one is just 6 months old so I am not putting pressure on myself to lose babyweight too soon!0

    Thanks.

    Sarah.

If you go and rejoin a group they will be able to advise you about how the plan works whilst breastfeeding - I know they suggest additional healthy extras and I *believe* there's a booklet they can give you (atleast my consultant gave someone one when they returned to group :) )

  • Hi Kraftykat, today is my second weigh in and I've been having terrible problems too! I think I will get some fybogel as it's not a good feeling. Congratulations on your weight loss, it's nerve racking standing on those scales isn't it?! Xx

Hi MrsParkinson, it really isn't a good feeling and yes it is nerve racking standing on the scales...Good luck with your weigh in today :j
  • Hi everyone

I've been lurking for the last few days, but loving reading all your posts. Shellie, those scones sound delishes, definately trying those! I've had a bad week with my bf but have stuck to plan most days (Sunday was a write off lol).

Boyfriend has really wound me up this week, I have cooked all our meals, done all the washing up, bought all the food whilst he has just sat around whinging (first he had flu, then he had a bladder infection, then he got a jury service summons, it really sucks to be him lol). Monday night I was working til 6 and not due home til 7ish so asked bf to make tea for me coming home. I eventually got a disgusting (weird tasting and far too hot) veg curry with hardly any veg at 9pm! Can't carry on like this though so I'll be having a proper chat with him tonight about how we go forward.

Slowly getting to grips with what we can eat, can I ask for some suggestions for free/low syn convenience foods? I know we should be cooking from scratch but I don't think I can do 3 meals a day 7 days a week...

  • I'm baaaaaacckkk!!!

If you'll have me of course!

I am in need of your help

I have lost my mojo - it is nowhere to be found - especially not in the biscuit barrel or at the bottom of the ben & jerrys!

I still go to group - even won Woman of the Year for the second year on the trot - but only for being an inspiration - not weight loss! Although i do tend to give out the advice and not listen/follow it myself!

Can you give me a kick up the jacksy please?

BTW - please be careful with the potato scones - the view by slimming world is that they should be classes as syns as you are using the smash as a flour substitute - if your weight loss is good at the moment by all mean count them as free - but if it starts to slow down - it would be best to count them as syns (use the original day syn value for the smash)

They are also really nice with just cheese!

I will amend my signature later - but compared to the start of the year - i am 1/2 stone heavier and have paid slimming world for the pleasure! The target of loosing a total of 7st by christmas is not going to be hit - nowhere near!

I need to get a crack on as me and hubby are TTC, but having a BMI of nearly 45 is not helping!

I haven't managed to read the rest of the last thread and have only scanned the last couple of pages on here - but how is MrsM? and Dizzy?

Hi, Batchelors Pasta n Sauce (cheese & broccoli / chicken & mushroom / the tomatoey one) are all free when cooked with water...i sometimes add some frozen mixed veg to the water too.

Batchelors low fat supernoodles are free.

Sainsburys tinned ravioli in tomato sauce - free.

A baked potato bunged in the microwave with beans - free.

How about making a big pot of nice thick soup, spag bol or chilli, freezing it in portions then just leave one out to defrost in the morning.

ETA - I quite often don't use many of syns so I wondered about allowing myself the whole tub of ice cream over the week (55 syns ) and when it's gone it's gone. So if I have a wee bit every night it will last longer or if I trough it all on the monday night that's my syns gone for the week. Hmmm, one to ponder

If B&J is your passion then I'd go for it! I always save my syns for weekends. I like to be able to have wine at weekends and allocate up to 75 syns for that. The remaining 3 I use for gravy and sauces and the odd other ingredient across the week.

Batchelor's Savoury Rice is free and so is Asda Chick Pea Dahl.

Many cooked meats are free and most are low syn.

It's worth making a basic pasta sauce and freezing it to just add to pasta for a a super quick meal.

I did check that take-away book rfd and the duck rolls aren't free. It looks to me as if most/all the syns are in the wraps not the filling. The burgers are free as I suspected, not much more to them than extra lean mince.

Mrs Parkinson, your post did take me back to a toilet problem when I first started. For a short while, I took Senokot a day or so before WI;) Your body will adjust to the new way of eating though.

Good to see you posting again nessie. I'm sure that just keeping in touch with the thread will help you get motivated and in the zone. it does me and I've been at target for 13 months now.:D We don't hear from Mrs M or Dizzy. Taking it Easy (IIRC) did post that Mrs M had her baby and all was well but (although we think of her often) Dizzy has never reappeared after the family illnesses.
    :wave:if you're lurking dizzy.
  • Maman, which one has a new recipe. I just go by what the sw website says. I like the cheese & broccoli pasta n sauce, hope it's not that

I know the macaroni cheese etc do have syns though.
