I find it very hard TBH but at the moment I am stressed about things I have no control over and I have always been a stress eater.I help with the shop as it makes me go to class & I try hard to keep things in check. If I dident go to class I would be putting it all back on at a very fast rate of knots.
I do SW & not WW though.
I'm trying to figure out if successful SW losers also tend to put weight back on once they come off the diet. From what people have said on here, it's more of a lifestyle change rather than a 'diet' so I'd like to think it's easier to adapt SW once you reach target so you maintain your weight.

The SW magazine always features people who have kept their weight off for 5, 10, 15, even 20 years! I find their stories very inspiring.0 -
Managed to keep the weight off for about 18 months then gave up smoking! Weight started going back on for about 6 months and now starting to come off again. Problem seemed to be that when I gave up smoking my appetite increased - I was still more or less sticking to plan but probably eating more "free" food than before which although free if you constantly pick at it increases the number of calories (I now we don't count calories but if you've not used to eating that amount of food your body somehow doesn't work in the the same way, iykwim).

I gave up smoking nearly 8 years ago. I was determined not to gain weight and discussed this with my Stop Smoking Nurse. I didn't start eating sweets, chocolates, biscuits etc and I bought in healthy snack items and loads of fruit and veg to nibble.
Very gradually the weight went on and I reckon I gained over 2 stones in the first year. It was seriously depressing and I couldn't work out why I was gaining so much weight. The GP told me that my metabolism had slowed down and could take as long as 18 months to get back to normal. She also said that giving up smoking was far better than the weight gain and to just hang in there.
I now weigh less than I was 10 years ago.0 -
Hi everyone
This week has been a wobbly one. I was gutted at staying the same on MOnday despite only having 48 syns all week, Tues was OK - only had 5 syns, Wed I was a crazed cookie monster type personcrisps, chocolate, ice cream - it all got stuffed down my throat then I felt guilt, sadness, disgust - all the negative emotions. I poured my heart out on our group's facebook page and the support I got made me cry.
So Thurs was a fresh start - back to basics, lots of SF and syn free;
Today I took DD away to Glasgow on a shopping trip. She wanted to go to Pizza Hut for lunch but I just nursed a black coffee and filled up on fruit in the car; Made SW Chicken Korma & rice for tea and it was lovely. I had a NSV today though when I bought a clingy size 18 knee length dress for all the nights out I have coming up. Much better than the size 24 baggy top & trousers combo I was wearing last xmas!
Hope everyone's well. xxMortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Morning all
My first week back on plan is going just about ok although my syns for the last two days have been on the high side.
I haven't been keeping proper track this week as been so busy in work I don't seem to have had time to catch up with myself. But I am still feeling positive and looking forward to catching up with a friend later.
Hoping to sit quietly and meal plan tomorrow!0 -
Kandfs - So glad that you felt better buying something in a smaller size.
I picked up 2 new tops yesterday which are in smaller sizes - so far have gone from a 20 - 16. However, i found one size 16 top i bought 3 weeks ago looks naff on as though it is one of my older ones but i darent buy a 14 just yet as my head is telling me i havent lost enough weight to justify it.
Anyway today i have no meal plan, theres nothing off plan in the house to pick on so im going to wing it as i am wallpapering my hallway in a short while - plenty of body magic up and down the ladder. Will try and catch up with everyone later when i get a tea break - if hubby isn't being a slave driver :rotfl::j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

I think anybody doing any 'diet' will gain lost weight if they go back to eating junk. I have been at target 2 years and have never gone back over my target but only due to still following sw. As they say its not a diet but a way of life. Personally I stick to sw through the week and weekends I eat whatever I want including junk, yes my weight fluctuates but only by small amounts, anything I don't like I pull it back by the next week.
Anyway wi and have lost 2lb  [4lb under now] really not a shock as have been very poorly this week. 2 days of no food and 2 days of very little food. Still not right so fully expect a gain next week. The joys of working with 4/5 yr olds. Winter vomiting has started as well as the usual throat/colds. Me being me has had them both.
Dragging myself out today as trousers I ordered from Matalan for son [starts his 1st job on Monday :T] are too small [he has rugby players thighs :rotfl:] so off to Mr A for a couple of cheapies to see him through til his 1st pay packet then he can get his own.
Well done to all you losers and hugs to those in need, keep the faith and you will get there :A:AIts not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

on here tell us how they've got on post-target? Have you managed to keep the weight off?

I've managed to keep at target for 14 months so far. When I've gone out of range it's been below rather than over. What's happened, I believe, is that planning/shopping/eating SW food has become my default position. When I do go flexi it's usually on a meal out so no risk of carrrying on at home. On the snacking between meals, I think if you're doing EE you need to still be aware of the one third SF across the day. If you snack on too many free foods it skews the proportions. That's my logic anyway.;) I generally have a load of veg with my meal in the evening to make sure I've had enough AFs.0
