I have come to the conclusion that people dont know how to cook anymore - and it is a dying art. I love to potter in the kitchen and so does my hubby - so i am probably very lucky.
In our house - you either eat what I cook or you go hungry I dont have the money to waste food. I still have some rubbish in the house for "the others":D, but I very rarely touch it.
Yes my shopping bill has gone up slightly but my takeaway bill bill has come down - swings and round abouts.
A friend from work who also goes to slimming world said last night at WI, I was her inspiration to carry on - as every time she walks past my office Im getting slimmer and smilier - I was so embarressed :obut just a tiny bit chuffed.
On my phone and on my fridge I have a picture of an Olympian and a Paraolympian and I have written the words above them "This is the year I was inspired". I will not allow my life to be ruled by fat and laziness anymore. I have lost 1st 9lb in 11 weeks - and I feel so much better, last night hubby said my spark had returned.
Hang in there everyone - we can do this - find someone to inspire you!.0 -

Lovely post huskypup. I feel smug too. It's not just the weightloss it's also the fact that I'm feeding us healthy, homecooked food on a sensible budget. I find the meal planning is great for just buying what I need rather than throwing stuff in the trolley. I'm a real Domestic Goddess and proud of it!0 -
yay big news everyone!!!
the sw online website asked me to put in my new weight so i now know how to change my weight and track my progress.
please bear in mind the day i started i know i weighed heavy after a big meal and that was my starting weight....but ive lost 6 pounds!! thats amazing.
i bought a couple of slimming books and am thrilled to find some real trashy ( no offence meant) comfort food...savory rice and pasta and sauce are free!! you only have to count your milk in the pasta. thats fantastic. so for times when only junk food will do....that will do me. also my fav thing to make from scratch is mush risotto and thats free too. i feel that this is so easy to find nice food. im craving choc type stuff still but i have a very sweet tooth and know that this will take time.
have a good evening everyone0 -

Not all the pasta and sauces are free now - there is a new and improved recipe out that has to be synned in group we were told this is upto 5.5 syns per packet when made with water.
If you are craving choc give in with a highlight or options hot choc to see if that will take the edge off for 2 syns a cup when made with water.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Its hard to make new friends because most people already have their own set of friends, and it becomes much hard to "integrate" into an already established group of people..
Parents/good friends are all on the Isle Of Man/dotted all over the country ( scotland/birmingham/peterborough & Somerset).
I don't have any close friends with me in Sheffield , and i too often get lonely. I do have work friends..but they are not proper "friends" if you see what i mean..
I joined night school earlier in the year which started end of September. I hope this will help me to make some new proper friends here in Sheffield because i like it very much here & want to stay. So far it seems to be going well but of course still all early days yet..
Are there any groups near you? What are your interests? This site is worth checking out as there are lots of local activities?http://www.meetup.com/
ETA ..just noticed you are in South Yorkshire? Whereabouts are you? We could meet if you are not too far away?maybe go for a coffee?
I was in Sheffield as I studied at Hallam and my parents live in a village which is nearish so I spent all my time there. Now I've moved to Ossett (Wakefield) but still pop down to Sheffield once every couple of weeksI tried to PM you but it wouldn't let me
psychopathbabble Thank you for your posts, it's nice to know that people online can be just as nice if not nicer than the people around me!
beanielou I love how your posts are always so encouraging of others! I'm starting to struggle with the colder weather too -could easily fill up on syn loaded stew and dumplings so I'm going to be trying to find some warming, filling recipes
Massive thank you to everyone who posts on this thread (ok nearly everyone) it's a massive support and help to me and many others I'm sure! Came back from holiday today, a day early, and will be straight back on plan. Did have treats whilst away but did it relatively well - had a small slice of cheesecake and one tiny slice of chocolate cake but all my other choices were healthy! So hoping to still see a loss over the two weeks when I'm back to group on Wednesday************************************

morning ladies and gents! typically, here it is raining but it IS friday, so woohoo!!
very nearly had a disaster moment yesterday - went to mr T to go shopping whilst hungry...:o actually had to turn around and only go to what i needed to get *i usually go up and down all the aisles*... because i found myself walking towards the chocolate areas, and the desserts
mum is headed out for tea tonight, so although ive been offered to go with her and dad, im opting to stay in - figure i may do less damage in my own home lol!:rotfl:
ooh finished house sitting - OMG i forgot how much i loooooooooove my own bed! have you ever had one of those nights you know you've managed to have a deep sleep, but wake up at JUST the right temperature? like not to hot or cold... just lovely!!:D could have stayed there forever quite happily!:rotfl:
eeeeek! a friend of mine is finally coming home next saturday with his new partner:T... rather excited since i havent seen him since last year! all being well, he should be home permanently too as he says hes missed home. (he was a travel rep and VERY good at it too)... halloween party is also next week, so plan is, im going to be as syn free as possible up to that point and then it means i can enjoy the night a littleI'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know
On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!0 -

Great postI agree, not as many people seem to know how to make basic things these days, which is ironic given the massive number of cookery progs on the telly. My OH isn't really at home in the kitchen, although I think he's trying a bit - he made a loaf the other day, ok in the breadmaker and the recipe was read from a book but at least he showed willing!
Think I'm the same re. food bills - my shopping bill has probably gone up a bit as things like Quark, half fat cheese and Linda Mc & Joe's sausages are more expensive than their higher cal counterparts, but then we don't buy takeaways and I make sure we both have a complete lunch so OH doesn't just nip to tesco to get a drink to go with his lunch and end up spending £3 on a bottle of diet coke (which I hate him having too much anyway), a choc bar and a cake - it's doing his waistline good too
Fab story about what your colleague says- you're doing fantastically well, keep it up!
Green for me today:
B: Weetabix (B), milk (A)
L: Low fat Super noodles (first thing that came to hand this morning)
T: Wasn't sure but after just reading about mushroom risotto I fancy that, got loads of whoopsied mushrooms to use. (A) for cheese and (B) for pitta bread
S: Alpen light (3), some form of biscuit (5)

Morning all
Feeling tired, grumpy & achy this morning. *week has finally arrived (sorry TMI) . I am tender all over and feel weepy
Also had an awful nights sleep because of Yorkshire Water who were doing emergency works right outside my window ( think quiet street & enormous machinery ).. woke me at 12.15 i went out to look & see what was going on. No one around so rang 101 who came to investigate.
They arrived within an hour and informed me there was emergency works going on, and new water tubes were being fitted and valves being fitted. Nice of Yorkshire water to let people know..:mad:
Will be complaining to them at some point today. I quite understand if emergency work needs to happen but but to not pop a letter through explaining has really annoyed me .. Think neighbours were also annoyed as could hear them storming around.
Must have been around 4am before i managed to get some sleep..
I am having a green day today -
B - Linda Mcartney sausages/ Tin of spag hoops
L - pasta n sauce with veggies
D - Sweet potato chips with sweetcorn omelette
Snacks - pineapple, raspberries, muller light greek yoghut (0.5 syns), options hot chocolate (2 syns)
Undergrad degree - completed 2018
Masters degree - completed 20190 -
Goooood moooorning!
Ah last night I slept great but woke up at 05.00 with an achey ear - seems to have gone now though...win!
Breakfast was bran flakes and milk, just about to eat a banana then we are off out to Harvester for lunch in a bit (with the boy, his mum and his grandparents as it's grandpas birthday) but have already planned a SW loving meal, could have a dessert but ice cream isn't my best friend.
Tea will be left over chinese food from last night at a max of 5 syns - probably less as it's chicken and rice (no batter etc on my chicken)!
Just been for a tour round a new sports centre that opens tomorrow in Wakefield and have decided to join! Used to love being a member of a gym in Sheffield so I'm going to join this one and go to a class or two as well as swimming when the boy is in the gym. At £20.12 a month for the next year seems silly to say no as it would easily cost me that a week to go swimming there whilst he's in the gym!
I also have an interview next Thursday for a part time job that lets me work whatever hours I want at £8/hr for 3months so win! That would give me extra money for the gym membership and over Christmas even though I've already bought almost all the presents!
I am in an excellent mood so now I'm off to go and put it to good useHappy days to all and positive thoughts for any with WI!
