Hiya grippers
Just done a long post about my week and lost the lot when I pressed the wrong key .. how bl**dy annoying is that.
Cancelled my Sky tonight as I hardly watch it and things stacking up on the sky box that I just dont watch! Spent over 20 mins on the phone waiting to be put through to "cancellations" which they warned me about before they put me through and Im sure is designed to put people off when they want to cancel as they are ringing on a 0870 number.
I was determined not to be put off and got the landline number from say no to 0870 and as I get free landline calls after 7pm I would have been prepared to hang on till the cows came home
Going to spend the money Im saving every month on a nice gym in a local hotel with some nice facilities. A little treat for me (for a change!) you cant be frugal with everything can you, got to find the right balance.
WW well done on all your spring cleaning etc. Good on you, and the spare room sounds like it will be lovely when its all done. Its hard isnt it to find local people to do odd jobs, that is one thing I do miss my Ex for!
Skint - enjoy your lunch tomorrow and take it easy before you go back to work.
Bye for now x0 -
Morning all!
Have a good lunch Skint - hope you're feeling better now?
Sanch - I was on the phone to Sky for ages last night too! Perhaps it was me holding you up! I was enquiring about how much a replacement box costs - mine is playing silly b*ggers and I thought it was time for a new one but the nice lady on the service desk gave me a few things to try first, will have a go later. I agree about the cost though - I pay £37 a month for TV, broadband and calls (but not the line rental) and every so often think about getting rid of it (don't have movies or sport anymore) but can't quite part with it
Was in the mood so also sorted out a phone upgrade with Vodafone - new phone and slightly better deal for the same cost. Also had a look at how much I'd get for the old phone and it only about a tenner (its quite old) so I ordered the recycling pack. Just waiting for the new one to arrive now.
Need to get on with the Friday list of spring cleaning and hopefully the house clearance man will be around this morning at some point so maybe the furniture will be going too. Must do some marking today too.
Exercise will be dogwalking and maybe a run if its not too windy.
Better get cracking.....0 -
Had a productive day - done all of the spring cleaning jobs on my list for today and a couple more like washing the throws and snuggle fleeces and sorting out the medicine box.
Still waiting for the flipping house clearance man - he now says 4pm, we'll see.
But the triumph of the day is that I've fixed the Sky box:j
Was a bit fiddly and I wasn't really sure if what I was doing was right but its working normally again now - £65 saved!:)
Went mad on the way home fro the park and spent a whopping 68p on a punnet of strawberries for after tea. Might make cheese and potato pies - one for me and one for the freezer.0 -
WW did the furniture man turn up ?
Sanch - the gym sounds like an excellent idea, I agree that a bit of pampering does you good !
Lovely lunch today, not very MSE as vouchers only valid sunday - thu
, but food was lovely so it was worth it, and really enjoyed meeting friends and laughter and chat
Sky sounds expensive. I was thinking of looking at switching, but I have Virgn Media 100+ channels, (basic plus some extras like sky1 but not movies or sports channels) phone with free w/e calls to landlines, broadband, tivo box and extra HD box upstairs (DS's bedroom). With line rental £14.99 & loyalty discount it costs me £38.99 per month in total incl line rental. Plus their helpline is free & they fix or replace the box for free. (Not recommending them in any way
) I use my mobile during the week as I negotiated a good deal with orange for 250 mins & 500 texts & 250mb data sim only for £7 a month.
I was reading today that VM do a once a year payment "line rental saver" for £120 instead of £14.99 a month, so if DS gets this job I am going to ring them to see if thats correct, as that would be a good saving. Does sky do something similar (or is it via BT ?) which would save you money WW if you were willing to commit to 12 months ?
Other than a quick tidy up, and bleaching the kitchen bin I have done sod all for the rest of the day
Decorating can wait until tomorrow

Hi Skint - I haven't been able to have Virgin as there's been no cables in my neighbourhood but, funnily enough, I had a letter through the door yesterday saying they were now coming to the area so maybe I'll look into it.
You also have a fab mobile deal - mine costs twice as much and I thought I was doing well!
Where did you go for lunch? Often in gatherings like that the food ends up being secondary doesn't it, as you have a good gossip and catch up
Well, the furniture man eventually turned up in the middle of tea  but the good news is that he's coming back today to take all of the furniture away and gave me £50 to prove he was coming back. Considering I was going to freecycle the lot its a bonus and he'll get it all downstairs and out of the house.:T
Then I have no excuse to not do the decorating.
It looks like a lovely day today so I'm going to get out for a good walk with the dog and then tackle the inside of the conservatory roof - cobwebs galore! A man is coming tomorrow to give me a quote for cleaning the roof itself, its managed to go a fetching shade of pale green over the winter - looks awful.
I need to ring the carpet shop to book the carpet in for Thursday if possible as the new furniture is getting delivered on Friday. That means that I have to get the painting done by Weds at the latest:eek:
But I've decided that as I've worked harder than when I'm in work this week I'm having an easier more relaxed day today.
Hope everyone has a good weekend - the weather looks good so far.0 -
A good day so far - a nice walk with the dog, 2 hours cleaning the conservatory which is now gleaming, popped to town to get some bits and pieces for the new bedroom (lightshade, bedside lamp and glass ornament), the man came to get the furniture and been to Tesco.
Spent £31 - a bit more than I'd hoped for but I had to replace the cleaning stuff used up over recent days.
Also got some hairdye for next weekend, BB cream (running out) and face wipes - that should see me ok for toiletries for a couple of weeks as I have stocks of the everyday stuff.
One more walk with the dog and then a well deserved sit down with the telly before the painting starts tomorrow.:eek:0 -
Today is the start of the great paintathon:eek::eek::eek:
I'm not a fan of painting but needs must. Will try to get a complete first coat on and then see whether it needs another (hope not!)
I weighed this morning and have lost 1lb - not too bad I suppose but I still feel bloated and swollen, think the hormones are going a bit bonkers again.
A man is coming to give me a quote for cleaning the conservatory roof this afternoon - have no idea what it will cost, probably silly money.:(
Right, better get the dog walked in the park so he'll settle down and let me paint in peace

Good luck with the painting WW.
Lunch out on fri was zizzi's... chicken in white wine sauce... nom nom
Roast potatoes & green beans too... £12.45. Would have preferred to use my 20% off voucher but it was only valid sun to thu
Does it make me a really "sad" person that I see the sun and think... how many loads of washing can I get done today?
Didnt do any decorating yesterday as woke feeling sluggish and yucky, but did manage 3 loads of washing (including bedding) and ironing done (not incl bedding, I dont iron sheets etc). Then spent the afternoon round at a friends house for coffee and chat
Also made a start on cleaning the oven  Hasn't been done for about a year
but I used one of those box cleaners where you put the shelves in a bag overnight. The shelves were black when they went in the bag yesterday but this stuff is fab... I have just rinsed them and they are sparkling like new
with no effort at all. I put some of the stuff inside the bottom of the oven too so I will wipe that off later and see if that has been as successful.
Lovely sunny day here again this morning.... 3 loads of washing waiting to go on
Am feeling more energetic today so I might make a start on decorating the hall later....

My oven is a disgrace!
What's the name of the stuff you used?
Off to get the rollers out, have walked the dog and put it off for long enough!0 -
Hi All
Feeling a bit tired today after my trip to London yesterday but we had a great day and it always cheers me up going there indulging in a bit of culture!!
Im going to get some washing on the line too Skint, I dont think its sad thinking of laundry when the sun is shining I do the same! I think last year it rained so much and for so long that its stuck in our psyche and I dont know about you but I cant stand wet washing drying the house.
Good luck with your painting WW must admit I hate painting although it does look great when its finished doesnt it.
Going to start my marathon watch of stuff on the sky box today too, got loads to watch before Sky goes off in four weeks time!
Have a good Sunday all.0
