  • I have been trying out the everyday value branded products more lately, and overall I have been very impressed with what I have tried. Heres a list of the things I can remember...

Sandwich bags - brilliant, great value at 69p

Floor cleaner - Great, really cheap too

Bread white/brown - ok, not brilliant, but fine if toasted

    Tinned ravioli - lovely

Baked beans - ok, but would pay a little more for Heinz as the sauce is thicker

Frozen cheeseburger and chips - lovely

Frozen cheese omelette - was expecting this to be gross, but was really nice snack/side for a main meal

Multi bag crisps - packs a bit small, buts whos complaining when you get 12 for 69p!!

Fish fingers - really really nice!!!

Tortillas - very nice and soft

Eggs - fine as long as you can live with the fact the chickens are caged

Peppers - fine, bit small maybe

    Chicken breast - fine

Mince beef - a little fatty, but fine once the fat is drained off

Tinned chopped tomatoes - fine, I use these to bulk out a spagetti bolognaise or lasagne

    Chocolate bar - really nice

    Borbon busicuits - very nice

Jaffa cakes - as good as leading brands

Thats all I can think of right now. There are 2 items that I would not buy again.

Frozen chicken nuggets - really horrible, reformed circles of white chicken flavoured meat

Shaving foam - not good for your face, the foam is quite thin, therefore not allowing the razor to glide well

I wish they did a value cat food, that would save me a lot of money, as long as the cats ate it!!
  • The frozen cheese burger and chips is not bad for 99p as said above
its good for a quick snack
2013-Swag bucks £10 Qmee £2.17 App Trailers 1.23 not a huge amount but better than nothing
  • Has anybody tried the Liquid Wash? If so, I'd be interested on your views of it - in terms of performance, value, smell, etc.
  • Tried a few more things...

Mild chedder cheese slices - £1.47 for about 12 slices, excellent value, and tastes good

White bread - brilliant again for 50p

    Sweet pickle - really nice

Macaroni cheese ready meal - slightly strange taste to the cheese sauce, but fine for 80p

Sausgaes - not good, fall apart when grilled, or fried, contain lots of fat, and the meat tastes a bit odd

Baked beans - contain a bit too much sauce, so very runny, so I strained them to remove some of the sauce and they were fine

Of the above, the bread cheese and pickle makes a lovely sandwich!!

Last week I thought I would try the new T value croissants. Nearly mistook for a yorkshire pudding, vile thing. I don't know who approved that for a croissant. Could of had it with a roast and not known the difference. Pah! Wont buy them again.

I always buy T value sponge scourers, salted butter, makeup wipes all brilliant products considering the price. I don't buy many value products at all, I'm currently trialling a few products each week but I wont buy value meat (or containing), eggs, toilet roll or nappies. Thats my no go list.

Everyday Value Cornflakes - Just as good as Kellog's and only 35p for a large box :)

  • January generally being a skint month, I am trying more everyday value items!

Spagetti bolognaise ready meal - actually really good, a lot more sauce than pasta, but very good!

Garlic bread - ok, not massivly garlicy, but I always tend to dip garlic bread in mayo or garlic mayo anyway, so its fine for 30p!

Blackcurrent and apple squash - this is actually really good

Sausage and mash ready meal - really good

Red wine (small 1 glass carton) - brought this as a joke, as I thought it would be disgusting, I was wrong, perfectly drinkable and for £1.39 for a large glass of red, is very good!!

I have come to the conclusion that most Tesco Everyday Value items are good, and even when they aren't so good they become good when you consider how much you paid for them!

The only thing I would say is I do wonder what kind of meat goes into the meat products (ham slices etc) but if you can get past that, then its fine!

I bought their value frozen peas last week, after always buying Birds Eye, and I like them. Nice colour, size and taste. Only problem is I've no idea what I paid for them as the SEL wasn't there lol.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

It's absolutely fine .. I refuse to buy Bold, Arial etc as they are way too expensive and give me itchy skin, preferring to buy the cheaper brands and use Comfort or Lenor to add gorgeous smell when they are on special offer! HTH ;)
