I haven't had the sausages in a year or so, but I don't think they're too bad. They cook in the oven, so handy if you don't have a separate grill. They taste absolutely fine in a fry-up or sarnie.

As for the squash, I actually find it stronger than some other brands, but I have only tried the blackcurrant flavour.

Shall have to try them, I usually get the haddock at 4 for £2.

The white fish in butter sauce are okay, a little chewy, but acceptable. Not as cheap as £1 though.

Tomato ketchup 19p a bottle, down from 22p. This tastes fine, it is slightly thinner in texture to the branded ones.

I agree with this one, also chocolate chip cake bars, 50p for 5 :D x

I am a big fan of Tesco value items and since we've had to cut our spending right back I now buy them even more

    I / we like:
Pasta / spaghetti / lasagna sheets
    Toilet roll
    Fruit squash
Garlic bread stick - only 32p and tastes lovely, it's brilliant for bulking out a cheap pasta meal
    Washing up liquid
    Eggs
    Tea bags
All biscuits - especially custard creams, ginger nuts and chocolate digestives
    Dusters
    Dish cloths
    Kitchen roll
Cream cheese - makes a great pasta sauce with garlic added
    Baked beans
    Chocolate and caramel wafer bars
Mushrooms - half the price of standard ones and last ages
Tomatoes - don't last that long but are fine in cooking and go great with a cooked breakfast
    Tinned sweet corn
    Mushy peas
    Tinned tuna

    We don't like:
Weetabix - known as wheat biscuits. They are small and very hard
    Coffee powder
Tinned tomatoes - too thin and watery
Washing powder - doesn't dissolve well in machine

We also won't touch any fresh value meat or fish - we buy standard or go to local butcher

By using as many value items as possible we have cut our weekly bill by around £10

Meant to say the value ketchup is great too. We won't buy value bread, it's too thin and doesn't last, we insist on Hovis

Do all sausages not cook in the oven? i generally cook all my sausages in the oven anyway.Value sausages are ok for in sausage casarole but for a fry up or with mash i keep an eye out for reduced sauages.

Everyday Value beef mince - pretty fatty when preparing and cooking (made HM burgers and the chopping board, spatula and my hands got absolutely coated in fat) but once cooked and drained off the taste/texture isn't bad, no one noticed the difference between the burgers I made with the EV and the regular own brand mince.
